I decided to order the same cake from a 1 and a 5-star rated bakeries but this time around I only shared the written recipe. No photo, no design, no images. Send the bakeries a few random images for inspiration and ask them to design a cake based on them. Or ask them to combine the cakes that their previous 2 customers bought and see what you get:)

Nope, its completely normal. My mom buys the funfetti boxed cake mix all the time for my siblings cakes. (No it dosen't bother me that I don't get it also, I just really don't eat cake and haven't since I was 6.)

So I'm a baker and the reason that t swift's cake has no caramelization is because they have cut the brown parts off of the cake! This is a simple cake to make and a bakery should know how to make this basic cake!

The 5 star cake is maybe a 3 star. It's a mess for 5 stars. Too much frosting between the layers and the cakes are crooked. Plus, they didn't follow the recipe for the too. Def not 5 stars.

If it's a 1 star bakery, that's the cake I would expect...it's actually a little better than I'd expect. I would actually expect a LOT better from the 5 star bakery. If I were guessing, I'd say those were a 1 star and a 3 or 4 at most star bakeries.

I en outage you to do it! My mom has been doing this cake for years now, and it always tastes delicious. It usually take some her something between 3 and 4 hours, so she usually makes two cakes at once Hahha

I actually like the London 5 star bakery better than the American original because it doesn't look as artificial and it doesn't appear to have the same bleached flour and sort of ingredients. The cream color is the natural color of butter and cream. I am sure it tastes better and is overall healthier.

I believe the idea of a naked cake is a relatively new idea. However bakeries have been making layers with a sick amount of frosting in between for a very very long time. You would assume that whatever five-star bakery he chose would know how to do Even layers. It has the potential to look amazing. But the un even layering makes it look messy

This is so much more than a confetti cake. I made it last year for my partner and it was a 3 day process, with special ingredients, etc., etc., etc. I don't recommend it 😂

The 5* bakery used regular vanilla instead of clear vanilla or very yellow butter or egg yolks in their buttercream. That's why it's more yellow vs stark white like the original milkbar cake.

not gonna lie but that cake looks quite easy to make. with the right tools, cake without frosting on the outside is sooo much easier. I'm just speaking from my experience as someone who knows very little about baking but somehow got hired to make cakes at a bakery. I really don't know how they frikked that up lul

zainab a lol im actually wrong it’s not royal icing, it’s actually cream cheese, vegetable shortening and icing.... but not just cream, cream wouldn’t hold a cake up that well because it’s not stiff enough, the cake would cave if left in humidity

I thought the same too. It looks so basic, probably a vanilla sponge cake with sprinkles in it and frosting. I saw a lot of more beautiful and delicious cakes so this one looks ordinary and basic.

there are so many scams going these days where people order and pay for large orders and then dispute the payment once they get the cake so I understand why international decorators said no and its called a funfetti cake.
