Hi Shaun. I'm very happy you found it helpful!

There is a factory rake because of payload requirements. If you fit 4 grown adults or a small trailer it will squat the rear end. Even with the automatic level adjustment of the air ride, it still needs to be higher in the rear than the front otherwise the vehicle will become unstable at certain speeds. Not only is your wheel alignment based on this but also your axles. I don't think it's dangerous to do this mod and it absolutely looks better but the mod doesn't take into account all the engineering thoughts. Ideally if they needed a rake in the suspension, I think they could have designed the fender openings to be a little lower. In the SRT models, the fender flares do cover more so at minimum SRT thought about it a little.

I'm impressed you took this on. But you didn't actually show removing or reinstalling these tubes (these are tubes, right?), or which tools were used. It is encouraging that you didn't have to remove the wheels. And, btw, for headlight adjustment, which direction do you turn it to raise it up and how much difference does a half turn make?

has anyone had any success with adding the spacers to the struts with these links? like they do for the ram's with quadra lift? Makes it a much more smooth ride i hear.

Hey Tony very informative video. I'm a Chrysler Tech and thinking of leveling/lifting my 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit. I know when I currently put it in Offroad I/II the ride gets much stiffer. I assume that once you made your adjustment to the ride height link you have a stiffer ride as well? Thinking of adding the Rough Country Ride Height Leveling Kit.
@TonyHepp
@TonyHepp 5 лет назад
Glad you liked it. The ride feel is identical, save driving over a particular railroad crossing in the closet city to my place. The front suspension over it is noticeably jarring. It reminds me of setting the height at maximum. I've not heard of the Rough Country kit. Will check it out now. 😉

Hi Tony, well done really nice and informative video. I was wondering if you've had any problems with the QL after this mod? If I understood you currently, the Jeep is now in Off-road 1 mode all the time? Please correct me if I'm wrong here. Did you tuned the rear end as well? Thanks, Sagi.
@AngelaHepp

Thanks Sagi! No sir. The vehicle is normally in the standard height position. I did nothing to the rear end; I raised the front only. Take care.

A cheaper route for the all thread is going to Home Depot and buying machine screws M5-.8 x 80mm. That gives you 3.13” of thread and you only need 2.91”. They are $2 for a pack of two. They are also stainless steel.

Tony, great video and explanation. It appears you kept the OEM 20" wheels and simply replaced the standard tire with a more aggressive A/T type tire. If that's correct, can you share with us what size tire those are and if you encountered any rubbing particularly on the front tires against the inner wheel well liners or suspension components. I've been wanting to do just what you've done but up until now was not aware of how easy it is to do. Thank you.

You're welcome Richard! I'm glad you liked it. The "Trail Rated" Overland JGCs, at least in 2015, come with the 18" wheel in this video. Yes sir. In fact, I made a video on the aftermarket tires; the link is below. I only experienced very slight rubbing on one wheel well with the Nittos when I added 1.5 inch Spider Trax spacers to the mix. If you aren't running any kind of spacer, the larger tires should not rub. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JgNlRRjQn_0.html

Tony Great video. My desire is to LOWER my 2011 GC Overland. I want to set the standard ride height at the lower setting but not have the traction control turned off, which happens if you dial in the lowered SPORT setting. So if I fabricate some of my own adjustable links am I correct that, I need to lengthen the front links to lower the front and shorten the rear links to lower the rear. If this is correct do you lave any idea what , say 2mm in length does to the actual ride height, IE. 2mm longer link in front lowers Ride.Hht. 1/2 in? And finally, do you measure the ride height on level ground across centerline of wheel to underside of wheel well OR do you measure from center of wheel to underside of wheel well just curious? I'm sorry for so many questions but like you I'm a little OCD myself!
@TonyHepp
@TonyHepp 4 года назад
I'm happy you liked it! No. You need to lengthen both links. Two millimeters (~0.080 in) should change the body height at least 0.38 inch. You will have to "dial in" the required length by trial and error. On level ground, I measured the front and rear heights from the top of the tire to the underside of the wheel well/body trim. Since this is what I and others see when looking at the vehicle, their being equal was my goal. Feel free to ask more questions. Answers usually bring peace to us OCD folk. :)

@shmag4216 5 лет назад
@@TonyHepp Thanks. I see what you mean by some GC being different lengths. My factory lent was 4.42 inch. I cut my rod to 4.12 and gained 1/2" lift giving my JGC an almost perfect level look in standard drive mode. My rod was straight unlike yours. I was able to cut, reduce, and weld it back together. Saved me on cost. :)

Hey tony. Great video. I love watched it a few times and the first time I understood everything. Then I confused myself and am now wondering how a shorter rod raises the vehicle and a longer rod lowers it? Can you explain? Thank you!
@TonyHepp
@TonyHepp 5 лет назад
You're welcome! I'm glad you liked the video. Ride height and front rod length are inversely proportional. The Jeep engineers simply designed the ride height sensor, rod, and other suspension components in this manner. They could have done it differently.

Great video! I'm here in Oklahoma as well as have a WK2 Overland Summit with QL also. How is yours holding up overnight? Are you losing air when it sits hours? I am in the front only, but it raises back up just fine when started. I have the links, both the leveling ones and also some raising ones, or maybe its the other way around (leveling = raising, lowering = lower than stock). Where are you located, NE, Central, SW, etc? I'm NE.

Tony Great video, I am junior Romero from Dominican Republic. I have a jeep Grand Cherokee over land 2011, and it has the following problem : sometimes it goes up alone, and does not go down by the down button, and although the vehicle goes at a speed higher than 100 km / h it does not give the down signal. Now the vehicle has remained in the lowest position, and does not rise, Now the vehicle has stayed in the lowest position, and it does not go up, if I press the up button says; nor does it do anything, but if I press the down button, it tells me that it is in the lowest position. in previous times they have changed the shock absorbers, the compressor, and the valve set, and today again I have the same problem with the suspension. Where can I get the electric, and / or electronic manual of this vehicle?
@AngelaHepp

Hi Junior! I'm glad you liked it. Do you own a Haynes manual for your Jeep? It contains some wiring diagrams. The root cause failure analysis is very disappointing; trial and error is always an expensive way to get your vehicle fixed. Did a Jeep dealer perform the work thus far?

What is the height of your wheel fender flare after the adjustment and what airbag position? In what air bag position were you adjusting the links on, was it on the entry/exit or Level 1? Thanks for doing this video!
@TonyHepp
@TonyHepp 5 лет назад
Thanks! 33.25 inches when the vehicle height mode is entry/exit. This will certainly vary from vehicle to vehicle. I measured a half dozen new JGCs at a dealership one day. The heights varied even on the same vehicle from driver's side to passenger's side by as much as 3/8 inch.

Tony Hepp just finished the install on my 12, turned out great all 4 corners are within 1/8" which for me is acceptable. One thing I noticed on mine is that the actual wheel Well in the front is larger than the rear, it comes up higher. So I measured from the ground to the only constant line which is the line between the bottom of the door and the plastic panel on the rocker. Measure front and measure rear both sides. I set mine to the 4.50" measure to start and it was perfect.
