I have a set of 04 1 ton axels for my 92 yj that I am getting ready to build. I'm going to ls swap the yj, because it had a 4 cylinder that went bad, i well be doing a hydro assist, because i do want to drive on the road, but I can't wait to start tearing into it! Video are great!

Thanks man I appreciate it!! A lot of the 05+ stuff will work on the 99-04 axles so you should be good there! This 92-97 axle just doesn’t have the market for aftermarket parts and it’s messing with my plans. Let me know how it goes or if you have any questions!!! LS is in the future for me too!

Nice catch, build what you want do it once and right like you said, not a mistake and change of plans. Many ways to go with these! I have kingpin Dana 60 and that’s what I got lol.

Thank you! Yeah I assumed so. I’ve had these axles for around 6 years and when I purchased them I didn’t know exactly what I wanted/needed. I’m happy with the SD now. Not loving cutting all these brackets off though🤣🤣 thanks for the support!

I picked up a 08 SD Dana 60 for my YJ build too, will be putting it on my YJ later next year, working on doing an LS swap and frame mods first.

To me it is only truly a mistake if you leave it. If you leave it, it lasts on and on year after year. If you change it, it lasts a few weeks.

The 97 axle is 35spline just the same.The 30slpine you are refering to is the outer shaft and all those dana 60s from the 1970s up with a actual wheel hub are 30splime outer shaft.Just upgrade the locking hub and outer shaft the same as every other guy does.

Yes all Dana 60s were 30 spline outer, this 97 axle is a 30 spline inner aswell. There is an upgrade to a true 35sp inner and outer for the 97 but more or less I just wanted a super duty axle. It is a great deal beefier in general compared to the 97. But that’s why I hesitate to say it was a mistake, the 97 D60 would have worked fine, I’m keeping it for a future build any way 🤣

It’s a 60, ford and dodge both made 60s with 30 and 35 spline inner axles. Dodge switched to a 32 spline in the 01-02 dodges and ford went standard with 35 spline in 05. I believe GM has always only ever used 35 splines in their 60s but I’m not 100% on that one. But before 05 for ford axles there were plenty 30 spline innered. I don’t know on the ratio of how many were made during that time maybe I just got unlucky with a rare one lol

The Ford front HP 60 has always been 35spline in all years. The dana 50 has always been 30splime but that would mean you have a 99-04 axle. You can call WFO concepts or any good shop and ask them about it.I only said something since it was misinformation.

Also the dodge axle you are refering to is a unit bearing hub, not a actual bearing hub that you can replace/ pack bearings in.
