We receive emails from people worldwide asking us if they should tell their family and friends the truth about the Jehovah's Witness religion. After waking up to startling facts about the organization, they, like many Jehovah's Witnesses, are shocked about their findings.
Many times, people forget about what it was like being one of Jehovah's Witnesses and how they will respond to anything we say negative about the Watchtower Society. Some have gone out on a limb and shared the information they learned online and have experienced a complete shutdown, and were swiftly cut off from their family and friends. They have not counted the cost of their relationship before speaking up and speaking out.
As minor children still living at home, you must realize that you need financial support from your parents and guardians. Others may be working for a brother or sister in the congregation and need your job to pay your bills. What if you rent a room or an apartment and now have to think about other living accommodations? Your security and well-being are more important than imparting knowledge. Be sure to take care of your well-being before speaking out against the religion.
Think about the consequences of your actions before divulging too much information about this religion to family and friends. Put the oxygen mask on your face before attempting to help others. You need to ensure you have reached a safe place, and then you can reach back to extend yourself to others.

My ex-wife chose the org over me. It's a very real thing. The elders supported her 100% because I was "no longer her spiritual head". Wait a second. I thought "What God sowed together let no man pull apart!"

My mother who is a witness said that shunning is a form of punishment for doubting and leaving the organization. I told her that its not up to man to judge or punish someone's actions...that is between that person and God not the organization. When I had to make that decision to cut my family off, I was ready but I didn't go without a fight defending what I believe is wrong with the organization. Me and my mom didn't talk for a year. I never felt so free and happy because I felt trapped and bullied into coming back. For those that are trying to make that decision to hang in there and prepare to lose that friend or loved one when you begin to live YOUR TRUTH.

If you don’t agree with JW they want you to suffer.But the Org.trains them to be this way. A lot of witnesses love to see former members in a bad situation.They love it!Thats why it’s so many people in the hall living a double life.

You are so correct in your statement, I've been out for over 20 years and as the years go by I see how cold-blooded they are. They have no resemblance to what Jesus Christ taught or exemplified. I believe the reason why they want you to suffer is that it solidifies their delusional beliefs, it helps them to continue in the organization if they see someone "fail".

In the most recent snail mail letter I recieved from a jw I was friends with a long time ago (I didnt answer back). She wrote that I was not immune to bad things happening. I was like huh?? When I was regular at meetings etc... bad things happened so much that I felt like I was cursed. Not going to meetings etc.. life was better. Of course I was told( in the past) that was satan testing me because I was doing right by God&satan didnt like that.

Superb advice. I have slowly worked on 3 of my adult children, and got them to reason, over many years. Now all 3 are out. Them reading Crisis of Conscience was the final clincher. I have 2 other family members, an elder and his wife. I gently make comments to try to get their brains working, but it's hard. Slowly and gently is best way, and back off if they get distressed. They are victims of this cult, same as we used to be.

@@denishartley3828 Amazing! When my daughter knew I had the book Crisis of Conscience she turned me into the elders. I do believe if my husband backed me up things would be different and my children might listen to me, but due to the culture of JWs a man’s opinion overrides a woman’s opinion. I’m so happy for you Denis! We do not know what the future will bring, my family might wake up or they might not. In the meantime, I’m working on building a new life and working on my mental health. I want to truly thank for your activism. I'm literally living this situation now. I'm 40 yrs old, although I was disfellowshipped 3.5 yrs ago, I fully woke up last yr & stopped attending meetings. During these 3 yrs I have lived with my mom, payed rent, respect the rules & contributed to the household. Last month I told my mom that I have reasoned, & although a painful decision, I know longer believe this is "God's" organization. It was an intense conversation. Ultimately, she asked me to leave. I was shocked & hurt & I worried about the care of my mother. But I understand where her heads at. I was there too. I will continue to be a good daughter & be respectful. Like you said there is some costs, but I believe the payoff is greater. Cheers to all who have had the courage & resilience to face the actual TRUTH 💜💜💜

Do not count on anything back from a PIMI JW.... Gone are the days of good morals, a conscience, love for children. My mom was a PIMI until she died. My dad was never a JW. Us 3 apostates helped save my mom & dad's house from being "shut down" because of rats, mosquitoes & hoarding. We worked nearly every weekend, almost 2 years, the moment my dad died, my JW mom changed their will, made a trust disinheriting my sister, me & mine. I could not believe the cold heartedness. Ice.

I was in bethel for 2 years. I am from Texas. I was thrown out of bethel then lived with a witness roommate. Then congregation bethel elders decided to disfellowship me after I confessed my sins. I was thrown out of my apartment by my roommate because the elders told him so. I was forced to find a room in a bad neighborhood. Lost all my friends and fam. Literally forced to start over. It was hard. Parents told me I wouldn’t survive. 20 years later I’m here and stronger than ever.

My husband decided to stay on the side of that organization saying to me that anything I want to talk about outside of that organization I couldn’t help him. In that case, he shut off all conversation that he saw as negative about that organization. Well, I’m leaving to take care of and save myself because In all true reality my life could be in danger and if I remain with him there’s no telling what that organization will persuade him to do to me now since I’m no longer one of them!

My family knows how I feel about the organization. My mom and my brothers. My mother and I have agreed not to speak about religion. I have had conversations with one of my brothers but we keep it mild. I think because they know I will walk away from them with no problem. I have a family and a life away from the organization. My mom is close to my daughters so if they shun me, my daughters will be hurt. I decided to raise my kids outside of the organization and now they don’t understand why anyone would stay in that cult.

The scriptures that JW apply for shunning are not correct. If someone has left the faith you are supposed to desist talking about religious matters not totally cut someone off dead. Muslims have a specific greeting for other Muslims, however they still greet you as a non Muslim. That is what is being talked about when the Bible says not to greet a man (who has left the faith). That is what scripturally should occur. But if that was the case the numbers would fall greatly!

I had a JW that I had a bible study with when I was just starting out with the organization say if I don't start studying again he can't be my friend. The thing about it is that he asked me to help him move his furniture like 10 years after I left the organization and when we were done with the work he said that to me. True friendship is not a part of their character.

Titia, same story here! I was a witness for 33 years, left in 2018, 1 year later I left my mariage. I’ve been living with my brother & sister-in-law going on a year in June. My 6 siblings who’ve never been witnesses rallied behind me in their respective ways, just happy I left that religion! I’m presently going back to school in order to get my life back on track so I’m able to support myself. I will succeed! 💜. FAMILY is everything!!

Both me and my husband kept family and friends outside the organisation, they loved us unconditionally even though they didn't believe what we believed or agreed with it. I found like the video says a very judgemental organisation, they have changed as an organisation, They lie, cheat and steal, and we could no longer be apart of it. i have also noticed that those shunning one of their own children, in some cases an ONLY child, seem proud, and certainly seem lacking outward sorrrow or regret, and as JT correctly alludes, they get constant reinforcement from other JWs. How can this be from a God described as the quintessence of love?

You are required to confess, be honest telling all the dirty details, embarrassed and punished and finally may be disfellowshipped and lose family and friends. Watchtower benefits as they make you an example and get to eliminate someone not fully indoctrinated. Elder’s sole focus is on Watchtower’s image and interest and they don’t even try to help you. They look at you in disgust. You as a person gain nothing from this. And JW are dumb enough to think that the whole thing is a loving arrangement. If anything of this is wrong correct me.

Let me add this , if it is a loving arrangement why than when u point at an elder or C.O or anointed doing something wrong they don't apply the same rule and give them some of that "love" and correction and investigate if there is a wrong doing that could affect the org image in a bad way??? Spot on!!! As a worldly spouse dropping seeds towards my wife, many times she's ready for me and dismisses my efforts. Though, it's getting better since there is no shortage of WT hypocrisy. Instead of I playing into the stereotype of a opposing spouse, I show and give more love when I engage. Works wonders all be it slowly.

@@thatgirltudy8353 I have not brought it up yet. Taking EXJW Critical thinkers advice on timing these things when its more fruitful. In the meantime, I did profess my conversion to Christianity to her and that went well, awkward, but good. I have it recorded and you'll hear the awkwardness of it all which was briefly related to the memorial ritual she brought up. She asked me, "What kind of Christian?". It had the potential of opening up a big can of worms but I diverted the conversation down to a positive and most important point of my acceptance of Jesus Christ in its purist form.

Im still a Jw, but i still feel empty... the thing that gets me the most is that, growing up we were told that the new system is just around the corner and dont focus on worldly desires.. im 35 now.. and i have to say i wasnt really prepared to face adulthood.. We used to think the new system will be here before we grow up...now that im an adult i really wasnt prepared to face the challenges of adulthood..

Great 👍🏾 video👏. I used to see how they treated those that left so when I moved to another state and faded, I went on a blocking party 🎊. I went to FB and blocked witnesses and on my phone 📱 deleted every witness that I knew. I didn’t want to get calls about “you need to turn to Jehovah, blah blah 😑 “ when I was a witness and I approached the elders because I felt I needed encouragement, I was told I need to preach more. 😩🙄. Being an introvert helped too.

One thing I have realised when you take your power back jw family and friends treat you differently. I dissociated and my family shunned me. While it hurt, I wrote them a group text and then I cut them off. They have power and so do I, I am too old to play those games or be emotionally manipulated. Everyone circumstances are different but I would like to tell exjws, don't play silly games with people who don't want to speak with you or respect you as an adult. Let them go and wish them the very best.

Thank You, JT and Lady 'C' for another informative well thought out video. I really appreciated the point (...mild trigger ...shudder) JT made about not owing to an explanation or not having to tell everything to anyone. The choices being made here are very personal and not open to scrutiny if you choose them not to be. It's so true that everyone's situation is different and some are really in Dire Straights facing the loss of family loved ones and even Marriage mates. The Cult may hold the hammer, to begin with but when you are ready and have done your research there will be no stopping in doing what is best for you and that is to get out!!

I am in this situation now. My wife and children know I don't believe but they expect me to just keep up the pretense anyway. I have a disassociation letter written but I leave it on the computer. There will be a lot of problems for me if I did that. Not with my side of the family but with my wife and kids and my brother in law and his family. It sucks because I faded and was gone for 5 years. Because my kids wanted to start come back and my wife didn't want to go by herself with the kids. So I had to take them, then she would stay home. I really don't know where she stands because she won't be honest with me. It does become hard.

The consequences to walking away seem unbearable at first but ask yourself where those people truly your friends if they cut you off so quickly? Stand by your morals and what you believe in, what horrors have you done to be shunned ? Remember all the good you have done up to this point without watchtower, they will never mention the positive and success stories of those who walk away.

My FAVORITE VIDEO!!!! I have watched this three times already! It encourages me and keeps me moving forward. Its difficult on this walk alone. My husband is still in. Now they are back going to the Hall, I see the pain he feels that I'm not getting dressed and getting in the car with him. It pains ME to see him still caught up in this cult. This video brightened my day. Thank you.

I was baptised when i was 11, but by age 16, I was already disillusioned after noticing discrepancies and several changes on what was supposed to be established doctrine. When i tried to tell my mother, she took me to the oldest and most respected elder in our congregation. After telling him what i uncovered, i could see in his face that he knew and agreed. This elder didnt read scriptures or literature in an effort to change my mind. He just looked at me and then my mother and with a look of fear, told my mother to see if his wife was out back (getting her out of earshot). He then told me that i am to disagree with anything or anyone that says anything contrary to Jehovah's teaching, but i pressed on and said 'but whats being taught isnt true......his answer......'but you will SAY that it is.

As an elder, I was publicly reproved in 1987, not for immortality, but for a surmised kiss on the lips of another sister. The JW’s avoided me like the plague after having it read in the congregation. To this day, if a JW sees me in the grocery store or wherever, they will go down a different isle to avoid looking or saying hi to me. Keep in mind that I was never disfellowshipped. No remorse on my part, I’m thankful to be rid of that cult. I always remember when “cult” was discussed at the meetings. They strongly reminded us that JW’s are not a cult. Liars!

My only son was tragically killed in an accident over 4 years ago. I have been “inactive” for many years because of doctrinal doubt/disbelief. A “sister” e-mailed me to offer encouragement. Which was nice, until she went on to tell me that her son was disfellowshipped and was the equivalent as being dead to her. I still cannot believe the ridiculous nature of her statement. I never responded back to her.

here’s a problem putting your trust in these people as friends: again, JT is right. you divulge personal information to them, you may bind yourself to them in a contract or in other ways not religious or spiritual, you trust them with sensitive personal matters about your life. And you may have done that not realizing that your friendship was as conditional and artificial as it was. and by then it’s too late.

The most dangerous saying they have to stop people questioning their changes in doctrine is " it's new light brothers and sisters." Therefore it unfortunately makes it very hard for members to be shown the 'truth' with regards the JW.ORG.

They don't say new light any more. They say keep up with the direction of the Celestial Chariot. Look at the book" Pure Worship Restored at last." That is what they are teaching in the meetings now. They have abandoned the new light teaching. Test it and see for yourself

I woke up when i was 11 years old as hard as that may be to believe, due to a unique situation that happened to me in the organization. But why the hell dont witnesses question the absurdity of the 'new light concept' or the ' celestial chariot' ( LMFAO)... i mean why can't, jee hovah just give the " brothers" the right information the *1st time? What logical sense does it make, to "spirit direct" the " brothers" to print information in dozens and dozens and hell, even hundreds or pieces of literature, give outlines to talks that will be given all of the world for DECADES and then simply, one day you go to the KH and get your literature (or however they are dispensing the literature to witnesses nowadays) and BOOM! a core doctrine, or a core component of a core doctrine has completely changed and in MANY, MANY, MANY MANY cases has done a total and complete 180 degree turn in the opposite direction. Well if the "new light" jehovah "directed " the brothers to print, make videos, talks, literature ect ect was wrong and needed "updating" then couldn jehovah just give you the correct information the first damn time?!! I know i cant be the only one who sees the absurdity of this doctrine I mean, its LITERALLY a get out of jail free card, whenever something becomes inconvenient or outdated aka, (this generation teaching for example) you can just go on over to the creative writing department of the watchtower and bam! New light signed, sealed and delivered by jehover himself.

As a born in JW ...I Disassoiate (POMO) in 1978 back then we didn't have a support system (U-tube video's) like we have Now....I look back and the WT ORG hasn't Changed ...The "GB" Brain Washing is evident in my Still in JW family today... I've accepted I'll never will see any of them leave the WT ORG just as much for them accepting me not coming back...it's Sad and Painful I'm sure for them too... it's "OK"... My Life is Good I have a loving family of my Own... I've Never Regretted leaving the WT ORG...JT and Lady C you're Videos is an Inspiration to the Ex - JW Community... Thank you !!! 😊😁🤗

Thank you JT and Lady Cee. I always look forward to your logical and honest content. I have thought of returning but sitting in that KH hearing there nonsense just makes me cringe. I have always regretted never having a higher education....I work very hard and am self taught having been for last 22 years in engineering field, my colleagues are shocked that I don't have a degree and commend me for my success. I always think of your words to not become a statistic....the JW community expects you to fail once you leave and while its hard on your own it's not impossible. Thank you again 💓

Factual presentation in regards to family and friends reactions to anything that goes against WT. Yes, they are so emboldened to tell others that they treat their kids as deceased or they have someone else that's like a mother/father figure in the organization. Love your Podcast JT and Lady Cee ... you know its sad... when brothers and sisters wake up ...They are lost... because they are so used to following a JW script on how to live their life... and like you said every situation is so different ..its like a fingerprint ...only you can decide how YOU want to live your life without the JW's and whats the best way to go about leaving the Org... depending on how connected you are in the JW world... You have to watch how you move and leave it...Some dont give a Damn and the leave and let the world know and let the Chips fall where they may... Some simply cant move in that matter...Every situation is different...at the end ..be wise and be strategic on how you intend to leave the Org...to minimize the damage....Also P.S. if any Jw threatens to fire you or kick you out of your home that your renting out from them because they state they feel funny doing business with you because your no longer a JW ...please oh please threaten them right back with Taking their Ass to court if they think about doing so (thats highly illegal)... and document everything.

I strongly believe there are 2 situations about religion in the life : 1- What the truth is. 2- What is not the truth. So important is one like the other, at this day and time we ( or at least just me ) certainly don't know what the truth is but with people like you guys we definitely know what is not the truth that we believed once. The scriptures started: We will know the truth and the truth we'll set us free " We had been knowing by you the truth about " the Jw's truth " and now we're free of such lies and cult influences, your reasoning, critical thinking and kindness opened our spiritual eyes to see across the foggy lies from the cult. we never cut out our so called worldly family. once we disassociated from jw we apologized to our " worldly " family and were so thankful that they never listened to us. we also told the truth about the truth to our family to make sure they would twice before ever contemplating taking a bible study- need to protect your " worldly family " from this harmful cult. Jt and Lady Cee we love you both for all you and others do to help so many escape with confidence. I finally told my daughter that is still in and shunning me ( she called me while I was in the hospital) that I am now done with her. She shuns me , now I will shun her likewise- if you can't call me when I am well- do not call me when I am sick. Too many good people in this world to waste my time on a bunch of hypocrites.

I used to ask innocent questions to my aunt like "Can you help me understand something? I read the article on the new understanding of "generation," but I don't really get it. Can you explain it to me in simple terms?" Of course she couldn't. Lol. I finally couldn't take being undercover anymore enduring her stories of how well her Bible study was progressing (I wanted so badly to warn him to get out now while you still can!) and telling me she prays for me to "come back to Jehovah," so out of irritation, I blurted out that that was never going to happen and that she is in a false religion. Shun City after that.
