INAV 7.1 is live and it brings a few new and interesting features to the mix. The most important two changes are: mag-less navigation for multirotor FPV drones and landing with pattern for fixed wing UAV. The first one is probably one of the most important changes ever made as it basically drops the requirement for magnetometer / compass for drones! All the GPS assisted modes previously not available without magnetometer will now work only with GPS and Baro.
INAV supports advanced automatic landings for fixed wing aircraft from version 7.1. The procedure is based on landings for man-carrying aircraft, so that safe landings at a specific location are possible.
And of course, INAV supports tailsitter VTOLs now too!

I don't know if it applies to everyone but after upgrading to INAV 7.1 on my 7 inch LR quad, the mag heading (home arrow direction) is rock solid. My battery leads hang literally 2 cm above the GPS module (foxeer m10q 180) and still, no home arrow drift at all. POS hold is rock solid. RTH lands the quad roughly 10 cm away from the take-off spot. All this awesomeness and I haven't even "ground shielded" my GPS+mag wires. AMAZING!!! Thanks INAV devs, you guys are legends!

On my 5-inch quadcopters, I have the Speedy bee F405 V4. With pitch pumps, it likes to yaw while going up. In fast forward flight it likes to flip. I have 7.0 with easy tune. Hopefully 7.1 will solve the problem.

Hello, Just converted my quad from betaflight to INAV 7.1. Everything works perfectly on betaflight, however for INAV 7.1 I was unable to get OSD. Do you know what is the fix for this issue.

I upgraded my quads to 7.1 a few days after release and now for the first time I feel confident of nailing the quads to a spot in the sky in Position Hold as good as my Mavic Air. Need to get the hover throttle just right but even that is more tolerant. Optical flow hovering is much improved too with terrain following at 50cm happening reliably. My yard is a mix of 5cm lawn and weathered concrete; not ideal for these experiments. Wish I had a large area covered in ceramic, multi coloured tiles like one of the experimenters has in India. Thanks for your videos Pawel, great! I'm French, excuse me for my English A lot of people talk about GPS on Inav, but few PIDs... I went from BF to INAV 7.1 on a 7'' quad and I have a lot of trouble adjusting the PIDs. My quad is not pleasant to ride. On the other hand, RTH and GPS are OK. A video on PIDs, with Inav 7.1 would be great!

Thanks for the video. Why is it that magnetometer is not advisable in fixed wing airplanes? I've heard otherwise from other sources who say that properly calibrated GPS-integrated magnetometer is actually preferred in airplanes. I am a newbie and just installed INAV 7.1 on my fixed wind build and kinda nervous about trying RTH, waypoint missions and auto-land for the first time since I have disabled magnetometer in INAV. I am using Matek M10Q 5883 GNSS with Speedybee F405 Wing FC.

Mag on airplane with tell you where airplane is pointing not where it's going in crosswind. And since airplane can only go forward unlike multirotors mag causes airplane to arrive sideways and the turn into way point

@@FPVBites Thanks. It makes sense. So it should be safe to not use the magnetometer in the M10Q and attempt waypoint missions and auto-land, yes?
