Installing & Testing The Voltage Booster Pro In Our 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner

This week we install the Voltage Booster Pro O.G. Edition in our 2012 (5th Gen) Toyota 4Runner.
Recently I started to see more 4Runner owners discuss in the forums their AGM batteries, proper charging and usage and the Voltage Booster Pro came up as a product others were starting to install and use with success. I spent some time researching it further since we have an AGM battery in our 4Runner in addition to the number of lights and fridge/freezer combo we're now using. Clearly I ahd some learning to do because I was under the impression the AGM batteries were charging just find on the stock alternator.
The positive feedback from other customers made it a product that I wanted to try out for myself. With that being said, I purchased it for testing.

Cool demo! Thank you. I've been in hell with my Odyssey 34R AGM battery. Now it's at the point that I'm having to "condition it" every other week; otherwise the truck won't even start. I just ordered one of these boosters. I'll swing back and update my comments if it indeed solves my issue. The battery is almost 3 years old, so I may need to replace it anyway.

Following up on this (as I think I may do it soon)...do you ever have to (or want to) add a battery tender to it periodically? Or did this booster diode eliminate the need to do that? Thanks

Hi JW. Thanks for watching and asking. We greatly appreciate it. I haven't had a need for a tender on the 4Runner at all and it sits for days/weeks at a time without going anywhere. The booster won't help if there is a problem on the battery side with keeping it charged, it really just helps with increasing the battery amperage to it's recommended area (in this case our AGM) when the stock alternator doesn't have the ability to do that on it's own. We're certainly happy we still have it and have no problems with it all. Hope that helps. Stay safe out there!

Just installed one today in my 2018 4Runner TRD Off Road. 14.5 volts on Low, 15.1 volts on High setting. Matches perfect with my group 27F, X2 Power AGM battery. Will edit if any problems arise.

I’ve found on mine it will be 14.8 volt on a cold morning but within 10 minutes we are down to 14.2 volts when it’s warmed up even with just the engine running as the load. Looking at getting a high output alternator due to all the loads I have.

Hi BVN-Texas. Thanks for watching and sharing that with us. We really appreciate it. That's quite interesting to have the drop only because it warmed up. What type of battery are you running? I thought about upgrading to a HO alternator but with the AGM battery and this booster (which I haven't had the need to use much), I haven't needed to quite yet even with all of the load from our items. What other loads do you typically have pulling on the system?

@@SpiritedWrenchers the only loads was just what it took to run the engine. So ignition and fuel pump. But nothing else. I’ve seen it do same on the highway. It’s a factory stop 4Runner with the OEM battery and I tried swapping it out with a new AGM one and same issue. I wrote the company that made that booster board and he said it’s just typical hot alternator behavior.

I’m confused by this because 12v AGM batteries that go under the hood require 12v charges not 14v IE: power xs D2400

Curious if you encountered any issues in the year that you have had this. Ive been looking at adding a deep cycle secondary battery and this product came up as a possible addition to it. Do you still run this all the time on low? Any issues?

Hey I'm really needing something like this for my 2019 Toyota Camry LE will this work for my car and if not do you know of a product that will I'm trying to increase my charging voltage from 13.8 to 14.4 for the purpose of charging a lithium battery bank I want to delete the stock battery and increase my voltage so that the lithium gets everything it can from the alternator is this a universal device for Toyota

Hi 4G18SOHC. Thanks for watching and asking. The voltage has been great. Even with adding a higher wattage amp for the stereo, there has been no issues at all.

Boosting voltage doesn't add amperage for charging or extra load.
