1) it seems to me that DLSS + Dynamic resolution + high settings rather than ultra + nvidia reflex + FRAME GEN would provide more consistent FPS needed for BFI , did i understand that right ?? 2) WHAT IS MOTION INTERPOLATION ?? can 60 FPS =120 FPS with motion interpolation > meaning can i downscale from 4k to 1080p or 2k then interpolate 60 FPS to 120 HZ and then turn on BFI thus removing CPU DEMAND or get consistent FPS for BFI AT 60 FPS but then it is interpolated to 120 HZ ?? will this function just as good as 120 HZ BFI or there would be major input lag problems ??

I like the new ROG PG32UCDM. Cause it's flat 32 and 16:9. But kinda expensive. I would be totally content with a va panel but youtube gatekeepers scare me away from getting one. currently having a samsung 32 inch ips that I really like, but I just want the colors to pop more like on a crt or oled.

I also hate matte screen coatings. It wouldn't be so bad if glossy monitors were common and easy to get, but they're more or less extinct. If you want a glossy screen you either have to buy an Apple monitor, buy an obscure import brand, or get a TV. This is why I've used TV as monitor for nearly 15 years now. I have the TV on a stand behind my desk, so I can use it comfortably just as a normal monitor. In an old NEC Spectraview manual the recommended screen distance is one screen width. So if the monitor is 50cm wide, it should be 50cm from your face. My TV is 1.6 meters wide, so I sit 1.6 meters away from it. Some people prefer three screen heights distance, which is a bit further away than one screen width. For me one screen width distance feels good, so that's what I use. You're right about monitor's lack of config options being a big problem. Especially with wide gamut screens like HDR displays. To render both SDR and HDR properly you need a screen that can adapt to the input signal properly and reliably. TVs are good at this, whereas monitors often force you to switch modes manually, if they even give you the option at all. I'm sure an OLED monitor in the right circumstances can look amazing. But the price is too high for something that I'm sure will have at best a mediocre software experience compared to any TV.

The trouble with monitors is that they have more simplistic processors that fail to get a proper HDR handshake in Windows. The end result is that display tonemapping stops working. Even LG's OLEDs tonemap when HGiG is enabled, but only during times of ABL. These monitors have no such fallback, meaning when ABL hits, and it WILL, you're left with blown out highlights. I experience this even with my low ABL Mini-LED monitor, and I've talked to QD-OLED Ultrawide owners that have the same issue. Until Windows gets its metadata situation fixed, only get monitors with absurdly low ABL curves. There are workarounds to the tonemapping problem, but opening an admin app or web browser, hovering over a taskbar window, or changing into fullscreen will break these workarounds and force you to re-fix it EVERY TIME. When it comes to screen size, I like a 60 degree FoV on my display. Find your optimal sitting distance and figure out if a bigger display fits your FoV and space requirements. I'd buy a 32 inch over a 110 inch if I can't sit exactly 7 feet away from the 110 inch.

@edragyz8596
@edragyz8596 4 месяца назад
@@maratxtv7166 That doesn't sound like a solution to my ABL problem... Tonemapping is the solution, why would I want to turn it off? My choices are, set games at worst case brightness of 1000 nits and lose the extra 565 nits I paid for, or tonemap with real-time ABL compensation. My problem is Windows failing to give my monitor the signal it needs to look its best.
@edragyz8596
@edragyz8596 4 месяца назад
@@maratxtv7166 Okay so I have multiple things I gotta say to this. Firstly, the HGiG mode on displays like an LG C1 is specifically designed to perform tonemapping ONLY when the panel falls below peak brightness conditions. For example when a game is set to 800 nits but the panel can only manage 400 nits, despite having HGiG enabled, the panel will tonemap to 400 nits instead of blowing out details. This is a GOOD thing. Secondly, my display doesn't have an HGiG mode like this, nor does it have any accessible tonemapping options (thanks Asus). I'm stuck with an input tonemapping luminance of 3500 nits and a physical peak/sustained 10% of 1565 nits, 100% peak of 1565 nits, and 100% sustained of ~1000 nits. If I set a game to 1565 and ABL kicks in, without tonemapping, I'm screwed. Why would I want to strip away the metadata that I am SPECIFICALLY, FORCEFULLY, sending to my display? All this would do is blow out my highlights in ABL conditions. Maybe I'm misreading your reply but I'm lost.

You've changed the integer scaling. Old 240p console or game on and 480 tv. 240x2=480. It can fit evenly. Thus, the pictures will be scaled correctly, and you get all the details. If you try and fit the native resolution under or over, you will have image problems. You are going under.

I'm currently playing it on PS5 in performance mode, with just under 4K at a locked 60fps in HDR, with RT & that funky hair strand effect turned off(It actually reduces the frame rate further) and it looks beautiful. Probably the greatest looking game I've ever laid eyes on. I play competitive Counter-Strike and Overwatch while also playing single-player games and movies, people who play first person shooters with mouse & keyboard prefer smaller screens to fit everything within peripheral vision (you don't have to turn your head and eyes to look at each corner of the screen), TV is not going to work, can't fit a TV on a desk while also maintaining peripheral vision (24" is considered the best size for shooters, 27" is still okay, 32" is the absolute limit). If I want a display for both competitive gaming and experience the best of story/casual games and movies then I take OLED monitors over TV anyday. There is a reason why 27/32" 16:9 OLED monitors with high refresh rate are in great demand and selling like hotcakes right now. I currently use a 32" Neo G8, a 1196 zones miniLED monitor. At 32" I can just tolerant this size for competitive gaming, any bigger than this is a no-no. Looking forward for my PG32UCDM that I have preordered.

You won’t see your face if you have dim lighting behind your monitor or off to the side. There is a huge difference from just lighting in a room and having dim lights which is ideal for picture quality and not strong light in one spot (just the tv or monitor on and nothing else) for your eyes which could actually be straining. A really good way to have some lighting in a room that doesn’t take away from picture quality is to have a laptop screen on a white screen or half white screen at your desired brightness off to the side in the room/or behind you or something similar.

Previous LG monitors only supported SDR calibration(with LG calibration studio), but not HDR. I hope the one will support HDR calibration as well. There are two problems with it. The fan. The OLED monitor market just started basically a few years ago. It’s still in its infancy. It’s still niche. It’s still expensive. Once more options come out and people start buying them more, prices will come down and it will make more sense. Sure it’s hard now to justify paying $1200 for a 32” 4K OLED when you can get a 42” LG C3 for $800, but 32” OLED has its place. 27” 1440p is a little more niche, more for competitive gaming, but it still is something people want.

There's a program called lossless scaling, they recently (couple months back) added in a frame interpolation feature that interpolates half your monitor's refresh rate to the monitor refresh rate. So if you have 120hz, then it will cap framerate of game to 60fps, and then interpolate it to 120fps. Or if you're at 240hz, it will cap to 120fps and then interpolate to 240. I did some test and it's actually pretty usable at 60fps or above, the artifacts are not that noticeable at 60, but damn, if you got a 240hz OLED, and played games at 120 then interpolated to 240, hot damn! You wouldn't get any artifacts at that point I bet! Also, there's no real latency penalty from what I noticed which was interesting. I tested it on tekken 8 cause I hated how choppy it looked even though I have a 120hz OLED TV, and it looked real nice interpolated! Without any noticeable latency issues! So that basically opens up a good way to using 240hz monitors/TVs without as much of an issue as having to keep the game running at 4k 240hz steady, which is insane, but at 120fps, is much more doable.

A TV is too big for gaming because too much is in my periphery. That means I miss seeing things I should be seeing. It is for that reason why 24" is ideal for competitive gaming. Watching a movie is different. 90% of what is important is in the 10% in the center of your display. Most of it is for the ambiance. When it comes to image quality, outside of one display (aw3423dwF), they are all near perfect out of the box when it comes to pq/image quality. Also not everybody wants to mess around with 1000x tv settings. For my qd oled monitors I literally just plug them in, and play video games. The most I'll ever need to tweak is maybe the black floor fix shader; outside of that Native HDR or SpecialK HDR is perfect. Also for a desktop display, anything over 32 inches is just not for me. I have friends that love their 55 inch oleds as desktop devices; but thats not my cup of tea. As for them being expensive, that's another discussion.

Make sure you always buy the extended warranty on these high end TVs!! (as C1 only covered gor 1yr manufacturers warranty by LG).

Did you have your TV on a UPS for backup power supply and surge protection? My LG C1, router, and PC are all on the same UPS 1000w power supply that will give me surge protection and run my internet and PC and TV if my power goes out for about 20 minutes. In the two years I have been using it the UPS has recorded 145 events where the power blipped or went out entirely. The UPS unit I have also conditions the power to ensure optimal delivery. This is important to protect your expensive electronics. My UPS cost me less than $300.

@@Trai1b1aze- how do you know how many hours you have on your tv? I have heard other ppl mention the number of hours their tv 's have on it but never had a chance to ask , would you please tell me how I can check out how many hours I have on my tv ? BTW, some ppl say that you should change your surge protector every 2 years. I have no idea if there is any truth to that, but what the heck, it's not expensive to do that.

I have a couple high end PCs but have a C1 oled 48" I use and the 34" ultrawide Alienware qd oled monitor with the gsync ultimate module. I love the monitor. Its a bit brighter than the C1 too. I guess one of the things that makes me favor the monitor over the tv is that i like the size better for a deaktop setup and the ultrawide aspect ratio is awesome too. I have my 4090 rig hooked up to it and my other PC is in the living room with the C1. They are both great but i can certainly see a monitor setup is more specialized for a deaktop setup.

i swear man we got the same brain 😆 the new lg oled monitor was the only one that interested me, as i also dont like the way qd oleds look, but man as soon as i heard it was gonna have a matte coating i immediately lost all hype. baffling to me that LG the leader of the oled technology charge, would put a hideous matte coating on their latest and greatest technology.. it makes absolutely no sense to me.

At o.27 you say you do NOT have any experience with OLED tv's . . . I had a Panasonic Plasma tv for TEN YEARS and it was fantastic. Then I went to a YT channel that had comments from people like me who had also owned mostly Panasonic Plasmas and they loved them like I did UNTIL they saw the LG C1 OLED TV. Frankly I thought maybe there was something wrong with their plasma tv because I could not imagine a better picture than the one I was getting with my Panny. However I decided to make the jump to an LG C1 OLED 65" tv. It wasn't merely fantastic, I was BLOWN AWAY by the picture quality. Then last year I added an LG 4K dvd player and watched old movies I had on dvd come to life❗It was a joy to see my old dvd's look stunningly clear and sharp ! So, if you haven't actually tried it yourself, then I suggest you stop flapping your gums until you actually experience it for yourself. : )

I feel like every Samsung product is a compromise between their brilliant engineers and the army of complete morons who populate their executive and marketing departments. Every Samsung TV I've interacted with have had things I admire, and things that frustrate me immensely. There's always some bad feature they force on the customer, because they thought it was a good idea, even though it plainly isn't.

Lol, not exactly true. I own 3 QD-Oled s, and 2 WOLEDS, the only time you will see raised blacks is in direct sunlight on the screen, and that's when the set is off. In a normally lit room, blacks are absolute, except for light reflections, which are the same on both panels I own...

We get it, you don't play games that get 240hz+ fps. But you are missing the breakthrough we are going through of making LCD obsolete. These new OLEDs are replacing the need for high refresh rate LCD. 480hz OLED will put 540hz TN to shame. Many people buy those kinds of monitors. People still game at 1080p. These smaller OLEDs NEED to exist. The price is where they are because it's first gen tech. We are currently crossing a bridge of a display revolution. There is no going back. Like you said, there are too many options for every type of gamer that are exclusively OLED at this point

backlight strobbing on LCD with Nvidia ULMB-2 / Pulsar are still better for motion clarity but OLED monitors will be the best at being at everything else.

I’m not in that ”we” so I’m not sure who you represent, except yourself, or are you some kind of a opinion leader with a following and represent them? I think you are missing the Mini-Led revolution, including Sony (a brand that has won consecutively TV reviews and shootouts many years a row) and their 2024 which will have a mini-led model as their flagship. Look at X95L at 85”, it’s absolutely bonkers how well-rounded it is and has no real draw backs. Imagine improving upon it significantly this year, and you are in the best TV category again, including beating the latest OLEDs.

Pretty much no one is. I have an RTX 4090 and don't get more than 190 fps ar max settings in most games. If all you do is play CSGO or Valorant it seems like a waste to buy a $1500 OLED monitor. If you are running HZ higher than FPS you are going to get screen tearing and all kinds of artifacting. 120hz OLED motion clarity is on par with 240hz IPS and is a much more likely target fps.

If size doesn't matter, just go to G3.

Comparing monitors to TVs is a fools errand honestly. When the first point is about size, you have already determined the different use cases and why the comparison becomes null. Using even a 42" oled TV (the smallest available given the settings TVs provide) is still obnoxiously large for a normal desk (lets say "normal" desk width is 25"). The vertical height alone becomes uncomfortable and straining. Your eyes and neck operate much more effectively looking downward, its just the nature of our bodies. Honestly, someone will know whether antv or monitor makes sense given their seating position and setup.

I myself switched from a Samsung Odyssey G7 32” to a 48” LG C2 on the same desk, same distance and I’ve experience no problem at all. Everything is so much better I’m actually glad I didn’t go for the 42”. I feel pity to those who can’t adapt. Also I game a lot, even fast games like CoD I have no difficulties.
