I love going shopping with you and Alex! It was great to see what you have in Russia at the discount place, the prices, and what is available. The prices are great. I am glad you found your favorite water, and Alex, his gingerbread. We used to have bargain grocery stores like that. I shop at a place called Aldi now and they have very good prices. Their cheese selection is the best anywhere. I am so glad we got to come along with you. Hugs to Sheffie, and your cat too.

Hi folks! You really have a good voice for "explaining things" to us Madam. It is easily understood w/ explanations you provide. Thank you very much! We see most of your items are generally cheaper over there. Though we know the income there is much less generally. This for the same jobs as well it is noted. This store is like 1 here call "Aldi's." The Stacked Potato Chips were marked 169 rubles. That .68 cents here. They sell for almost $3.00 dollars a piece anywhere near us in America ;- ]

I remember seeing the TV reports after the wall fell in Germany, and Russian society opened up and allowed us to see the empty store shelves and long lines for bread. It was heartbreaking! Yes, there used to be many neighborhood grocery stores in America, but not many are left.
@daveaglasgow
@daveaglasgow 11 месяцев назад
Prices are reasonable because wages are extremely low, as in 1000 rubles per month as an average, (12000 per year as opposed to $46000 in the USA) so the shop doesn't pay much in the way of wages and the rental is extremely low. One bottle of hard liquor is a third of an average person's monthly wage. Notice how most people in the shop were not buying a lot, because they can't afford to. These videos make people think things are good in Russia, but that is not the reality.
@peachesandcream22
@peachesandcream22 9 месяцев назад
@@daveaglasgow Only 1000 rubles per month??? Where did you find such insanely low number??? 1000 rubles can go quickly after grocery store visit, most of us earn 30 000 rubles per month.

I have a question - I know you have your dacha, with the house and gardens - but, are you able to stay there over night or the weekend or even a week or so? Just curious because I have watched you build it and whatnot but didn't know if you are able to sleep there. Its a beautiful property and I would imagine being very relaxing. Thank you!
@TheRus13

Yes, you can stay, spend the night and even live. But a garden plot with a house is usually a summer place. In winter there is nothing to do there and the houses themselves are usually designed to be in the warm season. Now there is an opportunity to build your house there (officially with registration), but as a rule there is no running water or sewerage and the plots are not large.
