In this video, Andy Phillips shows how to make an air valve holder just using things in your garage. This tool is needed when removing valve springs and seals on valve stems without removing the cylinder heads. An air compressor is also needed since this valve holder is pneumatic.

As long as it has not fallen into the head

What he said… once it falls all the way down to the cylinder ur not gonna get it back up with that unless you’re very very lucky and it somehow fell straight down and landed standing perfectly in line with the hole. 1 in a billion odds… At that point ur gonna either have to use a magnet to pull it up or remove the head to get it back

I actually dropped both valves accidentally in a little Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine… I was tearing it apart to rebuild it and I got in a hurry and dropped the valves and removed the little cam and all without thinking about the fact that the valve is gonna stop the piston from sliding all the way into the cylinder to give me space to slide the crankshaft out and remove the piston itself… even with a magnet it was a nightmare to get the valve back
