Why would people watching the channel NOT subscribe? The information here is very straightforward and helpful.
@davemoore5222

The two main “excuses” that I have heard people actually say are “I can’t afford it” and “my TV/Network Box/Device does not give me the option to ‘Subscribe’…”. As I know that a RU-vid subscription does not “cost money” and that _All_ of my devices allow me to subscribe (and interactively pass ‘subs’ and ‘likes’ between each other, regardless of OS, I have explained many times how it all works (hence my use of the term “excuses”).

Tell me why I can't have a standard (dumb) charger installed at my home but it has to be a smart charger connected to the internet and my electricity provider which also means that I also have to have a smart meter installed. I wonder why that is?

We don't need to bring the press on side. We just need a handful of MPs to believe that there's either votes, or financial incentives to them in supporting EVs. Remember these people don't have STEM degrees, or even A Levels and are largely total morons. But they're extremely good at self interest so if they think the British public is keen on having lots more chargers, and will vote for them on that basis, they'll support it. They're easily influenced by receiving letters that politely ask for things, for instance. Do they get many letters? No. Polite ones? Definitely not. Does ten letters to an MP from their constituents feel like an absolutely tidal wave of voter contact asking for something? Yup. Remember, these people are not smart, and regularly make speeches about completely fictional ideas as if they're valid. Nadine Dorries repeatedly claimed that snuff films are real which is a particularly egregious example, but in recent years we've had at least two PMs talk about their belief in gods which not only is pretty dumb, but was also a convention for many decades that they should not do (since it scares the rational people and quite rightly too). It doesn't take many people to swing a vote in Parliament and if they all start understanding that their re-election will require supporting electrification full tilt, it'll sway them. You can literally watch Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister to understand this. It has not changed.
@jonevansauthor
@jonevansauthor 5 месяцев назад
Obviously don't try the offering financial incentives thing because the public can't get away with that, only establishment people and companies can bri... I mean, offer support that is effectively monetary but technically not under some arcane rule, that surely wouldn't influence a venal and possibly corrupt politician, and get away with it. Plus it's more expensive than a stamp and a short letter (not too long, they have tiny attention spans).

Manufacturers need to put a basic low cost 4 seat, city EV (Ami/Topolino type) with 100 mile range minimum and max speed of 50mph for town driving. Anyone travelling further can hire an petrol/diesel at a reasonable cost. This would sort emissions in built-up areas for those local journeys the vast majority of people make while giving low cost access to a suitable vehicle for longer inter-city journeys. And no, I would not ban ICE vehicles but give people two options at a reasonable price.

It doesn't matter really. If the product is good it will sell. Thousands want to transition from fossil fuel(ICE cars) to EVs, but cost is prohibitive. 2024-2025 sees the launch of several EVs arounf the £25k or less price mark. That will increase sales exponentially. ICE is gong to be dead basically apart from smal pockets by 2030.

I do think there was 1 error in the news. There is a report that states that ev's are 7 times LESS likely to catch fire than petrol or diesel cars. And with new tec coming out, the chances are getting lower. If the press published and put up all the petrol and diesel cars that catch fire every day, no one would be driving them. decades of these car catching fire and nothing has been done about it. It is mainstream now, and not one take any notice. The reason why ev get bad press is that it benefits the petrol companies to push this. they do not want to loss there money making scam and control over the world

But you need to take into account that ICE cars don't go into thermal runaway and give off noxious gases that could be fatal. Don't even bother turning up with a fire extinguisher. Many fire services are not trained to deal with an EV fire
@Brian-om2hh
@Brian-om2hh 5 месяцев назад
@@ohyesitsme As the usage of LFP and Blade batteries increases, as it already is, the instances of thermal runaway will gradually decrease, as these types of batteries are considerably less prone to it. However, it would still seem likely the number of ICE car fires will remain at around 300 per day in Britain for some time to come, and the petrol most of them use remains just as explosive an flammable as it did 100 years ago..

@@ohyesitsme according to annual data recorded by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (who have absolutely no 'agenda' regarding car types), the incidence of EV fires is 20x less than that for combustion-engined cars. And, yes, I totally accept that, when an EV battery goes in to thermal runaway, it's extremely difficult to extinguish - but that's currently for fire-service training and tech to catch up with, which they are, rapidly, with the likes of 'Cold Cut' water systems being able to slice through in to the actual battery pack itself to douse cells with water. But, if ANY car bursts in to flames - be that an EV or a combustion-engined car - the chances of the occupants getting out alive is pretty marginal - so, surely to have 20x LESS cars bursting in to flames in the first place would be a good place to start, wouldn't it...?

What is false information about telling people that EVs are too expensive. Have very low range. Expensive to change away from home. Lose 50% of their value in two years. One million sales now but that's mainly company cars and the general public doesn't want them. Only the government pushed us to have them. Government projects never work. (HS2)
@jonathantaylor1998
@jonathantaylor1998 4 месяца назад
Totally agree with you that, so far, manufacturers have focused WAY too much on building high value (high profit) EVs which are primarily focused at the company car market. Because of that, when these come back off lease, they're STILL too expensive for most private buyers so, yes, the used car market devalues them savagely. But, then, that's pretty-much been the exact same situation with EVERY high value (high profit) combustion-engined car that's aimed at the company car market - BMW 7 series... MB S-Class... Audi A8... But, Society has GOT to do something to counter the ever-worsening incidence of childhood respiratory illness caused by horrendous air pollution in UK towns and cities - and EVs can be a major factor in changing that. No parent would want to have to walk in the shoes of Rosamund Kissi-Debrah, would they?

There would be no misinformation if the government or car makers published information. The carbon cost of the battery from the country of origin. Just the manufacturing environmental impact. Then we could calculate when the pay back is and make an informed decision. A battery made in the uk would have a 1/3rd of the carbon emissions of an equivalent Chinese battery. Norway it would be a 25x less. There needs to be some benefits to the cost of chasing zero emissions. Is there 20,10 or zero kgs of carbon energy debt in the battery manufacture. If it’s was 20kg and you drive a small efficient Petrol ice car would contribute to reducing the lifetime carbon emissions. Battery manufacture emissions , Lifetime carbon emissions , based on the grid that you charge on versus the ICE car would give the buyer confidence he’s doing the right thing and offset range and roadside charging inconvenience.
@dgurevich1
@dgurevich1 5 месяцев назад
I don't care about zero emissions or carbon cost. I want a relatively cheap car that I can use to avoid gas tax. in my country any EV is at minimum 4 times cheaper to fuel compared to petrol or diesel. Excluding 3 times cheaper road tax, and next to no maintenance costs. So far I have seen that specifically Chinese batteries are significantly more reliable than whatever western companies produce. Specifically CATL batteries.

@dgurevich1
@dgurevich1 5 месяцев назад
@@tobycolin6271 There is another reason I moved to EV, and that has to do with national energy independence. Having to buy petrol means enemies of my country make money on it. Electricity is produced by natural gas power plants, which is extracted from our territorial waters. Another consideration is mineral retention from all the batteries that are brought in. At some point these cars will end their life, and when they do, the batteries can be recycled locally. That is a long term goal, but a viable one.

It's quite strange that people wanted more affordable EVs, then the price crash on used EVs happened, now people don't want to buy one because of depreciation! Please, lets all be honest, EVs work for some people, just not everyone. Indeed if you don't have a method of home charging then they certainly are not suitable. To be fair you may say "I don't have a dog in the fight" as I don't drive but everybody has one, we all live on the same planet. What needs to happen in my opinion is, small EVs need to be pushed hard for town and city driving. There is no reason to have a "Chelsea tractor" to drive 3 miles to the shop. EV battery ranges need to based on reality rather than ideal conditions because even though ICE vehicles mislead everyone all the time about their range/fuel consumption, you wont get a convinced "petrol head" to admit that whilst slagging off EV range limits. Charging outside the home needs to be cheaper simple. I'm going to sound bad here I suppose but here goes, one ICE car per address all additional vehicles to be EV. This sounds bad but I'm not very old but can remember when cars were a luxury item, indeed as a child I could play in the road outside my house without interruption from motor vehicles at all but now 17 year olds are expected to have passed their test and have a car before they are 18. We need a law change making smaller EVs (like the Ami) available to people without going through the same testing as a full driving license provided they are restricted to the 30mph as mopeds are. Indeed I can see no reason to own a non EV vehicle faster than this to travel within any urban conglomeration like London, Birmingham, Newcastle etc.

How many more coastal towns & villages do you need to see washed away before you accept climate change is happening? How many more melted mountain ice-caps or glaciers do you need to see before you accept climate change is happening? I accept that EVs aren't going to make any more than maybe a few % difference to global CO2 emissions but, unless we also clean up the air quality in our towns and cities - which is essentially down to the noxious gasses pumped out from our cars & trucks - then we'll continue to see ever-increasing incidences of childhood respiratory illnesses and deaths. I don't believe censorship of any ideas is the way to go. But the deliberate spreading of utter bollox is not good. As an example of that MacMaster proports to support EVs whilst deliberately making money by slagging them off. He will go to a place with two chargers that are broken or occupied... then kick off on his video about this always happening (the truth might be he is just a half a mile from 15 new chargers) but he won't tell you that in the video. He charges his EV to 100% and then complains about charging times... Every time appearing genuine, but it is "staged" for clicks!!! We know his tricks as we followed one of his routes and found where the chargers are and where they are working. This kind of deliberate behaviour is not helping any member of the public.
