She has no range and basically just plays herself. She had some role in changing the story and writing, although I’m not sure how much, but then you start to understand it wasn’t just bad writing. It was her putting her mark all over it.

'Raiders' - action, adventure, fun and JOY, whereas this mess - boring, 1-dimensional characters, fun-free, 100% JOYLESS. Ugh.

Indiana Jones is an homage to the old serial shorts that Spielberg and Lucas grew up watching. Cheap, campy cliffhangers.

I missed Raiders of the Lost Ark when it was in theaters (I wasn’t born yet). But my older siblings rented it and as a toddler, I watched it with them along with Temple of Doom (I was too young to see that in theaters). I did manage to see The Last Crusade in the movie theater when I was a little kid.

In the Crystal Skull it was obvious that all involved were having a blast. I enjoyed watching it, and re-watched it a couple of times.

Wow... My girlfriend and i just saw it tonight. Went in with low expectations, due to mixed reviews and underperforming, but was pleasantly surprised we loved it! At a 2.5 hour duration i was worried it might be too long but it flew past. i was really happy the filmmakers put in the hard work to develop a story worthy of the Indiana Jones name.

Spielberg, Lucas & Ford all agreed on the KOTCS script. I think they wanted it to echo the films/TV shows of the 1950s. They hearkened back to the films of Errol Flynn (Robinhood) and Guy Williams (Mutt Williams anybody?) (Zorro) - rope swinging and sword fights (fencing), and bad 1950s SciFi movies featuring aliens. If one thinks about this, the film makes a bit more sense. I always liked the "nuking the fridge" scene. I think it was a joke making fun of the three other Indy films, as well as the whole franchise itself. Indiana did things to get himself out of serious trouble that would be totally impossible in real life.

​@@AnneONeemassI agree. I don't understand the hate that Kingdom of the Crystal Skull received. It was a perfectly serviceable Indiana Jones film. It wasn't the best but I rated it higher than the perfunctory Temple of Doom film. Since it was set in the 1950s they obviously decided to pack it with 1950s references including Cold War, paranoia over Communism, aliens, flying saucers and the bomb. The refrigerator escape scene was a joke based on an old idea that the best place to be when the bomb detonated was in the fridge. Indiana Jones films were great entertainment but they had ridiculous elements and were not intended to be taken seriously or put on a pedestal. Generation Xers have put these films on a pedestal probably because they have become symbols of their lost childhoods.

It could literally be blank screen and he'd still call it amazing.
