I saw the last 4 shows of that tour in North America and his vocals were great. Even on song remains the same! I had bootlegs of nagoya Japan and Osaka second leg of the tour and black dog sounded like studio recording in 70’s! Good memories 😁

Saw PAGE & PLANT Montreal show with Egyptian symphonic Orchestra, most amazing show ever, Kashmir....WOW !!!, that show was even better than when I saw Led Zeppelin at the Montreal Forum in '69 (first time ever people in the audience lit their lighters up following John Lennon's message from Toronto where he was playing with Ono, saying to Plant to do so). Oh yes, but wouldn't it have been the damn best moment if Bonham's son, Jason was playing those damn drum's?? Jimmy Page himself said, that sometimes when they'd be practicing Jason would be playing the damn drum's even at 5 year's old, and said he'd be shocked because the kid played as well as his dad did and yes, at 5 year's old!!! @djh1010 4 года назад
Yeah his latter 70’s approach, while still a great entertainer, his voice was blown. You’d think switching to the pop style of the 80’s would have been easier on him, but he played with different vocal styles and approaches. You’re right, the 90’s are when he finally settled in with what he still does now, but it gave him back a lot of that vocal ammo when he needed it, just didn’t use it all the time. He also started taking better care of his voice in the 90’s.

@@djh1010 his voice in 77 and 79 was actually very good . It was the latter part of 72 73 and 75 when his voice was really blown . He was actually able to hit some pretty crazy high notes in 77 79 and 80 where he could not in 73 and 75 but in the latter 70s he hit the high notes very sparingly to save his voice . There is version or over the hills and far away form 77 where he sings it in the original high melody and he sounds surprisingly good he could have utilized his upper range alot more in the late 70s but he was being cautious. 77 to 83 was probably his strongest period after mid 72. He hits alot of high notes on his 198e sool tour and his voice never really cracks or feta horse . After zepplein the 83 solo tour was probably his most powerful and consistent. Those first 2 solo albums are both filled with aggressive wide range vocals . The second leg of the 77 tour has some very powerful singing form plant especially the New York and l..A shows

I don't get it. How can Plants voice be that high in '95? By the time of the last zep album his voice was ragged, hoarse and raw. Not bad but not able to hit the high notes anymore. Same with the Knebworth concert in '79. Or the LIVE AID performance in '85. Voice always hoarse and raw. So what happened? How did he fix his voice to sound pretty close to the early days? Was he singing to pre recorded tracks? I wonder.

Thought Jimmy sounded absolutely insane. Then realized there is a second guitarist and that’s what giving the tone such crunch and body. The other guitarist is playing very cleanly. And before anyone says anything. Zeppelin and Jimmy Page forever. Sloppy? Would rather hear page play than any “virtuoso” Just wish we got more of the 71-72 (possibly 73) Jimmy Page. Of course, the sound and video quality of Page and Plant shows in the 90's out did the technology of the Led Zeppelin concerts of the 70's. But one thing that would have made it all so much better, would have been the presence of John Paul Jones! If only we could go back in time to fix those mistakes.

Amusing. I agree that while in the mid-to-late '70's that various excesses made them somewhat sloppy, they were unbelievable live from about 1969 - 1973. In 1972 they were absolutely smoking!!

Good thing you had that otherwise you would have flunked out. Check out the Coverdale/Page album. Really good. You will want to turn that mother up too. Released March 93. Oh, been a Zeppelin fan since 69. Have everything they ever did. Saw them live back in the day. God Bless!

I saw Page and Plant in Cleveland back in 98. Hell of a show. I don't remember Page having a second back up guitar player. When they played No Quarter, I thought JPJ made a surprise quest but it was a guy that kinda looked like him. Pity Jonsey was left out in 95 and 98.

@@Americanspy-hn2kw Page and Plant didn't invite him to tour with them in 95 or 98. JPJ was hurt by that. When LZ got inducted into the RR Hall of Fame, JPJ made his speech and said, " I'm glad you remember my phone number. An obvious jab at Page and Plant.

Michael Lee on drums was the reason Led Zepp came back from the dead in the 90's.....no he wasn't Bonham but he was the next best thing.....his energy made Plant and Page smile every night and that's all they needed.....

I'm sure it was a good show. I saw them in New Haven CT. I skipped school that day to make a Firm banner out of a bed sheet. It was a replica version of there first album cover. At the end of the show my buddy and I hoisted it up. Jimmy Page pointed at it , did a thumbs up and head nod with a cigarette in his hand. Good times. Memories last a life time .
