Bruh, foamstars is *literally* innovative and a toooootally original concept. Shooting, jumping, capturing the area of play to increase your score; come on.
The problem with playstation all stars is that they treated the game as a marketing piece instead of just... A game... Shame because i really like it but man that character rooster suck so much ass I wished they tried it again and made a real game this time filled with characters from sony history rather then what game is releasing at the time
For those confused, a Showcase is supposed to show the best of the best that the company hosting the showcase has. A State of Play is just showing the amount of content avaliable or coming to the platform. 👍
Integrity, professionalism, respectability, popularity, authenticity, and passion for the subject matter, you need at least one of these things to connect with an audience. IGN lacks them all.
imagine waiting almost 2 years for your favorite platform to hold a huge showcase, only for them to show off a foam game, CGI trailers for a bunch of live service titles, the only 1st party game releasing from them this year (Spider-Man 2),a Wii U gamepad, and a movie. 💀 Also, thanks to the person who gifted me. (I missed the gift notification in the live stream)
When your competition has been failing for the past 10 years at creating anything impressive or anywhere close to you dont need to outdo your every single showcase… Its literally why people want actual competition from xbox, not whatever the joke is with the way they do “gaming” these days. This was a great gaming showcase, just not a very playstation focused one. What games are coming to xbox this year? Oh yeah starfield and what was that? Redfall? Oh, and starfield was delayed even though it was promised to come out a year within the last showcase? Something which was the main catch of xboxs previous showcase, remember? Coming out in a year?
@@markedone494 HiFi Rush Redfall Starfield Forza Motorsport Hellblade 2 And more first party games and alot more exclusives release on Xbox 2023.. You got a movie and a psvita remakestered..
@@markedone494 LMAO! What has sony inovated in the last 10 years? where is sonys FPS? what about an RTS game? or survival? Sony has zero first party games that fall under those categories. The only thing that sony has accomplished in the last 10 years is over the shoulder, cinematic, 3rd person, open worlds off the McUbisoft dollar menu style games that appeal to normies and pathetic games journalists. So please tell me, what does sony have this year that will be so innovative? Spiderman 2 looks last gen and there was obvious pop in during the showcase and looks bad. All you have is a wii u gamepad and a movie. Cope seethe and cry yourself to sleep.
@@markedone494the Gran Turismo franchise is the epitome of failing, pitching a MOVIE trailer in a games showcase 😂😂😂😂😂 Not to mention the DLC prices per car. You must have some serious blinders on to see that Forza has been obliterating them for years now. Changing weather effects, and car damage from collisions are the prime examples. Get off your dying Sony is king and cant do no wrong horse. Also, FORSPOKEN 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Dont act like it doesnt exist.
I stopped going to IGN's for nearly 10 years now. They're doing the same shit they did for PlayStation back then. After 1080p MAKES YOU A BETTER GAMER crap happened. Everything went downhill. Mark my words. They will bring that SALT filled rage to the Xbox showcase.
Foamstars is the biggest COPE I've seen in a long time. Like "Oh THANKS SONY for blessing us with this game." Translates to "Nintendo has pretty good stuff but my Pony fanboy can't accept it."
Them making the game exclusive to playstation is probably the worst idea ever and whoever thought of that should be fired. We all know how well their first party multiplayer games do they don't even last a full year or 2 before they get shut down.
Klutzy, you got to meme "Playstation blessed us with Foamstars". I'd do it, but I has no skills. That aside, you got to remember that this is IGN. Basically a kabal of non-gamers who care more about trends than substance. Don't take them seriously... at all.
I actually am excited for Foamstars because I love Splatoon and a Splatoon-like on Playstation seems pretty cool. However, it's being made by Square Enix, I think, and they haven't had the best track record of live service games recently. So, I'm cautiously optimistic.
It'll be dead in a year. The generic Fortnite art style and the live service approach will kill it. I actually do think it has some cool ideas. It is probably using some type of height maps to allow you to raise or lower the terrain.
Look like... they are 100 % activist😁. The two dudes on the left are Sarkeesians Third Wave soyboys from the moment she got into the industry in 2009, complaning GOW, MK etc were to violent with to much toxic masculinity. The other two I dont know, but judgeing the way they talk and dress its obvious they are fourth wavers.
For me I give the showcase a 3/10. I loved seeing the new Ip Phantom blade 0, I'm interested in ac mirage and the biggest highlight for me was Marvel's spiderman 2 gameplay and new trailer. I loved Marvel's spiderman and miles Morales im buying Marvel's spiderman 2 day one whenever it comes out In the fall.
Most of their audience is made of casual gamers, who don't get informed, who still think that Hogwarts Legacy, COD and FIFA are exclusive games just because Sony had the marketing rights for them and things like that. The numbers don't like, most of Playstation player base doesn't care about Sony's first-party line-up, is just math, how do you sell about 100 million PS4, and your biggest first-party games sell at best 20 million copies? 4/5 of your player base doesn't buy most of your games... Exclusives are just for show and marketing, but that's why Sony was desperate about COD, because they know that losing the market rights would hurt them a lot!
This is the problem with game journalists nowadays, they're playstation shills. They overlooked the fact it was a playstation showcase and only showed a couple of first party games. The games they're excited about are 3rd party games and a lot weren't even exclusive to playstation. As a playstation showcase I gave it a 3 out of 10 and as far as game showcase about an 8 out of 10.
I enjoyed Spider-Man and Mile Morales. So I'm looking forward to playing Spider-Man 2 once it gets a PC port. The highlights of the showcase for me were Plucky Squire and Talos Principle 2. Plucky Squire looks like a fun and creative game and I really enjoyed the first Talos Principle.
I thought redfall was pretty fun I know that's not the popular opinion but that's my opinion yes I recognize that the game does have problems but in my opinion is still was not that bad
common ign L the fact that they are hyping foamstars because playstation is getting a splatoon clone is meme worthy but remember they gave playstation all stars a 8/10.
The thing that hurt me the most, is Square using the singer and probably the same composers of Persona 5 OST, one of the best soundtracks made in recent years for games, for that shitty copy of splatoon! When I hear Lyn Inaizumi's voice there I went "No! They couldn't! NO! Not in this! Don't waste that music on this!"
If Xbox did the same or similar showcase it would be a 6/10 absolute max!!! And tbh I'd agree! But because it's the media darling (PlayStation) this shows an absolute banger 🤷🏻♂️
They better keep that same energy when the Xbox showcase comes around. Better be handing out 9 and 10s if they show 10 min of starfield gameplay and 3 CGI trailers for live service games
If this was anything BUT a PlayStation showcase then I'd give it a 9/10 (I love indie games, Help Wanted 2 despite not playing many VR games, and spiderman was cool), but the truth is barely anything gave me the thought "wow the ps5 can do that!"
9:25 - l really enjoyed Spider-Man Remastered, but the Spider-Man 2 stuff just looked like more of the same to me. Just Spider-Man 1 with a new story, a multi-character mechanic I personally hated when I had to use it in GTA5, and I never enjoyed the storyline of a 'dark and edgy' Peter Parker influenced by the Venom suit. Sure, it'll be a fun game, but from what I saw it'll basically just be the equivalent of Spider-Man Remastered DLC.
I've watched a bit, and I don't really see what's so bad about Foam Stars' graphic. Honestly, I think the thing I like the most about it, and why it's so appealing, is the emphasis on bright colors, and how the foam looks. It's simple, but at least it got my intention. Kind of sad that it will flop, considering general reactions to it.
Hey I'm happy that he's that excited for this game I hope he enjoys it video games is opinion base in it supposed to be for fun not fanboying and he don't seem like he's being a fanboy so I'm all for it gaming is supposed to be for fun it doesn't matter what you enjoy leave him be excited I'm happy for the guy
Since the main shooter Sony PS5 players play is Call of Duty (over 7 million people ONLY play that according to Sony's accidentally released stats), why exactly would anyone think "Foam Stars" will do well? What niche would it fill? Splatoon 3 fills the "family friendly multiplayer shooter" niche for Switch.
OK, this might be considered nitpicking to some, but... How did it start at an 8 because of Metal Gear Solid, then to a 5 because of VR2 stuff, and then finally up to a 9 because of Foam Stars? How he described it makes it seems that it was an "as the show goes on" kind of view and going by that reason, not only the VR stuff was near the end, but Splatoon at Home was even before Metal Gear Solid. And while I understand he might not have a Switch due to not being interested in a lot of games exclusive to it to justify the purchase, what I don't understand is him not having a Switch but has that Joy Con pin thing on his jacket...
This is the soild evidence Sony has already corrupted the gaming industry. Imagine this was Ms showcase? Ign would definitely roast it. We must boycott ign
I don't know that's just how I feel people are going to like what other people don't like and then people was going to hate with other people likes I'm not looking forward to starfield what I am going to give it a try
As for the character designs in Foam Stars...some of them look okay based on the footage shown in the video, but some of them, like the guy with the turret, look kinda off
I feel like this if they want to think it's a good showcase Astros do they allowed to think like that this is why people has their own opinions there's games that I like that other people don't I like the Wii u
Personally, I'd rather see more Splatoon-clones than the 1000th COD, BR or Extraction shooter clones that flood the big budget and indie market these days. People always screaming about how every shooter is the same these days and then when we get something like Splatoon, those same people write it off as trash. Now, something Splatoon-like comes along and people want to bash it for taking after one of the few shooters on the market that isn't itself a direct clone of anything else currently right now. Foam Stars definitely doesn't save the entire showcase, but it was definitely one the few games I actually thought looked unique among the rest of the generic shooter schlock they showed, if only because I can't name another shooter game that plays like Splatoon off the top of my head, and I don't even own a PS4/5 to play it.
And they definitely won't give the Xbox show a 9 no matter what they show off. It could be 10x better than the PlayStation showcase but they won't acknowledge it or judge it fairly. Typically dumb IGN employees
He said that he always wanted to get into Splatoon but he doesn't have a Switch because he has a Playstation? Huh? You can own more than one platform! I have a gaming PC and a Switch. I love Splatoon 3. Assuming it isn't a financial thing, which I would totally understand, I don't get this one or the other mentality.
Honestly I don't see anything wrong with him being excited for that game and if he wanted to keep the showcase for more points that's his opinion he's not really being a fanboy that's always my main concern
All i thought of foam stars was "hey, that's neat. I don't have splatoon and it may be neat to try" but i def wouldn't say it made the showcase a 9/10.
If sony would have called this a "3rd party showcase" then i would probably rate it a 7 maybe an 8. For a sony showcase, i was expecting more sony 1st party games.
I dont see any scenario where this show would earn anything higher than a 3 or 4. The show just wasnt good. There were a couple of hightlights, but my goodness.
