Tenkaichi is arguably the most challenging DBZ game ever to get used to, but goddamn, if you do manage to master its controls. You're basically living the anime fights themselves. It's insane. Plus, the attention to detail in character interactions to accurate color schemes on beam attacks is underrated, IMO.

A large reason why people love BT3 is the large cast of characters, leading to interesting interactions. Like Pan reacting to Kid Goku (Dragon Ball), or Mecha Frieza vs Cooler, Mr. Satan vs Kid Gohan, or even Adult Goku vs Grandpa Gohan. And some neat easter eggs, like Devilman's Devilmite Beam doing damage based on the negative thoughts of the target; dealing massive damage to someone like Frieza or Baby, but not affecting Goku or his descendants (provided they're not in any Super Saiyan form) in any way. And the massive roster leads to characters who don't normally appear in video games, like Dr. Wheelo, Grandpa Gohan, General Blue, or Eighter.

@Madara8989
@Madara8989 Год назад
@@Y-two-K From the opposite side of the spectrum; I was a massive Budokai 3 fanboy for years after BT3 came out. As far as I was concerned, "BT3 [was] a bad fighting game, therefore a bad game, and therefore Budokai 3 was 'objectively' better." There was even a point where I'd have argued that the Raging Blast games were better because they were more streamlined. It wasn't until after Xenoverse 2 that I went back and replayed the older games without my nostalgia goggles on and realized that not only was BT3 easily one of the best games in the franchise but that I had drastically underestimated the depth of the combat in the game (because I had a PS2 and there was only local MP; meaning I only had my noob friends and younger brothers to play against - never needed more advanced techniques to stomp them). When compared to the melee combat of the Raging Blast and Xenoverse series, BT3 is an ocean to their puddles. RB and XV made the combat very, very spam-friendly by removing melee combat options (both offensive and defensive; things like directional smash attacks, sonic sway, and Z counter were left out more and more) and refocusing the core combat around "charge ki > stun enemy > throw special/ultimate." And Budokai 3 becomes a chore to play on Hard or higher because the AI just spams Hyper Mode & Dragon Rush non-stop.
@bigboss6145
@bigboss6145 Год назад
@@Madara8989 raging blast is doubtlessly deeper that BT3.
@Madara8989
@Madara8989 Год назад
@@bigboss6145 It's really not though, not unless your familiarity with the gameplay mechanics only extend as far as what the tutorials explain. Sure, if you only compare what's taught in the tutorial, it may seem like RB has more depth because it goes into detail about "signature attacks" and "cancel combos," whereas BT3 doesn't have the "signature skill" function and expects players to find the cancels and combos themselves (ala the way fighting games traditionally handle cancels & combos). But once you get into actually playing the game against other people who are just as capable of shitstomping the CPU on "Very Hard," you start seeing the limits of the two games. Raging Blast revolves entirely around charging your ki and spamming your special movies while de-emphasizing the melee combat by removing the more complex hand-to-hand combat mechanics from the game in exchange for the same loop of "use stat buff special and/or Wild Sense/Afterimage Strike to stack things in your favor > knock back/stun enemy > use rush-down special > charge ki while enemy recovers > exploit the fact that the game resets players after Rush-Down supers by putting them within range of another by using it again the moment they begin the "stand up" animation and lock them into a "combo" that's just one player repeating the same move over and over because there's nothing to prevent them from doing so (especially since, unlike BT3, Rush-Down supers are positive on block by guard break & staggering the target while having practically no recovery frames for the attacker). There are tons of things you can do in BT3 that you can't do in Raging Blast, but the only thing you can do in Raging Blast but not BT3 is utilize the new "signature attack" that each character has. That's not even getting into how busted RB's customs mode is compared to BT3 thanks to the higher-end equip skills utterly breaking the game like allowing you to create a character who can't be stunned by anything except Super moves, (effectively rendering the melee combat unusable for your enemy) or the "Random Vanish" equip that allows players to not only ignore the entire defensive aspect of the gameplay (by putting the responsibility of learning to Vanish entirely on the computer), but also Vanish when it would otherwise be impossible (like Vanishing a multi-hit attack mid-block or allowing them to Vanish all of the hits from a multi-hit attack because the skill "rolls the dice" with every hit).

This game wins over all other DB game because of the SENSATIONS you got playing it. It is so fluid, man. 10+ years and I still enjoy it. Nowadays game have to be competitive and complex, but they lack these "casual" components. Not every person in this world has time to master their skills with a game before actually enjoying it (like for FighterZ, a good game, but not so casual). This game was casual, but fun and full of things.

I disagree, the best DBZ game I want to say is really just what you want out of DBZ games. I can't deny tenkaichi has the most content especially for single player and captures Dragon ball perfectly but I don't see it as the best gameplay wise as well as it's flaws. it's the opposite for me which I like fighterz and super DBZ a lot more because the depth/creativity/techs/setups are all there and has a lot more to its gameplay that makes it more fun. It always gets me to go back playing it. I can understand why casuals prefer tenkaichi because it's easy to get into but I don't see anything wrong with competitive as well long as the game balancing isn't too bad

@brando_duurie
@brando_duurie Год назад
@@EXFOOLYCOOLY I don't considers fighterz a bad game, I just feel its mechanics doesn't fit in something you can call Dragonball. Take Tenkaichi as exemple: it seems a game modeled after the anime. They took inspiration for mechanics entirely from dragonball. Flaws or not, it feels being Dragonball, and people love it because of this, despite its problems. What I get from fighterz is the opposite. They already have mechanics models from other similiar games and thought "Let's fuse this mechanics with dragonball". Result: a good game, but which feels not a dragonball game. I feel a weird sensation playing that game, like it was an artificial reduction of what dragonball is. Personally, if I had to imagine a dragonball fighting game, Tenkaichi is what is closer to its essence. FighterZ is just a game who resembles street fighter/MK in gameplay but has DB characters. Nothing to say about it being better on the competitive side, or better in balacing etc. but for me this isn't enough, because it just doesn't feel dragonball. I'm not against the game existance because it's a good thing for people who likes it. It's just that we need a pure dragonball game too

One of the things you mentioned which I dont see too many people mention is the ability for an anime game to truly capture the feel of the anime through gameplay. People love Dragon Ball FighterZ but I dont think a 2D game truly captures the nature of combat in dbz. Many anime games are more or less 2D fighting games with an anime skin over them. You really have to master aerial movement in this game. I love how if you get knocked down you have to look for your oponent to lock on, Scouters are the fastest at locking on, but if you get damaged your scouter breaks and you have very weak lock on and cant see the person through objects. People who can sense ki can lock on through objects but its slower, things like that. Im curious to how you feel about xenoverse 2 and how it captures the dragonball Z combat experience. Raging blast seems like a continuation of the budokai tenkaichi series though allthough I hate the graphics for Raging Blast 2. I plan on making a video about Dragonball the breakers soon tm which will be very much in the vein of how it captures the feel of the anime.

I played this game to the Bruce Faulconer soundtrack, and it felt like I was in the anime. Probably the most impressive thing to me about this game is the sheer amount of content and detail in it for a PS2 title. No other games produced since BT3 and B3 have come close to those two. XenoVerse was fun, but it just never captured the essence of DBZ like BT3. FighterZ looks great, but I hate the controls. If Bandai Namco basically merged FighterZ with B3s control scheme it would be the perfect DBZ fighting game. For that matter, if they merged FighterZ's graphics with BT3's controls and character movesets, that would be the perfect Dragonball game.

Oh man had the best time with this game, my best friend and myself always versed eachother, and had great laughs. Yes this is the best DBZ game. Even better then DBZ Kakarat. Not only did it have the DBZ sagas, it even had the GT sagas as well. The characters u could choose to play as was insane. I miss this game so much man. It's the best fighting game I have ever played.

I have been apart of an AI League that uses this game for like 7 years now and I can say without a doubt it's one of the funnest games to play, and watch. There's so many characters, so many modes, and a surprising amount of depth to its customization system. So much so that we are still finding out new things about how the game, its customization system, and the ai works.

Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters - Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down) - Fusions mid-battle - Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel - Tons of extra content - Story mode covering all sagas + movies - What If sagas - Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot) - Great tournaments that rotate availability - Edit characters with items (buffs) - 5v5 battles - Really Great and Epic Soundtracks - Destroyable environments - Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives - Mission 100 being a great challenge - Artwork is 10/10 - Sound effects are great - Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World and the Raging Blast 1 and 2 are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective. ✌☯️

this video is probably the most well made video on this game although i kinda wish more people talked about the advanced/competitive aspects of combat combat techniques like -1 supers (super attacks that are unavoidable from certain ranges) and perfect/semi-flanking (using jump + dash and descend to get behind your opponent) just to name a few basic ones.

It is but could not be made today. To play alone or with friends it’s unmatched but for multiplayer you know that there will abusers of the stun spam. They’ll just do the stun blow then a punch then stun then punch. Rinse repeat until the enemy is dead. Also there are moves you can do with 2 ki bars and all you have to do is hit them and the time it takes for them to get up you’ve already charged 2 bars and can unleash the spam.
