Why is the answer to always outlaw things because they are considered to be or proven to be either dangerous or otherwise unhealthy this attitude is the very reason we have so much government intrusion in our lives people should have access to good quality information about whatever they want to eat drink smoke ect. and the same goes for risky behavior of any kind so we can determine for ourselves what and how much risk we're willing to tolerate in our lifestyle choices it's called freedom the only thing that should be outlawed is government telling people how to live

I am 65. Last March I changed my diet and began intermittant fasting and excercise. I went from 216 lbs on March 31 to 170 lbs today. Lost 46 lbs in exactly 6 months. Changes included eliminating all processed foods. No snacks. One meal per day or two at most in a 6 hour window. I never had high blood pressure or diabetes or any other adverse health condition, I just wanted to weigh less and engage in certain sports like mountain biking, road biking, kayaking and fishing. My number one benefit is extended endurance.

I'm doing a similar plan. I only eat between 5 and 8 PM. In 90 days I've lost 32 pounds. I feel much better. My goal is returning to the weight I was 40 years ago (150 lbs). I am also adding additional fiber to stay regular. I don't care what other people think about my dietary habits as several of my obese friends tell me it's not healthy to eat one meal per day. I laugh as they waddle away carrying an extra 80 lbs of flab.

I was overwhelmed when I first was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. A friend of mine who had Type 2 told me to just read the labels if the sugar content goes over 5 gr avoid it. Made it a lot simpler and has worked for me the last 20 years.
@fiveowaf454
@fiveowaf454 Год назад
The thing you have to be really careful of reading food labels is the portion size. Often that is ridiculously small, 1/2 a cup when you actually eat 2 1/2 cups, sometimes things look low in carbs and sugar until you realize how much you are actually going to eat. The other thing I noticed when I started looking at labels seriously was how many things you thought of as being healthy were surprisingly loaded with large amounts of sugar. The best advice is "if it tastes good, spit it out" :)
@BradBrassman

Yes, its a pain. I stopped taking sugar in tea and coffee and just drink Soda Water if I fancy a quencher. This year though my Doctor put me onto Ozempic (once a week injection) and my HBA1C is 6.1 now and came down almost immediately and ive lost about a stone-and-a-half in weight.

@@Kamandi2 We're talking about diabetes. If it doesn't run in your family you can probably eat whatever you want though you might get fat. It does run in my family. Up until a few years ago, I ate whatever I wanted. As you get older, the effects become noticeable. I strongly recommend limiting carbs diabetes or not. I think it's the reason the western world has a weight problem. IMO Keto is probably the best diet as it mimics most of what humans consumed throughout history. Cultivated grains are a recent addition beginning maybe 5000 years ago.

Going low carb does not mean giving up good food. The internet has many channels that offer delicious low carb recipes. I have collected many of them and they are a major part of my diet, and I'm not limited to just meat and low carb veggies. For example, I regularly have biscuits, chaffels, pancakes and chocolate cake that are very low carb and tasty. In 6 months I lost 60 pounds and lowered my A1C from 7.7 to 5.4. My triglycerides and LDL cholesterol are now well within the normal range. I was surprised how easy it was to give up sugary, starchy, high carb foods. It worked for this 75 year old man.

I lost 30 pounds in 6 months by only making small changes to my diet. 8 cups of water daily, Foods without added sugar, No sodas, No Fast-food, Greens/Beans/Onions/Mushrooms/Berries/Seeds-Nuts, Garlic/Ginger/Cinnamon for great flavoring, Salmon 2 times/wk, Low sugar fruits, Avocado/Lemons/Apples/Pears/Sweet Potatoes/Bananas/Spinach/Broccoli, Oatmeal 3 times/wk, 4 eggs/wk,…. and logged what I ate/drank so that it acted as the honest broker. I only weighed myself every 30 days, and only had a treat every 2 wks. I knew it wasn’t going to be perfect execution, but I forgave myself for weak moments, then made adjustments to following meals and stayed on the overall path to a healthier me. Slowly incorporating intermittent fasting during the last 6 wks also helped, but it took an adjustment period and I ended being happy if I fasted for 12hrs. After 6 months I also lowered my blood pressure to normal, and lowered my A1C from 6.4 to 4.6.

Good for you, I'm part way on a similar route, too many go to the doctors get the medication and then carry on with the same lifestyle, I didn't have much weight to lose but still managed to lose 25lbs and am going for another 10lbs which is proving hard. One thing I found with carbohydrates is that not eating them helped reduce my appetite some. As an example I could eat a steak minus the baked potato, without being hungry any sooner despite having eaten way less calories.

Dr, this is probably your best video yet. The message from this video is powerful, eat low carb and you get much better glucose control. Don't take anyone's word you should try and experiment. I've never eaten these things except a tiny amount of dry fruit occasionally. Yet I was diagnosed Type 2 last year. Both sides of my family have it and I got it mostly because of a sedentary lifestyle due to cfs and fibromyalgia. I now believe these 2 conditions are a label for symptoms of insulin resistance namely fatigue which leads to less activity and subsequent stiffness and pain.

As a type 2 diabetic, I follow most of this.Have lost a ton of weight incl drastically reducing belly fat ( apparently one of the worst things for diabetes). 2 hrs heavy exercise a day ( rowing machine/weights), 1 hr morning/night and drink a lot of water. All the foods the good doctor talks about leaving out,I generally do - but occasionally snack on potato chips/chocolatel ( infrequently,and only in small doses). White bread/cereals etc I simply don't eat ( processed foods).This is very good advice.

Hello Dr , After watching all your amazing videos for one month I want to share with you my good results . I started mid July to follow you . I am an obese person with BMI 40 . I was 105 Kg and I lost 8 Kg . I had my blood sugar glucose 160 mg / dl in July and after fasting 20 hrs and eating lunch 🥗 salad with ACV 2 tbs of Extra Vergin olive oli , a few cherry tomatoes , half of cucumber and 3 almonds or 3 walnuts all mixed up , after I finished lunch my blood sugars it dropped to 102 mg dl yesterday . It dropped from 160 mg / dl to 102 mg/ dl because I fasted 16 hrs up to 20 hrs every day and I had A glass of water with 2 tbs of ACV every morning ; 2 acidophilus , 3 Moringa pills. Bluberries in a small Greek yogurt or 1/2 glass of Kefir for breakfast ; I had also a glass of warm water with turmeric or curcuma 1 tbs spoon . for lunch Salads green lettuce with 2 tbs extra vergjn olive oil and ACV ; a few cherry tomatoes, half a cucumber ; 3 walnuts , 1/2 avocado 🥑 only once a week not every day ; 1/2 bell pepper and sometimes 15 grams of feta cheese . No dinners and I finished my lunch at 3 pm . I also had 1.5 lt of water every day throughout the day , a cup of Matcha green tea or a cup of coffee alternating . My BP was a little higher than in July when It was 130/80 . I went for a walk every day one Mile. I am so happy about my results and I thank you so much for all your advice . I truly appreciated it . You saved my life Doc . No more left knee articulations pains . I reversed the diabetics and now I shall continue introducing broccoli , garbanzo beans from the can , lentils , green beans and one boiled egg . I have an apple a day in the morning . Following this vegan diet ( no dairy products ) I eliminated all the starches and animal proteins and my waist line Is 110 cm from 120 cm in July . I was not hungry , I did not feel any hunger after eating steamed broccoli , kale , cauliflower or Spinach alternating with a tbs of extra Vergin olive oil and ACV on top of it no salt and no sugar . Remember to eat ad Garlic cloves every day with the cooked kale or spinach . It help drop the Cholesterol and triglycerides mine dropped a lot . I use also Garlic powder in veggie soup which I make myself for lunch to alternate ( onion , zucchini , celery , 2 cabbage leaves , 1 carrot and 1 tomato ) let it boil for 30-40 minutes . Add on tbs of extra Vergin olive oil with cayenne pepper 🌶on top of it . I also had 1 allopurinol 100 mg one every day ( for my uric acid which was too high 8 mg/ dl in July ) and 1 tablet B complex . For dinner I had a glass of water with 2 tbs of Chia seeds . Everything I eat it was very diuretic and I had to run to the bathroom every 20 minutes all night long . I wanted to share my story of a 69 years old woman not active who got a sedentary life and who was 200 lbs a month ago . May God bless you Dr , You deserve the Nobel Prize in Medicine . One thing not covered in this video is artificially-sweetened drinks and foods. I was a diet cola addict for years, routinely drinking 2 liters every day. When my blood sugar went up, my doctor warned me about the artificial sweeteners. I didn’t believe it at first - How can a non-sugar sweetener raise blood sugar, it’s not sugar? - but I gave up drinking diet cola (any soft drink) for 3 months and my A1c decreased from 7.2 to 5.8! I was stunned. Now I drink water or unsweetened tea instead of any sweetened drinks. Another big change - peanut butter, I love the stuff! But peanut butter is 340 calories per tablespoon, and I was easily eating 5 times that amount daily! I just had to give up peanut butter. I’m have more trouble giving up cereal, as I love cereal in the mornings and I’m too lazy then to fix something else.
@Zeus-rq5wn
@Zeus-rq5wn 4 месяца назад
I agree. Peanut butter goes down like candy for me. I'll snavel an entire large jar in a few days. I do think a couple of boiled or poached eggs is no trouble at all for setting up good glucose control for the rest of the day. Cereal is candy. I learnt that in the 90's when they fed rats cereal or the cereal box. The rats eating the box fared much better than the cereal muncher rats. 😂
@robertstancliffsr9575
@robertstancliffsr9575 12 дней назад
I began drinking diet colas (now called zero sugar) since about 1950 when "Tab" cola was introduced. It was said back then that the artificially sweetened drinks could cause cancer. A few years later that was followed-up by saying the mice used for the testing were given the equivalent of 600 cans of soda daily. I am careful not to drink that many, and I now drink a diet soda whatever I want one. Sam's Zero Cola is my favorite. Lot of carbonation, and cheaper than the brand names Never had a problem with artificial sweeteners...........Obesity is the number one killer of Americans......reduce calories when you can........
