Great video...I have a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom that did not come with heat. I've since upgraded the steering wheel with heat. I realize I know need a new clock spring which accommodates heat (if you have a part# I can use please send it). However, I really need a harness that will attach to the clock spring and continue to the fuse box. My truck did not come equipped for a heated steering wheel. Thanks.
I have a 2020 Equinox Premier. Surprisingly, it didn’t come with the heated steering wheel. There’s even a blank space on the steering wheel controls where the button should be. Can I purchase a heated steering wheel and whatever module that’s needed to allow my wife to have a heated steering wheel?
Most GM vehicles have the blank button area for the heated steering wheel. Most likely you need an adapter harness to plug into the body control module, and then feed it through the column to the new heated steering wheel. So you’d need a heated wheel, a harness, and a new clock spring. I’m not a GM expert so I can’t provide links but I’m sure with some research someone could point you in the right direction.
I bought a 2014 Silverado LTZ a few weeks ago. I called the Chevy parts department to get a kit for the heated steering wheel. They wanted the last 8 digits of the VIN. When they came back on the phone they said there was not a kit for my truck. What gives? I see everyone adding this to their truck and I can't get a kit? Why would it matter? It's an LTZ Lone Star edition.
Just order the steering wheel, new clock spring, and the harness from harness doctor! Your truck didn’t come with a heated wheel so of course the dealer isn’t going to provide you a kit for it!
I noticed that truck has the power adjustable pedals. I've read that if it has that feature then the wire under the dash is already hot and you don't need the extra harness from the harness doctor. Was this the case on this install? Thanks!
