The Cirencester 10K Summer Sizzler took place in the beautiful grounds of Cirencester Park part of the Bathurst Estate. However I made a big mistake of not taking time to Recce the 10K two lap Course! It was 49% hilly and I wasn't prepared for what I was about to encounter. I was taken totally by surprise by the long uphill section after about 2km which was over 2km in length, which went on until about the 4km marker. The really bad news was that I had to run up it all again as it was a 2 lap 5k course. On the second lap I met the hill again around 6km and i really suffered going up this for the second time until about the 8km marker. I do not like running hills and had done no hill training beforehand. From about 8k there was a pleasant run through a wooded area and then a lovely downhill section towards the finish. However there was another sting in the tail with a small gradual climb again to the finish line. It was a tough 10k course but with great scenery of Cirencester Park. I crossed the finish line in a time of 51.33 to get my well earned medal. This was my 4th race in the space of 10 days and I felt really exhausted during and after the race but satisfied that I had done it
