An In depth discussion on piggybacks Why i decided on JB4 and how it works. There are quite a few piggybacks options out there now! which is best for you? And what to expect out of them.
Hey bro, just wanted to say I picked up my 2020 Veloster N PP in black on Saturday! Looks beautiful next to my Stinger GTS! I ordered an intake and JB4. Waiting on the Borla exhaust to be released which seems like it will soon. Your videos are super helpful and appreciated! Keep up the good work brother
Awesome video, like how you touched on piggybacks vs personal tune. I have been running a RaceChip and contemplated selling for JB4 as I do concede it is a more user friendly and adjustable product. Ultimately stuck with RaceChip and will save for a proper tune further down the road to take advantage of any bolt ons I have. Keep up the awesome content.
Thank you for the feedback and compliment. I am currently working on getting tuned by 845 motorsports! Most likely after installing a meth kit. Kyle from 845 motorsports is a absolute brilliant guy who really knows his way around KDM ECU's. Im very excited to work with him. Again thanks for the support and watching the video glad you enjoyed it.
@@nstylemotorsportsracing1471 That sounds like an awesome venture. Wish I lived in an area where KDM tuners were at. Do you think they will do an access port at some point?
It doesn't work anywhere close to or provide as much bhp as the JB4 Is capable off! On a custom map6 with BOOSTane. I was able to make 310 WHP AND 360 TQ more than a FBO Sixth element Tune!
Great video. Just got mine and I’m loving it. If you put it on a certain map and shut the car and app down does it stay on that map even if you’re not using the app?
Yes it does! But for some reason I always feel like its faster when the app is running 😂 I'm sure its just in my head but hey thats just me! But yes it definitely does stay in the same map! Thank you so much for watching and the support 🙏
I know some people like to refer the forge intake as a hot air intake. That couldn't be farther from the truth though. I try and explain to people that although the forge doesn't have a heat shield it works fantastic and especially paired with the Forge inlet and intercooler the IAT'S are incredibly low! This is because the air going in does not go straight into the intake manifold! It has to make its way trough the intercooler where its cooled and than travels into the intake manifold. So to answer your question. I would say map3 safety if your running an intercooler. Map 4 which i have run as well is fine if you're running some 100 octane or some quality octane booster. (BOOSTane or Torqueo) now with cold temperatures coming i don't see a problem running msp3 on a stock intercooler!
@nstylemotorsportsracing1471 Do I need to have the HPFP to run the JB4 in map 2? I have Injen intake and the HKS MX45 sparkplugs. Just worried because some have been stating they blew up the turbo or threw a rod.
No you absolutely do not need the HPFP To run a JB4 map 2. I ran map3 on a near constant basis and never had one issue with the stock fuel pump! The only reason I can see your friends having issues or trouble is most likely because they were experimenting with aggressive map6 tunes and that becomes a problem if not done correctly
I am running the AFE DOWN PIPE AND MID PIPE on the stock axel back. I felt that the stock axel back on the N is very well designed already and although I would love to have the axel back from AFE. I am not entirely sure its worth the extra 900$ for like 2 bhp!
@@nstylemotorsportsracing1471 thank you! Yeah it's quite pricey. I've been looking into weight reduction and there's no escaping the costs. OEM battery for example is 44 pounds. A 9 pound lithium battery is 650 dollars or more.
@@Utsusemi wow 650$ ! Dang that is pricey. I too am looking into weight reduction and one place I noticed from the first few days is the hood ! I understand Hyundai was trying to keep costs down but I really wish they had gone with an aluminum hood. But that's good to know i can't believe the battery is that heavy 😕 I was thinking of getting a new one because in my 240sx SR20DET swapped car I had a small light weight battery but this was years ago. Point being is i was thinking of moving it to the back. I was thinking of maybe doing a custom axel back but then the active exhaust is gone but well see. Thanks for watching the video i appreciate it.
With a custom map6 and meth injection. The car was able to put down 306 whp and 360 TQ the temperature was about 60 degrees also. This is why I see no need to do an ECU tune from Sixth element or Tork motorsports. I completely understand that a custom tune is better...but in the N it's unessesary until you decide to upgrade the turbo. I've made more BHP and can simply remove the JB4 if I needed to bring it in for warranty purposes. The stock turbo is the Achilles heel of the N unfortunately 😕 with a Stuffed turbo or even better a bigger turbo the car would be capable of 400 whp and stay strong all the way to redline.
@@nstylemotorsportsracing1471 WOW had no idea with the N turbo being like its holding the car back a bit. 306whp /360 tq would honestly be good enough for me tbh, enjoy the whip man ur N is pure goals for me.
@@therealjulez7886 it is good but the problem is the turbo can not hold the power to redline. It starts falling off after 5k and at 6.7k RPM it is more like 250 WHP. Don't get me wrong it is Still impressive but my goal would be to hold that power all the way to redline. That's where a hybrid turbo comes in.
@@nstylemotorsportsracing1471 totally agree with the turbo needing it to hold till red line. can you recommend any aftermarket turbo that would work with our car? or best thing wud be to modify the OEM turbo?
@@therealjulez7886 for the moment it seems modifying or (stuffed turbo) is the best option. But there are some companies developing options such as impossible Fab and there's always lap3 and the escargot turbo. I feel it's worth waiting a bit longer and see what other options come out.
Yes absolutely! The only reason I can see to run anything else (custom tune etc.) is if you put a hybrid turbo or any kind of bigger turbo on it. It’s sad but in my opinion any kind of custom tune does not net you enough positive results to lose your warranty. I guess what I’m trying to say is The JB4 is more than capable enough to get You the same results if not better than an 845 tune A SIXTH tune etc. and the best part is you keep your warranty if anything goes wrong you just take the JB4 out and go right to the dealer!
Yes absolutely! They will certainly be able to use a JB4. That being said the connectors may be different so they may have to buy a new JB4 Because if different connectors map/intake/ECT but I doubt they will be different.
Map3 on 93 for racing. Daily driving i switch back to map2. Honestly according to what Burger Motorsports says i would stay on map2 with 91 octane. Definitely try BOOSTane if you want to run map3 safety!
I also have the JB4 gauges set to go red at 5900 RPM this way when the screen goes red i still have about 900 RPM'S to shift so by the time it lights up I know I have about a second before I have to shift. So although it looks like I'm hitting the limiter I'm infact shifting right before the actual limit.
Sorry about the late reply on 93 you will have no problem running map3. That being said though, I only run map3 when I'm really running something fast. Normally I'm in map2 all the time!
😂😂😂😂 more like JB4 Power but not for long! The video of your car is next! Well from the footage I still have. Than maybe I will do a new review if you will allow it!
You know my opinion. Don't do any piggyback, it will never be completely safe and definitely wears the engine out faster. Go with a custom tune or wait for a module that can actually flash the ecm
Thank you for your feedback! Its always appreciated. I definitely agree that a custom tune is the best option. However I have been running on the JB4 for about 9k miles and not even a hiccup. That being said custom tunes are just starting to make there way on the KDM scene and I currently have plans to work with a great tuner. The only thing is not everyone wants to dive head first into throwing their warnty away. I made this video to show how the JB4 works and why I decided on it. Also to help people understand how its used. I do agree with you about a custom tune though. There are also horror stories on custom tunes as well. And I would have to argue that modifying any car with performance parts and a tune is going to wear the engine out faster custom tune or not!
Yes that's what I was thinking also like Diablo sport or SCT plug into the ECU flash it and adjust every thing from the tuner on the fly at a dyno or preset maps.
@@cindysue5474 I know i wish cobb would jump on the N train or a company would make Hyundaidata or KDM TUNER 😂😂 and im working with someone to get the car dyno tuned but I would like to be able to run at least 2 maps like I did in my 240sx SR20DET!
That's interesting. I certainly see you're point but there really isn't any tuners except for sixth or tork. I assume people who live hundreds of miles away can't really just get a tune from them very easy! I do know a tune or any mods are going to certainly put more stress on any car. ( you have to pay to play ) I see the JB4 as a very well established piggy back that has a very long running history with BMW, VW And now Hyundai and Kia so it's kinda the same thing. He also said piggybacks can't compete with a true tune!
@@eladiazimmers8497 You can get a file sent to you flash it right to the hand held device or send in your info they will make adjustments and send you a new tune based on your data that's whats cool about Diablo sport and SCT plus you can reflash your stock tune anytime if you have to go in for warranty service then reinstall your custom tune or their factory tunes based on Octane meth fuel etc.
