Stay away from every other brand you seem to have eaten. The oils are low quality and take away from the nutrients and taste. King Oscar also has yellow fin tuna in glass jars. Some of the best pre packed tuna you can buy. Their entire lineup of products is delicious, sustainably sourced, and healthy(maybe not so much the anchovies). The anchovies are worth a try if you dont mind a fair bit of salt. And the mackerel is more fishy than the sardines. Not sure where you live, if I had to guess it would be the US, but if you can find it, King Oscar cod liver is my favorite next to their Mediterranean sardines. The kipper snacks have a good smoked flavor and they aren't dry like many fish in water tend to be. The royal selection sardines aren't really worth it in my opinion, but maybe worth a try if you stumble across them once. They're just slightly more expensive and slightly different flavors.

You possess a wealth of knowledge on this topic, Milk Man. Thanks for the comment!

They are made by King Oscar. The name is from a Norwegian myth about trolls or something

@@stevebrettell6239 I'm aware. I was just speaking on past videos. I've actually never heard of the Norwegian myth around it. Do you have sources or info on it? I'm Icelandic so I love hearing about other Scandinavian myths

That long awkward pause where are you were pondering your decision after eating the sardines had me in stitches. Was that the camera zooming in on a mosquito that you slapped? I like how you use interruptions like that for comedy rather than pretend they didn’t happen. I noticed that the sound quality seems pretty good. Any particular tools that help with that or is it just natural recording from the device? Always happy to see another tuna review in my notifications. Looking forward to more!

Glad you liked the video, James! The camera was zooming in on my t-shirt sleeve, which was slipping out from underneath the button-up shirt sleeve. To record sound, I just use the built-in microphone on the Apple earbuds. I’ve been happy with their sound quality. Working around those unexpected interruptions is a fun challenge. It allows for improv and creates surprising situations for the audience. As far as these fish reviews go, there doesn’t seem to be any shortage of them either! Haha.

The thing I like about King Oscar products is that they are very consistent. I don't think King Oscar's are the absolute best on the market but they are always good and like I said always very consistent. Some of the cheaper brands you never know what you are going to get from one batch to the next. You might get a can one day that's pretty good and get another can 6 months down the road of the same product that's horrible.

Well said. From what I’ve tried so far, they have been very consistent. You can never be sure what sort of quality you’ll get from another tin, but you can be sure it won’t be as good as King Oscar’s!

Kippers are smoked. Canned herring may not be. German Canned herring is maybe the best , and come in many flavors.

What got you into tinned fish and making videos about it? My cousin gave me a can of sardines and im a little nervous to try them (not a big fish guy) ive had sardines in mustard w crackers when i was a little kid hunting with my uncle and it was good, but i was probably 8 and ill be 21 this year

When I first bought a tin of fish, I didn’t know what to expect. The idea was mysterious and strange - and I wasn’t much of a fish guy either. Nonetheless, I was intrigued. Trying sardines was a new experience for me, so I thought I’d document it. Several videos later, here I am. To be perfectly honest, however, I’m still nervous when trying a new tin. I don’t blame you for your hesitancy… Although eating them with crackers is definitely the way to go!
