Being that it was our first time ever renovating a kitchen, I had no clue what I was doing. It's definitely harder than expected to figure out how to design it all. It took a lot of thought in figuring out how to bring this kitchen from the 80's look, to a modern/mid century modern design. On top of that, it is a very small space, so that created design challenges within itself. Working with a budget of around $30,000 we wanted to keep things pretty simple, and I am so excited about how it all turned out!

I like that you did your research on mid-century modern architecture to try to remain as authentic as possible to the original style of the house. The well thought out placement of the appliances is also a win in my book, it definitely maximize the useable space. The only thing I would have done different was go with an induction cooktop to emphasize the modern feel, but other than that well done!

That would’ve been so nice!! Honestly at that point it just came down to price and not wanting to spend more money then we had to, but I agree that would’ve been super sleek and modern.

Very nice...the stacked wall tiles and sconces give class to the Ikea-type cabinetry, and I especially like that it isn't too crowded -- wishing that I had less upper cabinets in my small kitchen!

My brother's in-laws bought a $1M home outside of Silicon Valley. Their kitchen was bigger than my studio apartment, and their wet bar was bigger than my kitchen (too narrow and three steps across). It was obscene.

I also have a gallery kitchen and when I moved into my apartment I put my spice rack next to the sink. My mother said it should be in arm’s reach from the stove but you can literally spin around and grab it without moving your feet lol

It’s about time girlfriend!! Looks great! I highly recommend lining all of your cabinets with clear (non stick) like rubber stuff. They sell it in rolls at IKEA cheap. Protect the investment in case of spills (esp under sink or where spices are ) but also if people put wet dishes away, it can warp. I always do it and mine have stayed perfect. Also put a water alarm under all sinks and places like washer, or hot water heater so if leaks you are quickly altered. (If you have a camera system it should alert you of a sound- so you’d know). These cost $19.99

Thanks for the tip about using Fiverr (also thank you, Lone Fox, ha!) to design the kitchen. What a time saver, and honestly I’d have no idea what I’m doing without an option like that. Now I feel like remodeling/ flipping is within my reach! You guys did a wonderful job with the whole house! So inspired. Also, an appliance cubby is ingenious!
