Saying someone is opinionated doesn't mean they have to be rude or overbearing. You can be opinionated without being horrible in any way.

I think when a bride comes out and says she loves a dress anyone especially a mother should say they love it too. You could tell from the way the bride said well I'm not going to listen to you say you don't like it over and over that this isn't the first time her mother has pushed her own opinion and agenda.

Size 10 is not plus size in the US. It's 18 and over. The second bride would never appear on a Curvy Bride show.

Exactly, that 2nd bride had naturally wide spaced hips, she was in no way plus size. Sadly, sizing seems to be getting stricter, as each decade passes.

​@@kyliepechler No. Please look at videos from the 1970s. Watch an American Bandstand TV show. Young people did not look like this. The great majority of them were slim & fit looking. Each decade has seen more & more people become overweight. It is sad, to be honest. My hope is that every young woman would feel good about trying on bridal gowns. It matters.

Joe and all are the best for larger brides . They are very kind and joe takes no hostages 🤣🥲. They have a fantastic range of dresses and make all the brides realise how lovely they really are. Come on randy design for some of these larger ladys please 🙏

Randy does design gowns for plus size women. he makes dresses up to size 32. I have seen some dresses he designed and heard him say the pictular dress ranged from very small to the size I mentioned

Plus size is considered size 12 & up. Pretty sad actually. The average woman is a 14-16 street clothes.

In the clothes/ fashion world.. anything past size..8/10 is considered plus size.. It's completely unrealistic to expect a grown women to be smaller than that( some are naturally thin and petite most of us aren't). That's why they charge so much for alterations smh The 2nd lady was curvy but definitely not plus sized.

Agreed. Unfortunately every plus size episode I have seen at Kleinfelds feels icky. Such a huge store should be able to accommodate every bride with enthusiasm.

I agree although traveling from USA to a different country to go dress shopping is cost prohibitive. USA doesn't give a crap about plus size women. We're a subspecies to all designers.

This was an early season, which at that time had limited options for plus size. If you watch the latest seasons, there are more designers who accomodate to their needs.

@Richard Carver ok I hear you but as someone who went from a 120lbs to 190, just hear ME out. I had 3 kids, 2 are twins. My 1st pregnancy i gained a lot and somehow lost it all (I was very swollen and had some issues). My 2nd however, with my twins, it caused a LOT of problems. I didn't gain a lot, but they sucked the life out of me. I was diagnosed with many different illnesses during and after, which left me with not being able to drop the weight i did gain, and now 8yrs later, I still can't. My husband is diabetic and has been since he was 9yrs old, and eats a strict keto diet for it and I follow also. I hardly eat! And I'm on my feet all day working or with my kids. From 5am to sometimes 9pm at night, on my feet running. I have hypothyroidism, anemia (had to have 2 blood transfusions), have SO many vitamin deficiencies, chronic fatigue syndrome, I am now having massive pain in my back and neck, carpal tunnel in both wrists, and my knees are giving me issues. But the hypothyroidism and vitamin issues (and we are currently testing for other stuff that is causing massive issues) makes me keep the weight. I am VERY active and like I said hardly eat and when I do I am strictly keto and do not have more than around 30 carbs a day (my husband only allows 20)..... do the math. Some of us DO take care of ourselves & still cannot lose the weight. Im only at 190 but for my height I should be around 140 or so. I hate myself and my body, but unfortunately after I had my twins I have been dealing with medical issues that I didn't know id ever face. So please please have some compassion. One day your girlfriend/wife or even child may face the same issues. Or yourself. Getting older causes havoc on our bodies, and while of course there are many people out there that DON'T take care of themselves, I promise you more do and having to deal with these medical problems daily. Also, these episodes are VERY old. Many bridal shops carry up to size 30/32 now instead of the average size 6 that they usually have in a sample.

They serve a niche market. It makes thrm special vs serving every bride. It's like the difference between a hotel banquet rooms and their "banquet managers" vs my wedding planning for budget brides.

I'm surprised the store is so limited in plus size styles. Your idea of a Kleinfelds Plus store should do very profitable for them.

@@melodied4314 it would make more money than their existing store. The average woman is size 12/14, and women are getting married at an older age, so more likely to be above size 12/14. Kleinfelds are missing out on a significant business opportunity.

She has wide hips. That falls into plus size. Anything over a size 12 in street clothes is considered plus size by all clothing makers.

In her interview, she insinuated that she was a size 10. Not plus size, according to American sizing charts. Clearly, the Randy quote was not edited in at the right moment, as it would have fit perfectly with the main bride's portion of the video.

This is an old episode. Jo and Al may have not even existed when this aired. For the record, plus-size bridal has exploded everywhere since this episode, not just in the UK. If you think that a shop like Jo and Al doesn't exist in the US, then you don't understand that life exists beyond TV.

In the wedding industry it's all about trends. 40 yrs was the 80s and yes it was long sleeves or poofy shoulders. All any bride has to do is ask sleeves to be put on. At any bridal salon. Don't need to spend 5k on a dress to get what you want.

Kleinfields has a whole section of modest gowns for observant religious brides, all have sleeves.

That's how it was back then, the 2000's until about 2017, mostly strapless. There wasn't much choice for anything else. It's great to see that has changed.

This is an older episode. Kleinfeld, as well as the bridal community, has stepped up designing for plus-sized women. I don't know if Jo or Al has a shop when this aired. And lots of bridal shops cater to these brides now, one doesn't have to go overseas.

Almost everything back then was strapless. I thought I was was good to get a halter dress, but it did make my fat arms look fat. I love all the sleeve options there are today.

This is 10+ years old. I think/hope that they've upped their game since then in terms being more size inclusive. On the other hand, you can't be all things to all people as a business.

She has hips so it makes her bigger and plus size..everyone knows who clothes of all kinds are designed for and it's not anyone with curves.

The fact that she uses a term like "stand my ground", which is a fighting term, gives you an indication of the mindset. This is not positive support or health critiquing. She could have said something like "the cut of the dress is great. I'm just not sure about the ruffles.". Instead she said, "I don't like it.". One way is kind and leaves room if the bride loves the dress. The other is a line drawn in the sand and harsh.

Because they don't offer options like that for samples in dresses over a size 12. We don't get all the options smaller brides do. If you notice, Kleinfelds has the same like 6 styles for ALL their plus size brides.

I loved mom's hair. A classy lady who loves her daughter.

I have diverticulitis and wear a bag. I couldn't ever go in and get a dress :-(

This is at least 10 years old. Since then, designers like Christian Siriano have made dresses that look beautiful on plus-sized women. And Jo and Al may not have even existed when this show was filmed. But now, I bet lots of bridal shops in moderate-sized cities in the US have plus-sized bridal shops. Going to UK would be excessive.

Specially in NYC but brides want to shop at Kleinfield
