Being a woman is hard. Our bodies go through a lot. Sometimes other women can be more harsh than men. I pray for Selena's health. I gained a lot of weight after my 2 back surgeries. I am finally trying to lose weight again for the 100th time. It's a struggle. I wish all us humans peace and health.

We are harsher than men, and it is because we measure ourselves under those same standards (those that only people who's work is their body or are genetically blessed unicorns have), find ourselves lacking and need to judge someone else that looks "less" to give ourselves value. It's effed up. Even when you realize your are doing this is hard to stop cause it's engrained by society. Effed up

I think one of the main problems is trying to meet all the standards simultaneously and permanently. Even if we are blessed with, or work hard to attain one standard, we immediately start thinking about the hundred other ones we missed out on. I think the constant advertising we’re exposed to plays a bad role here...but hopefully if we work at finding out what beauty means to us ( us, not the algorithm lol) and work to incorporate those aspects into ourselves, with the understanding it is transient (e.g. the stomach expands with food in it, so if what you truly want is a flat tummy, then even with hard work it still won’t be there for your whole hormonal cycle, let alone the full day) and realistically achievable (there are limitations to everything), then I think these standards could be fun and fulfilling, rather than toxic. But it should always be unique to us, 💯 agree that ranking ourselves and others is a cruel waste of time that is unfortunately almost encouraged by our society

In Spain, no one cares about this sort of thing. Girls wear whatever they want and everyone looks gorgeous and happy. It's the way it should be. Having moved here from Australia, I'm still really self conscious of my stomach being exposed or my legs showing. But I'm slowly gaining the confidence of the Spanish girls. I think most women deal with a transition of having a different body when they were young and then growing into another body as an adult. It’s so normal for our bodies to change. I played sports from 5 years old through college, and now that I’m done my body is so different. I have struggled with it a lot because I used to be made fun of for being super skinny, but now I’m more “normal” and have been made to feel fat by beauty standards. It’s such a mind f*ck to be honest. But I am working on owning my body at any shape, and I hope for anyone else out there dealing with the same thing that you are on your journey to feeling comfortable in your skin too. It’s hard, but we got this!

@@NotJoegoldberg I don’t want to say those are the only reason, may play some factors. My family is Nigerian and from the Calabar region and back in the day before a woman got married, some of them went through “fattening houses” which basically made you bigger in order to look more fertile, prosperous, and beautiful to the husband. I’m not sure how much poverty and access to food plays a role in modern day for this standard or even back in the day. I think it’s just a different form of beauty? It does show wealth in a way, but I’d have to ask my family why we see curvier women as more attractive. The fattening house is specific to calabar culture so I don’t know if other parts practice it as well.

I was bullied for being "too skinny" when I was younger (often by strangers yelling at me to "eat something") and a part of me always feels down on myself for being "too skinny" even with an overweight bmi. Gaining weight didn't take away the feeling and fear of being too skinny. I'll actually go into panic mode if I feel the slightest hunger pang and imagine myself shrinking down by the second. I have never met another white woman who can relate.

honestly as someone who's gone through this and is recovering from this all i can say is thank you for this video,it really opened my eyes. i used to be the very skinny girl with an hourglass figure(that's my natural shape)a big booty(I've always had a big booty, ever since I was like 11)and smallish boobs. everyone used to compliment me on how skinny and gorgeous i was and yada yada yada. plus i come from an abusive household where food is measured with a spoon and everybody looks at you when you eat and observes and criticizes if you eat too much. they call you fat and tell you to eat less,so I never ever felt free. I moved out and in two years I gained a bit of weight. people literally harassed me. i was a model for a while till last year and one time as I worked in a restaurant I told my boss(who was literally like 60,weighed like 100 kg and was hairy af) that I'd been a model and he said yeah you're pretty but you're not skinny enough did you use to be thin? no cause why did you gain weight? how did it happen? my hairdresser literally went to the extent of saying omg how much have you eaten? yeah you should leave your boyfriend maybe you've gotten a bit too comfortable with your body (coming from a guy who looked like santa claus) like what in the actual fuck where in the world do you get the fucking right to say these things about my body??like my value is ALL in my body and when I said something back they'd answer with yeah you're too sensitive OH COME ON LITTLE WIENIE I've battled with this for years when I was 15 i was so skinny i didn't even have titties anymore and in the year between 19 and 20 people just wouldn't stop fucking harassing me it went to an extent that i would cry for a few hours while changing before going out and sometimes would stay at home so I really REALLY feel for these women and if this is what i had to go through i can only imagine what people bigger than me go through it's just disgusting honestly it honestly just boggles me that we are SUPPOSED to thank our bodies because they are our means of living how did we get so far into this contorted culture that all we care about is "body goals" and how our bodies look?? not how they are our means of survival and how they make daily tasks happen, but how they look just ask a disabled person how they feel about this and i'm sure they'd say that they'd give anything to have for example a pair of legs that person wouldn't fucking care if the legs were big,or hairy or whatever they'd just want legs and all this culture can value is the looks🤢🤢 anyway now i'm trying to work on having a healthier relationship with food(fuck diets) and on losing weight at the same time, for me though. i have a goal and i want to achieve it,plus sculpting my body makes me feel hella good. now i've been working out 5 times a week for the past 3 or 4 months and it honestly makes me feel so good, it especially helps with my depression. i send SO much love to people who are going through this and please don't let society tell you who you should be ❤️ love y'all

Regarding the monstera:🌿 -make sure she’s in bright indirect light. -make sure the pot has drainage holes -if the leaves turn yellow crusty, she’s dry. If the leaves turn yellow and squishy, she’s drowning -take her out of the pot and remove the soil. If the roots are mushy and brown, she suffers root rot. In that case there’s loads of tutorials online to get rid of it. If they are white they’re healthy -generally the soil a plant comes in isn’t the best quality, so buy a good quality soil (maybe mix it with perlite and orchid bark to make it airy, this prevents root rot) and plant in a planter big enough for its rootball -water when the first 2 inches of the soil are dried out (just stick a finger in to test) -when you water don’t just give it a splash but completely let the water come through the drainage holes (in the sink or bathtub) and let it drip out a couple minutes, then place back to its original spot This is only what works for my plants 🪴 Hope this helps ❤️

Hearing about the body shaming of Selena was breaking my heart BEFORE I got to the part about her health issues being the cause! This is really sad for me, partially because I was so happy to see a more "average-sized" woman being cast in a fantastic show (I LOVE "Only Murders in the Building"!), and I thought she looked beautiful and was thinking that everyone else thought so too, and partially because I just feel so sad that anyone should be treated this way. What monstrous stuff to say about OR TO someone! I'm so glad there are videos like this to help balance things out a little and give us a forum to call out how ridiculous this all is

Stephanie, thank you so much for these videos. I wish I had had these when I was young. I am a 42 year old woman who has suffered with body issues since I can remember. My mom, who passed away at 58 also suffered from this my entire life. She worked out daily and heavily restricted what she ate. When she was in the hospital before she passed away I remember her telling my brother, who also suffers from body issues to eat whatever he wanted in moderation but to eat because life was too short to deprive yourself. I took that to heart and while I still have issues and work out 3 to 4 times a week, I can finally say I have accepted my body and appreciate it. It has allowed me to carry 3 beautiful babies and while it has changed significantly, it has also given me curves I never had before. I have stopped caring about what others think and work out more for myself than for the approval/acceptance of others. Again, thank you for your videos and please keep them coming because it is important for women to see this type of content.

My bf told me today that he and his male friend from high school called a girl they are both friends with from hs as well fat because she gained 30 lbs in a few months after a breakup (long term relationship). Girl went from maybe 90-100 lbs to 130-140lbs. I immediately understood the body positive movement and why its so important. I told him, "So I'm fat?" Because same thing happened to me after we got together and I cooked more often. I said, "you got fat too then, look at yourself." We're both at healthy weight. I lectured him. He got quiet. There's more to it but that's the gist. How incredibly frustrating time we live in.

Read that about Selena, her finally coming out about her lupus and felt so bad she had to go through getting fat shamed, when it was because of meds she has to take. The same with Britney for her mental illness, the papps were horrid to her It boils down to the male gaze, and the healthiest thing you can do is don't give a fuck about what men think of your looks. It's about you and what you like and what makes you happy and confident. And it's about doing and living And if a man (or a few women buy into it) give you that creepy once over, stare or sneer or make rude comments, call them out and switch that microscope 🔬 around onto their looks and their bodies - because a lot of the time, these creeps are extremely unattractive and are overweight and flawed themselves. I can assure you, it's quite effective. They don't like it, and it's a stress relief, I don't need the burden of their toxic shit. Here you go, Buddy, giving it back to you

The same way we have rolls, fat, etc because we are human, we can be affected occasionally by mean comments because we are human. Sometimes we can truly not care, other times we will, because our feelings fluctuate the same our bodies fluctuate. Mean people are always going to exist. Expecting to not be affected by them occasionally is also unrealistic. With time, I think we all learn how to deal better with those situations.

Monstera- aerated soil- basically lots of loose bark and leca (which is basically clay balls, just search for leca) and not much soil. Water regularly, probably once a week in Australia, in winter maybe once a month. You want to water a lot and then leave it alone until the next watering date. You will know it’s well watered when the leaves drip water- this is called guttation and it gets rid of any extra water in the leaves, it means your plant is thoroughly watered. If your plant is doing this every day however it’s probably being overwatered. Ideally you want it lasting maybe 1-3 days until the next water. Monsteras can cope with lots of sun but straight from the nursery they are probably used to an indoor environment, so near a window that gets lots of sun is a good place to start. If the leaves get brown spots on them where the sun hits, move it further away from the window. If your plant is really reaching towards the light at an acute angle, move it closer. Monsteras move quite a bit so I turned mine every could weeks to keep it straight, but if it’s completely keeling over in that time it probably wants more light. If you overwater the leaves will go yellow and stay that way for a while and eventually drop off, starting with the lowest leaves. If you underwater or give too much sun the leaves will drop and the ends could go crispy and dry. Adjust your watering schedule accordingly. DO NOT TOUCH NEW LEAVES until they have fully unfurled and gone a darker shade of green or they could come out with marks or worse die before unfurling. If the leaves are coming out smaller and smaller the plant isn’t getting enough of something, I.e. food, water, light. I feed in summer with some baby bio in the water. They are really easy to look after when you get the hang of it. The most important things are watering schedule and soil, get those down first, and then you can play with how much light it gets and plant food and moss poles later when you’re confident, but just start with those two things.

I receive unsolicited comments about my weight and appearance to this day, almost on a daily basis. Just wanted to put this out there to prove your point. It was never about being a certain way, it was always about just shaming women for their bodies and the way they were physically manifested onto this Earth, as if male bodies aren't strange at all... like there's something inherently wrong with our bodies, any trace of physical maturity in a woman is drilled into us as a "mistake". Think about that for a moment. It's alright though, all the more reason for any woman ever to just NOT CARE, and live their best lives. You can't win so it's best to play an entirely different game 😎

MONSTERA CARE TIPS: I have a forest of Monsteras in my patio, what I've learned is that the like bright indirect sunlight. Outside the need to be protected from full sun. Inside they should be placed right infront of a window but don't let it get full sun. Don't place it in a corner far from the light. No enought light they die, too much sun they die. They don't like to be overwatered. They need good draining soil and watered when they are dry. Give a good shower to really soak them and then wait until it's dry again. They don't like to be overfertilized and they need a big terracota pot because they get rootbound ver fast because they grow very fast. Don't cut the aerial roots just stick them back in the pot so they root in.

It’s possible that any medications you were on during that period may have caused the weight gain, and if that’s the case your body will go back to its normal self once you stop them. But it goes to prove, once again, that the calories in/calories out thing is a total misnomer!

Hey, not sure if it will help, but it’s possible your metabolism dropped as your body thought you were starving. It then holds onto and burns fat much much less to keep you alive. I just learned this from a video with pretty respectable credentials so I’m sharing the knowledge. If you go back to eating normally, your metabolism may increase back to normal. Then if you really want to lose weight you can go back to a slight calorie deficit. And I think by staying active and mobile you were doing the right things. I may not be right but there is scientific backing to this. I hope it helps :)

Philodendron care incorporates three basic needs: sunlight, water and fertilizer.Set the plant in a location with bright, indirect sunlight. Find a position near a window where the sun’s rays never actually touch the foliage. While it’s normal for older leaves to yellow, if this happens to several leaves at the same time, the plant may be getting too much light. Feed philodendron houseplants with a balanced liquid foliage houseplant fertilizer that contains macro-nutrients. Water the plant with the fertilizer monthly in spring and summer and every six to eight weeks in fall and winter. One trick:if u see that the plant is dying, boil not cleaned yellow onion for 15 min, wait to cool 1h,strain and water the plant.btw, good job every time👀💯

the most wild part about this video is that it just showed me an ad for some BS laser treatment to "melt body fat" while watching. like hello, READ THE ROOM, RU-vid

this is why i am greatful that i found this channel. being someone who has no self confidence on my body and even bd, her videos makes me realize that i shouldn't be too harsh on myself. her uploads makes me have the courage to love myself more. and yes, being a woman with hormones that causes so much change in our bodies is so hard. the bloating that is caused because you as a human should be eating to survive is scrutinised. the weight gain caused by the child birth which people are expected us to have is called "letting ourselves go" is being shamed. and now with what's going on, we can no longer have choices over our bodies? tf with all this standards.

Body love starts within ourself, not outside ourselves. Seeking validation is a bottomless pit. Even when we are perfect, what does it mean if we are empty inside. We change society by changing ourselves. Loving ourselves and being a role model to other young girls to do the same. That we are not perfect but we are brave enough to love oursleves anyway. Live the values you cherish even if those around you live by different values. You know what it is true for you. It takes daily work, because the daily external influences outside of us. It's so important to have daily habits and rituals to build ourselves up and reject what brings us down. We get to choose to create the lives we want. If you struggle with body shame, try this. Write 10 things you love about yourself (or like about yourself if love is too hard right now). Then write 10 parts of your body you are grateful for and why (like your arms for letting you hug those you love). Try to feel the positive emotions from this. It actually reprograms your brain on a subconscious level and it works. Its called neurogenesis. Do this for 21 days and you will be really surprised how your relationship to your body changes.

Coming back to rewatch this video because I needed the wisdom 💛 I grew up being the single very skinny person in a family where everyone else weighed much more than me. Skinny was my label and even though people meant it as a compliment, it became this weird part of my identity. Now I’ve put on close to twenty pounds and I’m so terrified. I’ve been working hard to shed the extra pounds to be this perfect skinny person again because my identity feels out of tact if that’s not what I am. But I think maybe I’ve lost sight of what’s important, agonizing too much over calories and sucking it in, all the stuff that you mentioned in this video. Thank you for what you do, Stephanie! It really helps to see other women like myself and know that I would never judge them as I judge myself.

What makes me laugh is when men demand that their girlfriends go on the pill. Then complain when some of the girls gain weight. It makes me so angry!!!

I wish I had someone like you, with your positive messages, to listen to when I was growing up. To tell me it was ok to love myself the way I am.

Thank you so much for this, Stephanie. I was just looking in the mirror lamenting my belly when I came across this video. I really needed the pep talk. May God bless you ♥️♥️

It really is a sickness of society that people make such horrible comments about how others look!! Even if you are not in the public eye you are judged by others and most clothing companies do not offer larger sizes I can’t 😮but appreciate you talking up for normal people

I personally wouldn't recognize a celebrity if they set next me .. also I've never heard anyone at airports even look up let alone scream that someone is fat .. most people just want to reach their flight on time and don't want to be detained by security for calling people fat . Imo

That's most people though. What some of these celebs are experiencing are those outliers that will legitimately go out of their way to make someone feel bad for the sake of attention. Plenty of the people doing the harassment are also stalkers on some level.
