Follow me at Twitter! / hensama24 In a new series, I take a look at all the changes Viz Media made to Naruto when it broadcast in the mid 2000's. This video covers the Prologue Arc. Episodes 1-5.
I'm impressed that the broadcast version was really lax on edits. Because outside of a few scene changes, the scrubbing of any blood, and Japanese text being translated to English, it seems that the show remains mostly intact.
I always liked the way Viz handled censorship here. It's not even really censorship and you wouldn't even be able to distinguish the edits without having looked them up first. I wish more anime would bother to translate text too.
Something you need to mention in the future is how the next episode previews sometimes have different music compared to the edited broadcast version which almost always used the main theme for the previews.
It can't be....actual footage of the edited dvd footage. All of my life I thought nobody would have had proof of it's existence but I applaud you sir. Also there is an even more censored version of dubbed Naruto that being the Jetix version in the UK. It was butchured beyond belief from random zoom in's to cutting audio at innaproprate times to not reaching the Sasuke Retreval Arc. It was a discrace unlike the USA version on CN which treated Naruto like a king.
@@bluebaron6858 When I say edited dvd footage, I mean the raw footage that CN used for their broadcast. Not the pixelated Cartoon_Palace VHS encodes, the raw CLEAN footage from the edited dvds.
Finally Please, coming soon the censorship of: Kirby right back ya Magical doremi zatch bell Medabots Beyblade Knights of the zodiac (dic) Yo kai watch And obviusly cw broadcast of dbz kai
iirc, in episode 1: Uncut version: Iruka shouts the F word censored version: Iruka says something else during when Naruto was tied up and before all students was learning transformations
what DID Iruka say in the censored dub in place of an F-Bomb anyways? that's what I really want to know as i can't find anything about this on the Censorship Wiki nor this video
@@patrickzalatoris3206 They could have done what the games do and given the Sexy and Harem Jutsus digital bikinis, but since Naruto was aired in Prime Time and was rated PG, they could get away with a lot more.
the bloody and cut up Sasuke is not a Shadow Clone of Kakashi transformed to look like Sasuke, but a Genjutsu Kakashi put on Sakura. Specifically, the Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Jutsu, which shows the target's worst fear at the time, whether or not they know what they're seeing is actually their worst fear. In this case, Sakura's worst fear was seeing Sasuke bloody and dying.
