Japanese women shave their arms, that's true. And their faces. And even backs sometimes. (But very often they forget the legs.) However, shaving doesn't work too well for women from other parts of the world. If you feel too conscious about it, and decide to get your arms hair-free, better wax. In reality, all this is not that relevant - I don't shave my arms and nobody complained so far. The biggest NO-NO when you date Japanese men is to fall for their pleas (poutings, tantrums. etc.) to have unprotected sex. It's just mind-blowing how absolutely illiterate they are about safety and STI. Yes, for those type of guys, the fact a thought that they might have a decease crossed your mind, is the biggest turn off, but better be save than sorry.

Interesting topic! Thanks God im dating a JP guy who living and working oversea. He's caring, considerate (still a JP man) but slowly and firmly showing me that he's into me. I later on have learnt that there is actually a word for that "kokuhaku" - the big confession. He told me how he felt but still let me have enough time to think abt it, knowing that I wasnt looking for anything serious but pls still spend sometimes going out with him and lets see how it goes. It was a special thing to me (Ive dated 2 westerners during the past 5 years) so Ive decided to make it official. We are a couple now, 8 months! voila!

So I went on a date with a Japanese guy & he seems interested to meet again. I had arm hair & leg hair. He didn’t seem to care one bit. What did seem to bother him was my eye contact. I feel like love comes in at the eyes, and I wasn’t sensitive to the eye contact thing, nor was I aware. Is it worth apologising about it, or should I just move on?

Well before opening the video I was thinking how can you generalise as "japanese men in general" if those are your opinions but the things you said about submission to society rules and eye contact was pretty intresting. I think I have seen these before but someone had to say it before I accept them as facts. Really useful and informative video. Thank you. Personal opinion: you seem so tired of experiencing those kind of things lol. Culture difference must be tiring.

Hi Hkuna Marata :). Don’t mind Nerf Ball he’s a troll and a kid. I married a woman with PhD in brain development etc. etc. and it never intimidated me nor the many guys who I had to fend off to charm her :). During her 5 years in post doctoral studies, half of all the dating couples from her lab broke up from relationships (they work lots of hours on research, getting grants, and of course publish). I was a fast rising in the stock brokerage so we were an interesting match. I think men in general are pragmatic and are interested in women who may be down the road be willing to raise the kids, and practically be able to cook. That’s not a bad thing as in what feminism will teach you. My wife later achieved much in her career but not available at home as much, so that’s a trade off couples have to think about. Smart and hardworking? In Japan isn’t that the norm? So I can’t provide insight there. Good luck! The guy who provided this video is genuine, and it’s his perspective so worth thinking about. Theories about men being uncomfortable with high achieving women is half rumor, and half false information.

I've heard this from youtubers again and again. But just in case you were really interested, my japanese friend, who is a successful japanese woman who travels and studies around the world and has a Phd (I met her at university) clearly stated: "japanese men don't actually like girls like me" "girls who are high achievers or with more success than them". Yo may call it trophies or salary, but probably generally wise, they don't feel comfortable. Maybe not all japanese men, but clearly the male chauvinism society is still present.

That's true. my Japanese ex ghosted me because I was working more than he does, i can speak more languages than him. But mainly since I had an independent life, many friends and a social life that he didn't have because of his introverted personality!! He wasn't against me working but he many times told me that he felt uncomfortable with me working more than him and having more friends!! (It's not like I could leave my job and friends to be his prisoners!!

The first one tho..about hair. Its true to an extent. I have much hair..in my back especially not really in my arms even if I am japanese. Of corse, not full, i am part mexican. And well not that ive dated a whole bunch, only one man for the past 10 years (hes japanese too) and he never seemed to care, not even when we were in high school. And some of my friends from the states have dated a couple of japanese men and i havent seen them caring if they have hair or not. So dont feel scared or anything to go for it because your hairy lol.

thanks for this video because i'm trying to not make a mistake with my boyfriend. so far i think i didn't make a mistake and i know him through my brother so that's helping too. he's not shy at all and a lot of the videos talk about japanese guys being shy, but he's been in honolulu for a few years so maybe that's why he's not shy? we live far apart now, but his job already keeps him away for long periods of time sometimes anyway. i would move anywhere for him though if it works out.

Ladies, from my experience dating a japanese man I can say two things. The adaptation is hard as fuck... Either you or him will have agree to the other ways in regards to finance, Romanticism, sexism, freedom of thought ,ect ect. Or at least come to a half way point where both are comfortable. Second, I managed to make him trim down there and now he does it as if it had always been his choice.

It's not only Japanese men but also Japanese women too 😅 I’m half Japanese and I live in Japan,trust me, most of them are very sensitive about their body hairs. When I moved to Japan with my arm full of hair …. I was so surprised to see none of the females had arm or leg hair. Like not even a tiniest hair was visible lmao and the amount of ads on laser treatment for hair removal will make you go crazy. At least i go crazy lol and these days , hair removal of hoo haa is starting to trend here too.

So they are the same as in other countries in the world with hairs. But! They are probably the only who do not tell you publicly that you are ugly and should shave them, what people in other countries do. Well, I will never date anyone and it will be ok.
