I fast Sun 5pm to Wed 5pm every week, walk most days and eat keto. I'm down over 100lbs. I've done 2x 21 day water fasts and 1 two week fasts. I start a 21 day fast Dec 01, 2020. In November I'll do back to back 72 with larger refeeds in between to prepare.

I rewatch your videos whenever my hungry creeps up .... sometimes just listening to you talk about your discipline & how you have that “on/off switch” really helps me push pass the hunger!! I have noticed, it seems to get easier after every re-feed .... as if my body already knows an extended fast is coming. Lately the hunger kicks in around 4-6 hours before I break my fast. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Morning Jerome:) I’m quite fascinated to be on this journey with you and particularly during this portion of the process. The new challenge regarding navigating your new relationship with food during the maintenance phase is something we don’t get to witness much. You spoke of the reality that it’s about to become a matter of exercising self control/willpower over your food verses what you’ve been able to do thus far and this part about “relearning” intrigues me soooo much!!! People tend to get to goal and then things kinda just stop or the yo-yo phase sets in etc... I have faith in you that that’s not what’s going to happen here! Your consistency thus far has been stellar and I’m genuinely excited to continue learning from your experiences:) No pressure lol 🥰
@FinallyFasting

Hi @Camille! I'm pretty nervous to be honest with you. Being able to eat just about anything and then having to scale it back a bit is definitely a concern of mine. I look forward to going through it though and sharing that part of the journey. But I agree with everything you said - I know I can't just 'stop' or 'yo-yo' but keep progressing! I have a lot to prove not only to myself but to be an example for others - appreciate your support throughout it all!

Dang. I do the exact same thing as you with eating as much as I want until full which for a middle aged woman happens to be a lot. I don't treat fasting like a diet. I just do 48's and 72's and have had experience in the past with OMAD which works also just slower. OMAD is my plan for maintenance then throwing in 48's or 72's as needed if the scale creeps up.

Your body will adjust to burn off excess calories upwards of 50% of your average daily BMR. The body will try to use the food you give it. Don’t worry too much, you could always add an extra day of fasting in there if you notice a change in weight at that point in time. One day at a time.

I've recently got into extended fasting for vanity but more for health reasons. Being Filipino we (I hope I'm assuming right) have a very indulgent culture as it shows we are enjoying and we are sharing. Wheather it be food, drinking, etc. As I've gotten older work and family take up way more time so my health had taken a told and the month boot camp that I put myself though to maintain is harder to get to unless I wake up at 4-5am. Recently I've done a couple of 4, 5, and 6 day fast and have been amazed by the results and the science behind it. Ran into your channel and love your story telling style. Keep up the great work! Congrats on the new personal best👍. Just re fed after a 72hour.. September 25th was my girlfriend's birthday so in preparation i did a 96hour fast and broke it on her birthday with cake and lobster noodles and loads of other fun stuff that I shouldn't eat (I have t2 diabetes, Dr told me that I had reversed it) I put on 2kg and my blood sugar skyrocketed for days and even now after a 96 and a 72 before that it's still high and I'm still only in mild ketosis. Prior to eating cake and carbs my GKI was 0.3 my current GKI number is 3.3, I wish I could eat what I really wanted to the way you like you do because I would eat cheesecake.. baked.. continental.. hmmmm and lasagne and fried rice.. I was a carbohydrate addict and it does kinda suck that I can't eat what I really want even after a 96hour but I did learn that I haven't reversed t2 diabetes (yet) like Doc said i had and that for now I have to keep on the carnivore train. Despite the hiccup, as of today I weigh 93kg and only 5 months ago i weighed 122kg, so I've lost 29kg thanks to this way of fasting

Jerome, thank you for your generous spirit. I started fasting and keto in February 2020 after discovering the work of Dr. Jason Fung. At the time, I desperately needed to get off insulin. I was diagnosed T2 Diabetic in 2018. After just 3 weeks, I was taken off insulin and within 3 months, my diabetes was in remission. Since then my HbA1c has dropped to a staggering 4.7 and I've lost over 50lbs. I'm still fasting and doing keto as I still suffer severe insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia. And I have more weight to lose. I'll be breaking a 65hr fast today. Your videos are great company on this journey.

Calories got nothing to do with it. It's all about insulin control. If those calories come from carbs and sugar and thus drives your insulin up, it's very different if those calories come from Salmon. Eat foods with little to no impact on you insulin levels. You sound extreamily Insulin Resistant and very addicted to sugar and carbs. Like a dry drunk, white nuckling sobriety, then going on a bender. Then waking up hungover and back to white nuckling it. The weight loss is impressive. You deserve major praise for that.

It isn't weird at all that you have some anxiety about doing shorter fasts. Maintenance isn't easy. I know I struggle with maintenance and holding my weight. I don't want to eat daily, but it's a struggle to not continue losing when I do my normal 40's. Yes right now I'm temporarily doing 65's and my weight is dropping faster than I expected so I don't know if I can continue through the end of the month which is what I had planned. I have to do the opposite of you and choose higher-calorie lower density healthy foods because it's difficult for me to even hit 3k calories my max is usually around 2800 kcals and that's pushing it. I don't track regularly but every once in a while when I feel I've had a day that I was stuffed I will take look at the foods that I ate and put them in a tracker and it will be around 2800 to 2850 calories. You may not have to worry as much as you think you do about the calories. It takes fuel to build muscle, and muscle burns more calories than fat. If you really plan to hit the gym regularly maybe you can continue with the 65's. There's no way to really know until you get there.
@FinallyFasting
@FinallyFasting 4 года назад
Thanks @1GoldenBreeze. This was super insightful. Looks like you and I are on the same fasting routine at the moment! I think i got about 1800 calories in all. My stomach is shrinking so much. This is my third back to back fast. I did 71 hrs then 64 now 91. I've lost 17.68 lbs. I havent been hungry at all except for a few minutes around 72 hrs on this one. But so far so good. Just worried about not being able to eat more.

I'm thinking you should look into keto for your transition into more frequent eating. If you minimise carbs and vegetable/seed oils while boosting your fat and protein intake, you will still be getting enough energy while maintaining your weight. The increase of fat & protein intake will help you with your desires to grow muscle too, remember you're going to need to feed your body a little bit more when you're stressing it with exercise

Why the gigantic refeeds? I thought mine were bad!! That was my downfall this time last year where I ate 3 OMAD meals a week (ie. 2x48's and 1x72 fasts per week) and should have lost about 30lb between Oct 11th and Christmas but my 3 refeeds a week must have been in the 3000-3500kcal range (2400kcal TDEE) because I only lost 20LB. I thought I was binge eating at 3500kcal OMAD's but Holy F*^k, 6000-7000kcal refeed!!!??? Why??? Whats the point in fasting 90hrs and then eating nearly 3 days worth of calories on the refeed?? I mean, I totally understand the rationale of leaning into the propensity to binge where one finds it hard to portion control but much easier to Meal control instead. ie. I maintain with Full TDEE OMAD which means I get to eat whatever the F I want to the point of stuffedness.....but only once per day. However, I've never seen someone take that rationale to such an extreme where you maintain by doing rolling 90hr fasts....but then eating 3 days worth of calories on a refeed?? Now personally I fell off the wagon at the beginning of the year. I had been disappointed that I only lost 20 instead of 30lb before Christmas. I definitely noticed my trousers getting loose, I noticed my belly was flat when lying on my back in bed now that the visceral balloon fat was gone. (Gravity still meant very visible sub-cutaneous fat belly when standing though). However at the time I was disappointed that my face and chin fat hadn't budged....or so I thought. After 9 weeks of fasting and the above slightly disappointing results, I lost my fasting Mojo after the Christmas fasting break. Then had a car accident in January.....and then COVID19 hit........and I put on the proverbial COVID 19lb during lockdowns over the last few months. So it was back to square one for me. However this time I won't make those same mistakes. No. 1. Only once I put the 19lb back on did I realise how much face and chin fat I had actually lost in those 9 weeks. So in other words, this time round, I'll actually trust friends and family who told me they could see the weight loss in my face in as little as 3-4 weeks last time round and won't be getting de-motivated by ME not seeing the face/chin go when I look in the mirror every day. No. 2. I am going to do rolling 72's this time round which will add about 10 extra fasted days to the total between now and Christmas. No. 3. I am going to be much more careful about the refeeds this time round and aim to be much closer to my TDEE with them rather than the 1000kcal+ above it. If all goes well, I could potentially be down 40LB between Oct 11th and Christmas. Oct 11th is when I start as its a motivator given its the 1 year anniversary since I started my last fasts in 2019. I found my 9 weeks fasting last year incredibly easy....once I finally motivated myself to start, got over that first skipped OMAD meal and through the first week whereupon all my Ghrelin (hunger hormone) surges abated. Its that first day and first week to a lessor extent that are the hard part for me. The Oct 11th Anniversary is the motivator to push me over the edge to get going again. LOL.
