I want to also appreciate how every time you 'tasted' a cookie you must have shoved the entire thing in your mouth in one go just above the camera view.
No other individual could preform such an intricate and delicate role with such finesse that it leaves all who see it yearning for a sequel. Truly one of the films of all time.
That moment when Sweet Tooth leaves New York behind to go find his purpose was the most emotional finale to any movie of all time. I legit cried in the theatres as I ate my Cookie Nachos.
What about when he builds the bubblegum raft to cross the River Thames and rescue his long-lost British half-brother, Tea Time? Had a huge effect on 9-year-old Babish
@@babishculinaryuniverse that scene was great, but when it was revealed that Tea Time was secretly The Dentist in a cleaver disguise and attempted to remove all of Sweet Tooth's sweet teeth was traumatizing for me! I was so happy when the real Tea Time and all the people he helped with his crazy creative consumables busted though the wall and saved him! But I still have nightmares about the licorice lagoon, why did they add a large beast with 1000 eyes?!
The only thing that could have made this movie better would be if the final battle inside the wreckage of Liverpool Cathedral against Sweet Tooth's nemesis Bitter Fang had better practical effects. Some parts of the movie just haven't really aged well.
@@babishculinaryuniverse I actually thought the bubblegum raft scene was a little too melodramatic, personally. The movie worked better when it played to its strength, contrasting the sincere heart with Sweet Tooth's silly antics to keep it light-hearted.
Sweet Tooth Goes Euro (1999) is such an underrated masterpiece. People just don't talk about it enough anymore. That half-assed reboot series from 2016 was quite frankly an insult to Sweet Tooth fans all around the world. I'm glad you're highlighting the movie so the younger generations can experience the movie for themselves.
Don’t even get me started on that reboot. It was awful. Although, I don’t hear many people talking about the sequel released three years after the original, Sweet Tooth 2: The Legend of Candy’s Gold. Its pretty underrated in my opinion. Babish should check it out sometime.
@@retrolord8546dude candys gold was rubbish ur delusional. you are the same as people who enjoy star wars sequels. me personally Sweet Tooth 3: Sweet Tooth’s return is clearly the definitive classic of the series
@@arav384 I'm not surprised it suffered from "sequel slump," since that's the only one from the original movies Jon Hansen didn't write as well as direct. That's probably why the series derailed after he passed away.
I honestly have a weird soft spot for Sweet Tooth Down Under: The Tim Tam Slamboree. Yes it was direct to video and it shows but it does its best to capture the spirit of the Original and Sweet Tooth Goes Euro and speaking as an Australian I appreciate that it avoids the worst "Hollywood version of Australia" clichés. Helped that at least some of it was filmed on location.
Truly incredible how well he was able to replicate such a recipe from the movie. Sweet Tooth Goes Euro has always been one of my family's favorite movies.
Honestly, even when the strike ends, I don't want these to go away. I love the creativity, both in the dishes and in the short films. It could be like a monthly series "Fake Film Fridays" or something. I dunno.
@@akidfromguam Just because one dude is able to make short little films to replace his movies and tvs, does not mean he will want to do that forever. Writers are still needed.
And contrary to some opinions, he didn't violate the strike at all by doing this, nor is he making any money off it. I'm pretty sure he knows what's at stake just like everybody else and is trying to respect that. That's what makes me the happiest about these.
@@shavonwalker2550 I mean, is he even a member of any of the unions? Correct me if I'm wrong but he's just a RU-vidr who made their own mini-production company. Doesn't necessarily have to be a part of the union at all so it wouldn't actually violate any strikes cause he's not a part of that organization. The way I interpreted the opening is that he does a lot of recipes *based* on film and television, that are often filled with union members and wouldn't be possible without the union and as such he doesn't want to use their work during the strike in solidarity
@@TheArtisticGamer7 I believe you're correct on all counts. To be fair, SAG/AFTRA has come out against Disney cosplayers who are promoting the Haunted Mansion, since the strike is specifically against certain studios and not against writing and directing in general. He could, for instance, do recipes based on an A24 movie and be fine. But he chose to sidestep all of that, which was a wise decision.
@@TheArtisticGamer7 Even if he's not a part of these unions, people choosing to support the very companies that mistreat writers and actors does very well damage their mission. Either way, he's not choosing to support these companies at the moment (as you said, he makes recipes based on film and tv), so he's not making money from someone else's work. It would be one thing if he was choosing to act in someone else's movie or tv show, but he's obviously not, so I don't see why people are in a tizzy about it.
I remember watching "Sweet Tooth Goes Euro" with my family as a child. The finale was the first time I'd ever seen my father cry. So glad to see it get some love on here! Can't wait to make my own cookie nachos to celebrate!
These fake food/fake movies have been some of the most genius content you’ve ever made. It really is a great way to keep making videos while standing with a union
If you need ideas for food while the WGA’s on strike, here are a few of my favorite (fake) movies with iconic foods. -Bill’s blueberry blast muffins from “My Old High School’s Vampire Superintendent” -Jessica’s pepper-roasted duck from “Silence in the Music Room” -Alistair’s lemon curd sachertorte from “All’s Well at the End of the World” (the scene where he finally gets it right) So long as they’re on strike, might as well have fun with the fake movies, right?
what about the street noodle bar scene from the book turned film Wolf Knight- that techno sci-fantasy film. I think the director and props team made it a katsu chicken with Yakisoba and served it with the orange-coloured milkshake
@@mattia_carciola , oh, don't I know it. That fork clink before digging in? And that bite, with tears in his eyes... "Took me thirty years and the world falling down around our ears, but I finally got it."
Glad to see the Sweet Tooth franchise getting its due! Would love to see you recreate the dessert burger though Sweet Tooth and Carrington get at the Route 66 Diner from “Sweet Tooth Goes West”! The cheese slice (I always wondered what it was; my thought was solid peanut butter) landing on Carrington’s head always makes me laugh!
I remember waiting for what felt like years for Sweet Tooth Goes Euro! to come out on VHS, and then I'd watch it every Saturday morning faithfully for a whole summer. My mom had to buy me a new copy I wore out the first one from so many rewatches.
Next, can you do Borscht, from Goncharov (1973). It's from the Dinner Scene where Goncharov and Andrey are in the kitchen, cooking "menacingly" at each other, while Katya and Sofia sit at the dinner table eating the borscht in complete silence, never breaking eye contact with each other.
Only Babish could make an idea like "cookie nachos" actually work. I'd love to eat a plate of these with friends and the strawberry and dragonfruit mint salad looks awesome.
Can we just keep having these videos as a usual thing even after the strike. Because I'm gonna be honest seeing Andrew stretch his creativity and food skills is a highlight of my day.
Oh man! Sweet Tooth Goes Euro! Ive seen this on my 196th birthday. Wow. I was so young. The drama, the action, the romance… The movie still holds up today! When Sweet Tooth danced with Spicy Tongue, and said “You’re the only one I need…” It melted my cold icy heart… It helped me discover the meaning of life…
I remember hearing that Sweet Tooth Goes Euro almost didn't happen when the original VA passed before production started. But the replacement really did an amazing job, and you can barely tell the difference.
Sweet tooth goes euro was one of like 3 movies i watched on repeat as a kid, seen it at least 100 times. Thank you for bringing my childhood dream of the cookie nachos into reality.
I don't know what we did to deserve these past two episodes but I'm eternally grateful. The "look, it's almost exactly like the one in the movie" line had me actually laughing out loud.
Oh my goodness, we're finally getting the cookie nachos!?!? I remember making my own when I was little when my cousin and I would go on a Sweet Tooth marathon. I loved Sweet Tooth Goes Euro but the original movie will always be my favorite. The part where he saves the bake sale by donating all of his cookie hoard? Tear-jerking. Serious note: I love that this was the approach for the ep. 1000000000/10 Andrew, we love ya.
Obviously, the only course of action is to have Sweet Tooth as a permanent character in the Babish universe. We need them to return in all of the sweetest episodes!
I can't say I enjoyed "Sweet Tooth Goes Euro" -- too much embarrassment humour for me. But the cookie nachos look delicious! Worth a try, even if I wasn't a huge fan of the movie!
I always loved the scene when Sweet Tooth takes the palace guards to the fish and chips stand after they leave work. But honestly, the dragonfruit and strawberries are absolutely the better combination, I think
I made a similar dish before of Churro Nachos, I made a tortilla masa/dough (unsure the correct terminology) with cinnamon in it and cooked them as normal, then fried the chips and sprinkled and salted them while still warm. Cream Cheese Frosting Queso Strawberry rhubarb salsa
@@TheVideoGuyfromOhioMany do. Many do not. Some are millionares make an average living, others are struggling. Even if they all were well off, the people who benefit from them being taken advantage of are gigantic studios who can certainly stand to give a fair share.
@@TheVideoGuyfromOhio one of the executives trying to end the strike said all they need to do is drag things out just a few months until actors and writers start losing their homes. that doesn't sound like superstar richy riches to me.
@@extonjonas6820 honestly, don't you think it should be more about settling differences and making both parties satysfied rather than just "Us vs. Them" mentality?
I would have liked to see the cookies retain their circular shape, but marvelous work finding substitutes for traditional nacho toppings! The pico de gallo with dragon fruit works well, coconut would be overpowering i think
Y'all...in the clip, he says he has a fever of "37 degrees Centrigrade". I did the conversion and...it's literally just 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Honestly, that's brilliant.
For the "pico de gallo" you could have put in a very finely-chopped habanero in order to get some nice sweet spiciness, which works surprisingly well with sweet fruity things.
That movie was my childhood. I remember having that movie on an old dvd (along with it’s less known sequel, sweet tooth: sugar-mania) and falling asleep to it every night. My mom used to make us cookie nachos every Saturday. Thanks for the memories, Babish :)
If I could suggest a suggestion, you should do the Campfire Stout steak from the hit classic movie B.E.A.R.s. I particularly like the scene where the teddy bears come out of the sewers and maul that guy.
This was such a nostalgia bomb of a video. I feel like no matter what I've gone through in life, Sweet Tooth has always been there for me. And now I can finally recreate these nachos from one of my absolute favorite childhood films. Thanks Babish!!
From the Australian canon of confectionary; Instead of ground beef use: puffed rice, shredded coconut, powdered cocoa, sugar and Copha (a vegetable oil/coconut oil hybrid) and you will make CHOCOLATE CRACKLES a great version of 'ground beef' for a sweet nacho dish.
I think the best part about Sweet tooth Goes Euro is how it teaches kids great lifelong lessons through storytelling definitely the best kids movie of the 90s
Personally, I preferred Captain Sweet Tooth: Legend of the Rubber Ducky Treasure. The scene where he befriends the rival captain with the Pirate Pancetta Panini (the chocolate rub was genius) was both visually stunning and a masterclass in peacemaking. Love Sweet Tooth! (You guys are more than welcome to this idea 😉 love the puppet!)
Yeah, I mean Captain Sweet Tooth: Legend of the Rubber Ducky Treasure (2004) got a lot more attention than the original, mainly due to the pirate movie craze after Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) came out just a year earlier. Must've been many people's introduction to the franchise.
i missed the last one so i didnt know you were doing these and was pleasantly surprised by the beginning. this is such a delightful idea and a great way to show support imo. and also i would eat those show accurate cookie nachos
I’m really glad they keep going for these cult classics like Sweet tooth. Gives me hope they might try out the chocolate hot dog from Arizona’s Grey Day
