It’s not unreal, you’re comparing models’ posed and perfected photos vs natural unposed candids. No one looks like their filtered, posed photos. You think this chick looks like this when she’s un-made up, chillin and eating snacks?

This video just made me realize how critical I am of myself. Scrutinizing the tiniest details. Tana looks so stunning in the unedited versions and when you point out the changes I see how its such minor things, like her hair or the lighting. I'm so mean to myself over stuff people probably never noticed.

I grew up in the 80s/90s and we had no media saavy folks, like you Stephanie, telling us how things *really* were. Of course we didn’t have social media either but I was still SO negatively impacted by magazines (which I’m sure were all kinds of edited) and TV/movies and just hated my body. Even though I’m in my 40s now, I still had some healing to do and this channel has helped me so much to get where I want to be in the self-love department ♥️

I wasn't expecting her podcast clip to be so triggering and sad/vile. I never allow my friends to speak that way about their bodies. It's never okay to speak that over yourself either. It's sad someone so beautiful struggles so much and thinks she's "a beached whale" and it definitely makes me feel like well if she sees herself like that and she's beautiful than what am I? It's always the cellulite that gets me. I used to wonder how celebrities always had smooth legs with perfect shine, and then I realized that sometimes it's sheer tights, and sometimes it's just editing 🤷‍♀️ These videos always help. P.S. I like the longer videos.
@alexandracharlesworth5246
@alexandracharlesworth5246 2 года назад
definitely sometimes, but not always. Cellulite isn’t a dictator of how much fat you have, rather the fibrous tethers that run through your fat- these create dimpled appearance on your skin. Hormones can causes cellulite - When estrogen rises, this exacerbates the issue. This means ladies, look at where you are in your cycle. Lack of movement... Staying in the same position for a long time can affect the natural rhythm and flow of your circulatory system. So this week let’s increase steps to 10k. Weight LOSS can cause it! - Cellulite can look worse with weight loss as cellulite looks WORSE when the top layer of skin isn't as tight. Also consider, even if you are considered “thin”, your body fat percentage can still be high due to a lack of muscle mass. By lowering your body fat, you stand a chance of having less-pronounced cellulite. High levels of inflammation caused by stress or lack of sleep. Birth control- This is because the body’s waste system can’t get rid of the enormous flow of estrogen in the body. Poor diet and lifestyle- Poor eating habits (including the excess consumption of alcohol, processed foods, and smoking) can contribute to the formation of cellulite because the toxins they produce get trapped in the fatty tissue. Some people have it, others don't- its not something to feel ashamed of! x
@tdd206
@tdd206 3 месяца назад
Celebrities avoid cellulite through expensive, sometimes invasive surgeries or dangerous diets and pills. I've worked in film and advertising for decades, and my fellow mid-age cohorts go through substantial pain and expense to prevent anyone from seeing a natural part change in their bodies. You are normal. The industry is fake.

Wow what's a little wild is that when you show Tana in the red dress with the GettyImages, with no facetune, she looks gorgeous. And then you flip to her edited and it doesn't look like her. But what's fucked up is when you quickly switch back and forth she "doesn't look as good" in her real vs edited. But if you wait a moment and look at her real photo she's still beautiful. Longer videos please. Thank you for sharing all these debunking videos. Since I began following you, my self esteem has dramatically improved and my body hatred has significantly diminished. You have given me such a gift through your honesty, humor and unflinching e posture of "influencer Fantasy culture."

I love your longer videos Stephanie! You've helped me so much since I found you I cannot thank you enough. I'm 25 and some of my earliest memories at the age of just 6 years old are thinking that I was fat and ugly. I've been working so hard to retain how I think about myself and you've been helping me grow so thank you!

the tragic thing is that when i saw that getty image of tana i thought "damnnn what a beautiful picture" and when i then saw the edited picture my perception of the getty image changed and i didnt find it so beautiful anymore. what a mindfuck for the other girl: i would have never ever recognized her if i were on that beach and only know her IG...

I think my biggest issue with photo editing nowadays is that people don't just edit what their body would look like at IT'S peak. Which your body should be an acceptable beauty anyway, but I at least makes a little sense in my brain to tweak a waist a little or remove a love handle. Because most of us edit to look like what we did in our prime. Now, we're editing out what makes us look like us. One of Tana's most recognizable features is her squarish jawline. It's not fat, it's not ugly, it's just TANA. And what she's doing is making herself look like every other 'pretty girl' out there. I wouldn't recognize one of those edited photos as Tana. And that's not helpful in your career. Tyra Banks made a point to say your exaggerated features are memorable. And she is right! Your features make you, YOU! Sorry. I know nobody read this. 😓🥔

I recently had a moment where I recognized how I wouldn’t ever speak about someone who I care about the same way I do myself. I really need to be more KIND to myself. Kind is my key word. I’m 43 and just now recognizing that so I hope younger girls pay attention to these videos just as much as they do any other topic because it’s actually really important to learn

1st of all, you are a wonderful human being inside out. The duration of your videos is perfect because you always manage to keep us wanting more because you are very intellectual and you make us engage and deep-dive with you which is very hard to achieve, but it seems effortless and you are so talented ^^

Thank you so much!! I always watch your videos whenever I’m feeling down & insecure about my body, and every time I feel so much better afterward! Like my self-acceptance and love are refreshed! 😄😄❤ I have a body just like Tana’s, & honestly? I feel just as she does when I’m at my lowest. I’m always so hard on myself, comparing my body to that of stunning girls my age. 🥺😔 But thank you for making me see that my body is healthy and I should be happy as I am! 💕 That I am a “babe”!!! (As you always put it.😁) Btw, I had NO idea you were 33!! Either way you’re so young and doing a wonderful job at what you do! 🥰

I started watching your channel at the beginning of this year and it's these kinds of videos that boost my confidence so much. I have dealt with body dysmorphia for such a long time before I was even 10 years old. Even though I will always feel somewhat insecure about my body, videos like this bring light to reality. Thank you so much for making these videos, it has reminded me that my body is beautiful. I know everyone watching this agrees that these videos open up our eyes and distract us from unrealistic social media standards. I do prefer the longer videos as well as I like when you delve deeper into these topics. Thank you so much again for making these videos, you have improved my self confidence so much 💕

I love your videos (I prefer the long ones BTW), but can we talk about why these girls have millions of followers just for "being pretty"? I think we, as society, have a HUGE issue with what we aim or desire. They are not followed because they are artists, hard workers, good people or whatever may be. They are massively followed simply for their image. And I find that deeply sad and disturbing.

For some reason, in the last year or so, I find myself feeling such compassion for Tana. . . sometimes. She can make u angry but when her friends, on a podcast, talked about her not showering and making a joke of it, then I realized that this girl is struggling with depression. That is a sign of depression and she seems to sleep alot and flake on commitments which can be signs of depression and/or other things. She is so beautiful and to see that her jawline has to be edited in every picture is so sad. She looks gorgeous without the editing, but she doesn't think that herself and its very sad. I pray that she gets well from whatever it is that's hurting her. Its all just heartbreaking.

I definitely prefer longer videos by you especially cause you really help me and I know you help others to snap back to reality and be like damn . Without you I would be more insecure about myself and because of you I've been working on myself to be more confident cause I'm a healthy woman but have mental health issues because of the pressure of society to be perfect and I'm not the only one. Thank you for everything you do and the message you put out there, women need it now more than ever.❤

The way tana talks abt herself on the call her dady podcast is just downright depressing and worrisome. And what's even worse is the interviewer just laughing at her rather than comforting her. It's just vile.

Thank you so much for making these videos!! It’s honestly insulting to every woman how much people edit their pics and want to make it seem like they’re “real”. I know society puts all this pressure on women, but we must stop allowing it.

So glad you do these!! Not long ago I deleted a bunch of photos off of my phone because I went through my own Facetune phase. As I’m aging, (I turn 39 in 2 months), I just want my photos to reflect how I look real life rather than comparing myself to some fake version of me…BECAUSE NO ONE HAS ZERO LINES ON THEIR FACE. That jaw? Not really mine. Neither was the lack of hereditary undereye circles, chubby belly, weirdly vibrant eyes, etc. I honestly hate all of those apps so much and am so glad I stooped using them.

It's mind blowing that these already traditionally beautiful people edit their pictures to oblivion. They look incredible in the before pictures and most of us would be thrilled to look that good. It's sad that we feel like we cant even achieve a before image level of beauty.

I like the longer videos because these are not topics that a short quick video can dissect with any amount of effectiveness. There is a lot to be said and unpacked when discussing these issues and I feel you do a great job respectfully and thoughtfully discussing them in your 20-30 minute formats. There may be an opportunity for you to produce shorts though that could entice viewers to your channel to watch the longer videos! Although, that again can be channeling to do while being respectful and thoughtful - but if anyone could do it it would be you! 🥰
