I saw part of a trailer for Cuties just to see for myself, and didn't even have to finish it b/c I was disgusted. When the news of Cuties first came out, I signed a petition to Netflix not to release it/to take it down. They didn't, so we canceled.

I must admit that I never watched it, and just havung found your channel here recently decided to check out your review. I am beyond dumbfounded at not only the entirety of the movie (ie funding, director choice of attempting to portray her supposed idea, and audition process) but also the entirety of reactions that have been had. Im so glad I've not subjected myself to it and the seemingly reverse psychological psyop of a movie. Okay, that's where I come as a french to be the Devil's advicate. This movie was meant to be disgusting. You were supposed to feel creeped out because they're children. And that's why the dances are filmed that way : it's filmed like a real sensual dance performed by an adult but with a child so that it's disturbing. It's a movie about the hardship of a teenager wanting to be something else than the goody-two-shoes her parents wants her to be, but losing herself into "adulthood" way too early for her. In the end she begind to find herself more between those two worlds she doesn't belong in. The only issue may be that real children were involved but, from what I could find, they were followed by specialist so that no one did anything they didn't like or feel uneased. Just like the movie "Polisse" about child protection : the young actors were especially taken care off so that they didn't do anything that would scar them. Plus, we're french : we don't tend to sexualize nakedness. A breast is a breast, big deal. Perhaps the other side of the Atlantic should take some notes. At least Shoe0nHead understood the intent of the movie. But frankly, it's because it's that disturbing that everyone remembered it. I think that was also the intent.
