How to make a tarantula substrate that doesn't mold . For as long as I can remember people have been battling with mold in there tarantula setups and this bioactive style substrate stops the mold growth but helps plant growth.
Mold can be a killer in the tarantula hobby so avoiding it is so easy and this video is how to stop mold in a tarantula set up

I use a Coco husk and coir mix with organic potting soil. I have only ever had one bioactive for dart frogs. But this has me thinking of upgrading my scorpion enclosure to bio.

Bioactive is for sure the way forward in the hobby. I really want to get back to my old frogs. They were amazing

Bio active herps forest mix never had mold and was 5 pound but now 7 pound for 10 litres

I had organic potting soil and it molded my miracle grow potting soil has not is that ok to put into the enclosure with leaf and bark from a I think magnolia tree all mixed together she seems to do ok with the bark from the tree so im assuming it woupd be ok to break up into a type of soil for her?

I was wondering about putting springtails in with my tiny slings - at the mo I’m feeding them half a mealworm and if I don’t take it out quickly or they drag it down into their burrow (like my LP) I have had a bit of mould which luckily I’ve caught quickly! X

Depends on the snake species . Some snakes require high humidity so yes but other species can get serious respiratory infections from high hummidity

No idea. I guess as long as it's organic . No fertiliser or pestasides it should be okay. Can always freeze it to be extra safe

hi great video, just a quick question I would like a direct link to the exact top soil you use as I would like to be extra careful as I get worried about buying the wrong one & killing my inverts, also If there are any other brands of organic top soil you can use? could you list there direct links, I would really appreciate that as I have searched the net for brands of safe top soil for the uk but alas there is no direct guide on safe uk organic top soil brands, I subbed by the way a few months ago :) just would like to be extra careful, thanks :)

I believe the top soil you suggested is in this video is Wilko Indoor and Outdoor Potting Compost 8L I found it on the wilko website for £1.50 a bag, I bought 4, I hope this is the specific brand in the video? you could add the link in the description for people to find easier if possible? I hope you could answer this question definitively for me as I have been looking around the internet for months trying to find a specific / exact brand of top soil / compost that is safe to use with inverts in the UK & dont want to use it until I get a definitive answer / opinion in case I bought the wrong one by accident, hope I dont want to seem to be over the top I just dont want to end up with dead inverts, cheers :)

@@michaelsMW2movies thanks Michael very much, I will be able to use this brand safely now without concern for my inverts well fair, I will check that it says "pesticide free" n confirm when it comes, I'm sure if springtails can live in it then other inverts can too, anyway thanks again for the msg & answer to my question, Michael, cheers.

Richard I'm having a problem with my big girl Leopard Gecko. I've searched online and found a few possible answers but I was curious what you have to say, plus I'm tryna keep the conversations going on your vids. So my big girl has, overnight, developed large bubbles behind her front legs. I've read that it could be a sign of obesity, and that it's harmless, another article said it's a sign of sickness.

It's nothing to worry about. It's where they store there excess calcium. I think there called calcium deposits .
