This rum recipe is awesome, and it tastes great. Be sure to try this rum recipe it is easy to make with just a few ingredients. Blackstrap molasses of sugar cane. In sugar refining, molasses is separated from the sugar crystals after each of three boiling or extraction processes that sugar cane goes through. The third and final separation is called blackstrap. Rum is a distilled alcoholic drink made by fermenting then distilling sugarcane molasses or sugarcane juice. The distillate, a clear liquid, is usually aged in oak barrels. Most rums are produced in Caribbean and American countries, but also in other sugar producing countries, such as the Philippines and India. Rums are produced in various grades. Light rums are commonly used in cocktails, whereas "golden" and "dark" rums were typically consumed straight or neat, iced ("on the rocks"), or used for cooking, but are now commonly consumed with mixers. Premium rums are made to be consumed either straight or iced.

I used 1/2 gallon of molasses and 8 lbs of raw sugar in enough spring water to make a 5 gallon wash. I ended up with almost 1 3/4 gallons of proofed down to 75 proof rum. I made half into coconut rum and the rest with medium toasted maple chips, which made a wonderful golden brown rum!! If you use dady yeast, you don't need 2 -3 weeks!! It will work off in less than a weeks time!!

You can add 1 to 2 tablespoons of glycerin per gallon of finished product to tame that burn down a bit. It’ll smooth it out so the flavor of the product comes through more prominently.

Heck yeah i probably won't ever use that still again, i have been making copper columns that go on top of kegs, and there just aint no going back, the liquor comes out cleaner, stronger, and having a thumper is awesome when you wanna add flavor. I have considered modifying the one i have to go to a thumper, would be very easy, if i do it i will make a video of it.

Also the head of that still will bolt on to keg for anyone who wanted to do a bigger batch who has the 8 gallon. A keg is 15 gallons and accommodates a 10 gallon mash, i will make a video about this soon also lol. Copper mesh is good to use.
