I never understand how some people can dislike video's like this. This guy is helping people learn something that can help them for free why dislike the video. Anyways I gave it a thumbs up because I'm grateful for the knowledge he has provided us. Thank you this was extremely helpful.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the account password. I would love any tips you can give me.
Jeff, I highly appreciate your disassemble videos and also the o-ring and instructions provided. Me and my brother changed out the vvti cam gear o-ring, cam seals, full water pump, timing belt and swapped in a 6-speed tensioner. Haven't heard much from you lately in terms of the scene, must be staying busy! Hope to see you continue in the 2jz game and post up some more videos!
(UPDATE! 10/2020). just buy one from Ebay. They are only $6.00 shipped. It doesn't look like this guy is shipping them out anymore. You may lose your money. (Older post from 2014) I was trying to figure out how to avoid paying you $20.00 for the o ring until I gave it some thought.... If it weren't for your awesome videos, I wouldn't have even known how to fix my gs300 in the first place. So Thanks! I will definitely be buying that O- ring from you. I appreciate your videos.
Perfect i just finished the video!! So now i know you do sale the actual gear. I'm still going to attempt the rebuild for challenge purposes but really would like to buy the purple one, didn't see it on the website.
If you look up Makita LXDT01 Impact Driver. It has 3 torque selection modes. On low mode, it measures out right at 10-12ft/lbs. Please do some research in the future. Thanks.
when installing the cam gear on the cam how does it have to be on lock position or unlock position? on the pin probably this model does not use pin however for the one uses I wanted to know or any body have any article to check thanks nice video
Yes you can do that, but you will need a VERY hard metal. Maybe even diamond? I have tried using a tungsten alloy tip to scribe the area and it didn't work. I think the pulley is heat treated for higher durability. Alternatively you can just use a paint pen to make the marking.
It only needs once cam position sensor. That's how the factory is setup as well and it does it just fine. You have to wire up one side of the VVTi solenoid to the AEM's extra PWM1 or PWM2 output. Then for the other side of the solenoid, it needs to be hooked up to a switched 12v+. Then setup the EMS and tune accordingly. If you don't know how to tune VVTi, then I would suggest you just leave it hooked up to the stock computer and let it control the vvti.
Did a 1999 GS4 could find those seals anywhere,, finally found some at the hardware store but wasn't confident enough that they would hold up so I replaced both gears at 400+ a pop.....
Okay, i got the seals from you guys, went through the process of the rebuild just as you've described in the video, here's my issue... Upon re-installation, the cam gear can rotate roughly 25 degrees from one side to the other, i set the cam itself to the far left position via the allen bolt inside the cam, so at this point, ive started the car and have practically no throttle response or power until about 4500rpms. Anything you can do to point me in the right direction would be fantastic. Thank you in advance!
your videos are coming very handy i am rebuilding 5 Lexus gs-300 i could use a way to bypass the immobilization system and the oxygen sensors they are also being converted to hydrogen
do u have to rebuild the exhaust side cam seal? or just the intake side? im about to do my gs300s timing belt/valve cover/camseal service.. and wanna make sure i do it all at once
Man thanks for the videos I learned A lot...I want to buy the kit but i have one ?...where do I get the rubber ring that is in the back of the vvti cam gear that you popped out in video 4 with the tole you got of line
Ideally, yes it's better to have everything controlled by the EMS. But if vvti is not controlled correctly, you will actually lose power. The stock ecu does a pretty good job of controlling it. So that's why I said, you should just let the stock ecu handle vvti if you are not 100% confident on setting vvti through the EMS.There are not many tuners in the country that can do vvti on ems. If your tuner does not specialize in this engine then I would suggest you use stock ecu for vvti control.
Im rebuilding my but looks like someone already open the gear how can I tight the 5 lugs in which position or what happens if is in the wrong position thanks in advance
Arthur Swails If you simply know about the material characteristics. You can look it up on a materials chart. The factory o-ring is neoprene temp rated to 250F. We use viton o-ring which is much longer lasting and more durable temp rated to 400F. These o-ring kits will outlast the factory o-ring. You are certainly entitled to buy a whole new pulley from Toyota for $200 or you can order a rebuild kit from us for $20. The product has been in my personal cars for over 7 years now with no signs of leaking. The factory seal will leak at 10 years. Time will tell if this will outlast the factory one, but at 1/10 the cost the choice is up to you.
Nice vids. I have a 98 GS300 and someone told me that when doing the timing belt that the idler pulleys should be replaced as well... is this true? Thanks.
Another thing to consider is that the Toyota part won’t have been made for years now, so will have been sitting around in a warehouse, possibly age hardening.
Yes we can do custom colors available upon request, but they will usually cost more because the custom colors have to be ordered. Please send us an email for additional info powerdynamix@gmail.com
I did not mark my gear just took it apart do I need to buy a new one or can I get it back where it needs to be I haven’t finished the video yet I didn’t see you mark it I got it there were witness marks from the bolts
Did you find anyone to rebuild your Volvo VVT gear? I have a B5254T3 Dual CVVT and the VVT hubs are about $250 each. It would be great if I could rebuild them.
Do they make silicon O rings for it? I watched a few videos of internal components of oil filters and the same thing occurs inside the filter with the rubber type seal, a few manufacturers are starting to use silicon or neoprene because when the rubber is hard the silicon and neoprene is still pliable.
Silicone is not as chemical/oil resistant as Viton and they will break down faster over time. Neoprene is what is used from the factory and they harden and crack over time. The Viton material is much more resistant to heat and harsh chemicals/oils.
@@PowerDynamix Thanks for the reply. I imagine in oil filters they have less of a concern since most people change the filter at the time of the oil change. I change mine every 6 to nine months.
Hi dude! We have same problem, after we change timing belt. So dealer want us bye new one for 250$ ))) Stupid. We spend all day for searching O-ring like this. But no luck. So, we ordered in ebay. Any way, may be you know were we can get same o-ring? Thanks any way.
Did that and timing belts and seals now i got a P1346 😂. Hopefully it wasnt because of the rebuild. Car runs fine and smooth it just have that code. Maybe it just happens that the vvt solenoid went bad
I know one personally that is one of the best Proefi or Aem ems tuners in the world, Look up Alpha Omega or call Induction Performance and ask for Alpha..he's the man.
I have a 01 GS 300 I am looking to put a twin turbo supra motor and trans in it. Can you help me with some questions I have about the process. I live in Tampa Fl. and would like to know if anyone around this area has done this and can help with my car Thanks Kasey.
