1 Corinthians makes it clear to me. Paul said that Christ did not send me to baptize but to the preach the gospel. If baptism is not part of the gospel, it’s not necessary for salvation. Also, Paul said there’s one Lord, one faith and one baptism. The baptism he was talking about here was the baptism of God Holy Spirit. At the moment you believe in Jesus Christ, you are placed into union with Christ by The Holy Spirit that’s the baptism that matters. Finally, Acts 19:4 defines John the Baptist baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Jesus Christ.
The Bible points out that Jesus says that John baptized by water, but He baptized with the Spirit. That ought to settle it for everyone that water baptism is not what saves.

Children of believers are saved as they are made "holy". In the Original greek that word is "hagios" which means to be a saint/saintly. The only one who can make clean and purify in such a way is the Holy Spirit. This was unanimously understood in the early church. Soo many Christians will get to heaven, only to find out how simple it really was for salvation. As it will be clear that nothing they did in righteousness or good works saved them, only the grace of God through belief. Jesus' yoke is so easy that people will look back and really realize how much of a burden they put upon themselves for salvation when Jesus says his burden is light.
I'd say that if when they believe, and was all they ever believed was that they had to not sin to stay saved, or to prove they are saved, then they were never saved in the first place since they are mixing grace with works and that cancels grace. I think they will be among those who God will say He never knew them. The types who say Lord, Lord, but don't have true faith.
We have water baptism and baptism of the Holy Spirit we see throughout Acts both types of people. Those who were water baptized and didn't receive the Holy Spirit Acts 19:1-6 & those who had the Holy Spirit but weren't baptized Acts 10:44-48. Also: "Jesus answered, ‘Most Truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.’” John 3:5

What is amazing is people confusing perserverance of the saints is the same as eternal security. They clearly aren't, I just wonder if she is confused about what Calvinists actually mean when they say perserverance of the saints. I mean think it would be sort of obvious, because it in the phrase that it is not faith alone. Perserverance literally sounds like you working your way to heaven or getting right with God. It baffles me that people confuse the two. See, to these people they are probably not saying water baptism saves, but they will say stuff like you water baptize because you are saved. To them it would be 'evidence' that you are saved. Even though that is not shows a person is saved. People can get baptized and not even know the gospel. They just do it because its required of them from these places and they think its getting right with God. Even though Paul clearly says no flesh will be justified in God's sight.

This all brings me to look at Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the WASHING of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. The point I am trying to make is he washes us in his blood while regenerating us. Revelation 1:5-6 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten from the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and has made us kings and priests unto God and his Father, to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. When we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, I believe he is washing us in his blood, not water.
I would add Calvinist through scripture deny any works as both Grace and faith both are a gift from God, Look up the verse saved by grace through faith. (the it refers to both in this sentence , Greek ) of God's gift of faith and grace offends one. then clearly your looking to yourself as part of your salvation= works. Paul who was sent to the gentiles did water baptism for decades after the death of Jesus . The earliest churches did water baptism and said it weas neccesary for salvation .

The Father sent the son. The son chose and sent forth 12 men. Those 12 men are the original patriarchs of the Church under the son of whom founded that Church under the authority of the Father in heaven. There’s too much that happened in RC to even list but things like paying money for souls to get out of purgatory and taxing prostitution let alone the murder of Christian’s who denied the papacy are some reasons to steer clear of it. Then there’s the whole idols thing. I’ve done plenty of research on the subject and it’s simply not biblical. Orthodox and RC both claim to be the one true church and they both came from the same church so it comes down to what does the bible say and it becomes very clear.

Same with Protestant's who came out of Catholicism after Luther. In the period after Jesus's death, hundreds of small independent Churches sprung up all around Modern day Turkey & The Middle East. As Church power consolidated around Rome and away from the earliest followers near Jerusalem, there were many violent & bloody power struggles over which doctrine's & teaching's would win out. There was also many anti-Semitic attacks & pogroms against Jews over the centuries. Do you recall that? Do you think that's what Jesus would have wanted or claimed as his "one true Church"? Adding extra labels to what Church means can become dangerous heresy.

Calvinist dont believe they are special. There is nothing in us that makes God choose us. We are chosen because of Christ. Not anything we have done. When we are saved its because Gods grace. When we arent saved its our own responsibility for not believing in Christ. Doesnt the old testament show God choose a people for his glory? John calvin was not a apostle, only a theologian. The same is true for martin luther, john nelson darby, clarence larkin, et al. The apostle paul, on the other hand, was a apostle hand picked by God to bring a complete gospel to the nations. Acts 9 verse 15. The distance between these two categories of men cannot be measured. Reformed theology teaches as doctrine the commandments of men. Mark chapter 7.

(Romans 6:23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Baptism is NOT required for salvation the Bible is clear the Gospel of John clear over 100 times that ONLY to believe and trust on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. "It's the will of the Father that you believe in him whom he has sent" John 6:29. "For this is the will of my Father that everyone who believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day" John 6:40 and Acts 16:30-31 “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” NOWHERE in the bible does it say that you need baptism to be saved! Only believe and trust in the finished work of the cross John 19:30, remember the thief on the cross was not Baptized but was saved, Luke 23:39-43. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward faith it does not save you.

Well, Christ taught us this in John 3:5. And then in Mark 16:16 when he said he who believes and is baptized is saved. We also have the command from Matthew 28 to baptize all nations. We have the record of Christs own baptism in all 4 gospels, and the fact that Paul himself was baptized. Then, we have Paul's own language of rebirth and regeneration centered around baptism.

@@robusc4940 Paul is incidental. We still have Peter, John, Jude, and James. And Christ. Paul isn't the only apostle, we listen to all of them. The spirit of truth spoke through all of them, and Christ sent them forth to make disciples of all nations

@@robusc4940 Justification is for the gentiles because we never had a covenant with God until Christ's passion extended the covenant to all nations. Just because Paul was the apostle to the gentiles doesn't mean the Gospels didn't apply to us and the other letters aren't to us either. All of the Apostles are for us, all the letters are to us, and all of Christ's teachings are for everyone. Christ through Paul is irrelevant because we are to listen to _all_ of the Apostles and we don't need to be baptized to be Justified, we need to be baptized to be saved. We are justified in our faith, but justification isn't salvation.
For my opinion a normal Christian coming to faith by Jesus must get baptize because you need to be like mini Christ it's written than you are in him, and He is in you, so look at Jesus life : he got baptized and with his disciples he ordained them to baptize people in the sense of changing life, so yeah baptism is a must for a normal Christian that's not any work. Work is when you are doing to obtain something in return, there it is just love towards Christ not my will but YOUR WILL be done. So don't take the thief as an example for everyone's life to be lazy and don't do God's will, we need to be diligent and always careful to get closer to what Jesus is. So Jesus get baptized and told his disciples to baptized people in the name of the Son, The Holy Spirit and God the Father so yes for me a true lover of Christ Jesus need to be more like Jesus and do what He always can do to be more like Him.

No, of course not. But BELIEVING that we are saved by simply touching some water is disbelief in Christ, which is a sign that a person is still unsaved. Water baptism can be done but does not save anyone. It is grace through faith in the finished work of Christ that saves us!

The Apostles had tongues of fire come down upon them and Peter said that the Cornellius group got the Spirit Like they did At The Beginning . If they got it like the Apostles did , then its reasonable to think that they also had the Tongues of Fire . Real honest repentance at baptism brings the Holy Spirit but dishonest , untrue repentance brings nothing but the eventual fire of the pit . Johns baptism was that of repentace and was replaced by a baptism that was done in the name of the Father , Son and Holy Spirit , this baptism now included the Holy Spirit , where Johns was done prior to Jesus death .
Let's set aside the fact that nearly everyone in the early church believed baptism is essential for salvation. Let's take this argument to its logical conclusion. We are not saved by our own righteous acts. Therefore, one would argue we don't need baptism. But did Jesus command us to be baptized and to obey all His teachings? (Matthew 28). Yes. If I believe I am regenerated but refuse to be baptized, am I not disobeying God? Rejecting His command? Yes. So, can I be in perfect union and salvation with God while rebelling against Him? That doesn’t make sense. Baptism saves because Christ saves. Christ commanded baptism for the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2) It is a divine act, a work commanded by God. Simply put: get baptized because the Lord instructed us to do so. To me: The argument for faith alone and the rejection of baptism falls apart when applied logically. Who will be saved? Matthew 7:21 - “ Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but ONLY the ones who does the will of My Father, who is in Heaven.”
Besides which you know, near all of Christendom is baptized into creeds. If you were baptized as an Adventist, affirming the 28 beliefs, is your baptism invalidated upon discovering the religion to be a heretical fraud? So many play musical chairs searching for God in one church after the other. Must you swear allegiance to the new creed with every change of religion?
Of course its a Work. A Work of Faith. Us Being Baptized Has NO bearing on us Being Saved. We are saved Threw faith, not by the Works of Our Faith. Same as Abraham was righteous before the Act of circumcision. People Need to Wake up to this. Water baptism Represents What Jesus Does for us. Its a sign unto Men of Who Jesus is and represents. and a Sign of our Following in His Death burial and resurrection. A chosen People, like those who were circumcised were, as It too represented The Changing of the creature threw the blood of Jesus Christ. It is So We pass the good news on from generation to generation. The Act Has NO Value to our Salvation. We Act Because We Love the Lord, not to Gain the Love of our Lord.. The Bible Makes this VERY CLEAR to anyone who thinks otherwise. The thief on the cross was on the cross because he did not follow the LAW and was Nailed to it (Never to do any Work of Any kind ever again).. Never was baptized, yet He is in heaven right now. Because given understanding of who Christ was by God and believed in this truth by seeing it in the word (Jesus) and His faith was Given to God. The same Way we ALL come to a saving faith. The first sentence is laughable..what do we care what Catholics believe ? It’s what jesus says !!!! This is the problem the book of Roman’s explains salvation clear as day I don’t understand how ppl don’t get it!
AVOID allie beth stuckey & trent horn. one is a calvinist and the other a catholic. the former denies the atonement of christ for every human and the latter rejects salvation by christ but believes salvation comes from obedience to the catholic church.
You're stretching Matthew 3:15 to say Baptism is a work of riteousness. Jesus says that Him being baptised will fulfill all riteounessess, but it doesn't say anything about a "work of riteousness". If you also look at the Catholic teaching of Baptism, it's obviously not a work. You don't need any qualifications to receive the grace of baptism
@@OnoDiamante Yes, the good news is that Jesus Christ merited salvation for us even though we are sinners and don't deserve it. The way we get that is through Baptism.

@@OnoDiamanteThats right, because all one has to do to receive the grace if baptism is to not reject the gift of God's grace. One needs to know the gift that's being given to them, which is done through the gospel. Paul here was rejecting baptizing people willy nilly without them hearing the good news.
