Australian here - Aussie hotdogs are very similar to USA, what you made is classic Aussie burger toppings on a Hotdog instead. However, my dad made hotdogs that I benchmark most hotdogs agains. Classic ground Pork sausage (Not Ballpark, more like English Breakfast sausage) BBQed, never boiled or pan fried (Though you could panfry them) Sautéed Onions (On a hot-plate on the BBQ usually, so there is caramelized smoke flavored onions) Personal choice of sauce:- BBQ Sauce Tomato Sauce (Ketchup) Yellow Mustard My mum would add chopped pickles and/or Jalapenos to hers. In rare cases there was a regular classic ground beef "chilly" (no beans) added to the top with shredded cheese for a Chilly-Dog

Sweden is nothing special when it comes to what you have on since everyone is different. You should try and find "Bullens Pilsnerkorv" (it's in a small can). You put the full can (liquid and all) in a pot and just add a touch of water so it's covering the hotdogs/weinerdogs, and as soon as it is about to boil, they're done.

Australian here --- We have this Hardware store called 'Bunnings Warehouse', I'd say it's similar to 'Home Depot'. They have a 'sausage sizzle' every Saturday and Sunday. The stalls are run by volunteers of various clubs to help raise money for their particular cause. This is iconic and everyone knows what it is. It's simply just a piece of bread with the beef sausage diagonal, mixed with caramelised onions and your choice of tomato, BBQ, or mustard for sauce. Many people just go to the hardware store to get a "Bunnings Snag" and to help out a good cause. Hope this helped.

Aussie here too! Yup, can't go past a Bunnings on the weekend without a Snag! Have to admit though, very interesting thing Guga did here, this Greg guy took what's essentially a traditional takeaway Burger-With-The-Lot in a Hot Dog. Cool concept, but definitely not traditional in this iteration!

Yes a square piece of break with the dog diagonal is what my school served LOL It seems your memory and mine are about the same, though my hot-dogs where more like breakfast sausages rather than beef. I can't recall any ever having beef version. But one thing seems pretty constant caramelized onions.

The sausage sizzle was a regular fund raising activity at my primary school (and probably many others). It’s the first thing that comes up when you search google for “Australian hotdog”. I love you Guga but I’m massively disappointed by your lack of research on this one.

Australian here - A lot of people I see have already talked about the Bunnings snag/sausage sizzle. What Guga made is honestly more of an over engineered Aussie burger. Corner shops, cafes and fish'n'chips shops traditionally sold a burger that was a white bread bun of some sort with beef patty, slices of beetroot, egg and tomato with cheese. In my experience bacon isn't always there but very common and sometimes a ring of pineapple for example. Honestly a great crack at an Aussie hotdog but there just isn't one really.

Australia: its really easy. 1. get a flat piece of sanwitch bread 2. get a frankfurt sausage and grill it 3. caramelize some onions on the same grill as the sausage 4. put the sausage on the bread diagonally and fold the bread 5. on the top add the onions and drizzle some tomato sauce on top In Australia we call it a "sausage sizzle"
@Hazzzaa85
@Hazzzaa85 Месяц назад
Aussie here, we don't really have an "authentic Aussie hotdog", we mostly just copy other countries if we want a hotdog. BUT what we do have that is authentically Aussie is a "sausage sizzle": take a thin beef sausage and fry it on a grill with some onion pieces the onion should be cooked dark, almost burned, same for the sausage. To serve, take a slice of buttered white bread, place the sausage diagonally on the bread, top with onions, tomato sauce (ketchup) and American mustard (optional).

White/Yellow/Brown onions thinly sliced with a good squirt of Tomato Sauce when cooking to help the caramalisation process. But this all needs to be cooked on a cast iron surface and served in the most plain piece of white bread you can buy.

Just adding my voice to the many other Aussies here... the Bunnings sausage sizzle, aka a "bunnings snag"... it's super basic, but we love it. A "sausage sizzle" is a community barbeque event, usually done as a fund raiser for schools or other community groups. Bunnings didn't invent it, it's just the most common, taking place every weekend and they raise money for local community groups and charities. The store supplies the equipment for free because it brings in lots of customers.

German here: When we have Hot Dogs in Germany, we either have standard American Style Hot Dogs with Wieners or the really, really, and I mean really crappy ones from IKEA. If you want a really "German Hot Dog" you need an original Thuringian Sausage, which absolutely has to be grilled over charcoal and put it into a german style bread roll with some Bautzner Senf (mild mustard). Also it is absolutely mandatory to eat it either at a motorway station by the Autobahn or in front of a Baumarkt (Hardware store)

You may want to reconsider this. In Australia, we have something called "snags with onion and sauce," which can sometimes include mustard if desired. It's a simple dish that you can find at almost any BBQ throughout the country. I've personally eaten hundreds of them, and every Australian knows about the "Bunnings Snag." It consists of a slice of white bread, a basic BBQ sausage, onion, tomato sauce, and mustard. You can enjoy it at our top hardware stores.

There are some key things to the Danish hotdog, that is not descibed in this. Taking from the top of the list here: Grilled sausage. It has to be the sausages in Denmark, which is not the same as the american sausage. Ketchup. It has to be, what in danish is called hotdog ketchup. The key ingredient in the ketchup, is that it actually has pieces of apples, which gives it a completely different taste, compared to the Heinz ketchup. Mustard also has to be the right thing, and is not Dijon. Sometimes there can be added two different mustards, one of them being the sweet mustard. It does not have pickles on it, but instead, what in Danish is called "syltede agurker". Recipes can be found on this. Pickels would add a flavour that is not correct to a Danish hotdog.

The other Australians are right about the sausage sizzle being the authentic sausage in a bread cradle hot dog thing we have. If it needs to have a hot dog in it to qualify, there’s something called a smokey dog that you can get at bakeries. It’s a hot dog with bacon, cheese and caramelised onion, wrapped in puff pastry and baked until the pastry is flaky, crispy and golden brown. Beats out the sausage roll!

We also have a "sausage sandwich" which I guess could be perceived more like a hotdog in the current settings, which is super simple, bread slices your choice of sauce (tomato/bbq or mustard normally, or all 3. Our BBQ is mostly sweet from masterfoods) and caramelized onions

Norway have a couple of interresting takes on the hot dog. The traditional dog in its simplest form, is a boiled vienna sausage with ketchup, wrapped in a "lompe". I guess you could describe the lompe as a soft potato tortilla. Some ppl top the sausage with shrimp salad. Other toppings like mustard, fried- or raw onions or potato salad are also used. Another take is the same vienna sausage, with some simple toppings, wrapped in a sweet waffle. It must be a traditional, soft, Norwegian waffle. Some say the "pølse i vaffel" first was served with waffle, sausage, ketchup and strawberry jam.

As far as i'm aware the recipe is publicly available and i'd highly recommend it! Love your videos, looking forward to the next one!

Hey @gugafoods regarding the Venezuelan hotdog, just one issue with the cheese, Gouda cheese is very expensive, we use in Caracas a very fine grated matured cheese, and in Maracaibo, we use handmade cheese, which it is a cooked cheese, formed by hand. And cheese is important. Grated potatoes, that's accurate, needed to thank you for that, because we love it. Loved the video, thank you!

Finnish take on Hot Dog: Kuuma koira means “hot dog” in Finnish, but this is very different cuisine than the traditional hot dog. The sugary jelly doughnut combined with the salty, meaty steamed sausage makes it a unique treat. Nowadays, the apple jelly doughnuts from the original recipe are usually replaced with plain, sugar-dusted doughnuts, with the addition of some chopped onions, pickle relish, mustard and ketchup. The dog is best enjoyed straight from its paper wrapper and washed down with milk.

Guga you gotta try the South African Boerewors rolls, its basically a thick beef sausage with spices in it. Typically served with onions on a bun, and your choice of sauces. that would be the basic version but you can essentially top it off with any other garnishing to your preference. Montreal, Canada has its own style of hotdog called a steamie. It's simple, but danged tasty. It served "all dressed" which has a specific meaning for hot dogs. All dressed also has different specific meanings for hamburgers and pizza. For an all dressed Montreal hotdog steam a hotdog and roll. The dog should be plump and the roll soft, but not soggy. Top it lightly with relish, yellow mustard, finely chopped raw onion, and coleslaw. Best served with some greasy fries or a poutin. Ok as someone who lives in Sonora, the only thing Sonoran about that hotdog 🌭 was the bacon wrapped hotdog! A Sonora dog usually is served on a bolillo-style hot dog bun, and topped with pinto beans, white caramelized onions (not red), tomatoes, mayonnaise on top in small lines side to side, same with the mustard, and jalapeño salsa. Then you can put extras at the condiment bar! Like pico de gallo, shreded cheder cheese, cotija cheese, different salsas, guacamole. The bacon wrapped jalapeño is extra and would go on the side. With it usually you get a fried chili guero! What it doesn't have is lettuce, pickles, canned jalapeños, red raw onions, chorizo, or bacon wrapped jalapeño in it! I don't know what style of hotdog that was, but it sure wasn't Sonoran!

@Artcore103 Месяц назад
@@Nailenthusiast1981 Yep I also live in Tucson and I had the same criticism of the video. The only part I disagree on is the caramelized onions, ours if I recall primarily had diced raw onion, which I prefer. Don't need the sweetness or texture of cooked onion in the Sonoran dog. They pretty much all had mayo and mustard, tomato and onion (or a pico), CREMA and a green salsa that was ideally avocado and green tomato based, with cilantro, the pinto beans, shredded cheese, and some kind of medium sized spicy yellow/yellow-green pepper. And you can certainly use red onion, no difference really but the looks. It's been about a decade since I lived there (I grew up there til I was 25), but I went to every sonoran hot dog cart/stand there was, plus el guero canelo. There were only slight differences between them, the format was quite consistent, because it is perfect. Best hot dog on earth, no contest!

Let's just stop with this meta comment. This doesn't even apply. This is part two of a series he's already started. He has three channels in total. He does a crap ton with food. When he starts reviewing tech products, then you can leave that comment.

Australian here, we don't have any 'hotdogs', but we do have something that does include bread and sausages. Just butter two pieces of bread, vegemite on one side and rainbow sprinkles on the other, and put sliced sausages in between, Heavenly
