Mahalia MAKES this number SOAR! The horns are impossible to ignore yet EVERY single time Ms. Barnes belts out her work it just goes to another level!!!
Took me a minute to figure it out but I know her as one of the 3 back up singers for Joe's band. I had no idea though. Why isn't she headlining? Back up singing is way below this person's station... I should know her name from hit singles and I dont. *picks jaw up off of the floor* Let her go Joe, so she can fulfill her destiny.
Joe needs to be applauded for bringing Mahalia to the front. Those two together get every old sack there is on his feet. I'm loving Joe's work for years. Outstanding. But now it is a whole new level of artistry and energy. Thanks for bringing out Mahalia, I love her!
I've been listening to Gimmie Shelter for 50 years and thought that Merry Clayton's voice was untouchable.. . Guess what!!? Mahalia's voice is something else!!! ❤ God love ya. Keep on keeping on! You utter legend!! Oh and well done Joe!!! 🤗
Hey Jason check out THIS shit. Australia's greatest (Tongan) vocalist Vika Bull ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0KJ8jRTnsFk.htmlsi=IMPzXaex8xhVY46F
OMG Her voice is amazing! Perfect for this song. She has the proper soul-Franklin-bite to her voice. I hope she will get far. Joe is good too, and this arrangement with the full brass section is great and is very respectful to the original!
I love this version of Riding with the King very much and I love Eric Clapton and B.B. King`s version of Riding with the King very much but none of these are like the original version written and recorded by the great John Hiatt as a tribute to the King of Rock`n`Roll Elvis Presley they even changed some lyrics to suit their versions ...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Mpv9jbYg4k0.html
She's doing backup work with Joe Bonamassa, and yet Selena Gomez is putting out records? What the hell is wrong with the music industry? This gal CRUSHES 90 percent of the female artists you'll hear on the radio.... So sad.
Mahalia Barnes is a stone cold powerhouse! I'm ashamed I wasn't aware of her earlier. I have no reservations in saying she is absolutely among the very best blues/R&B singers since the earth cooled. Pure, natural astounding voice. You can have Prinnie - she's very good but she's no Mahalia. Joe's a decent singer, but this lady is a rare jewel. I can't think of a living blues singer that is the total package of singing talent.
Absolutely amazing voice. Wow God has blessed her with such vocals talent. Great song and I hope she continues to sing because she deserves everything.
How the fuck could 476 people give this a thumbs down, unless they think this song shouldn't be done by anyone except King/Clapton. Mahalia tears it up, great singing genes from her dad, Jimmy Barnes, one the the hidden treasures of Aussies.
Mahlia Barnes is incredible and a throwback to a time when music was absolutely great. But with her powerful voice, pitch, and soul I can't help but think - she ain't from this planet!!!
Well....... THAT's Joe ! And he knows to find the right people around him, time after time. Joe is a kind of shy man, but man can he play that guitar !
@@williamleckrone1628 With some East Tennessee (Erwin) roots, I picked it up there..just about 25 miles from Bristol where the whole hillbilly music thing ignited;. Yep. Now in Utica NY...but can't "hep" speaking hillbilly every now n then Thanks for the response.
Super super cover. Wouldn't expect any different from Bonamassa, but the wonderful Mahalia Barnes * * * * *, Jade MacRae and Juanita Tippins add a wonderful punch to the song. As for the musicians and production, nothing more than we would expect from such a great bunch of top notch guys. * * * * * to them. Already on my car's playlist.
Gosh that lady has fell right from the heavens, what a lovely musical chemistry between all the group ! God bless all the artists and all the listeners ! Love u all !
Good God she can sing, singin' with heart and conviction, Joe is badass as they come, everybody knows that but good lord, Jesus, she just tears it all to pieces and I was feelin' it every bit as much as I was hearin' it, make you wanna move like Aretha did when she sang, lord have mercy ~
In my opinion, one of the greatest guitar players of all time. And he will be only 40 years old on May 8th, 2017. So, we can wait for more, much more.....
Wow. Joe and Carlos Santana seem to be able to assemble such great guests for their recordings/concerts. This lady has some serious pipes and some great vocal chops to go with them.
The first time I heard this song was on a CD I picked up with BB King & Eric Clapton ... IMHO, it was the best song on the CD! Obviously, Joe is in the same class of guitarist as Eric so when I saw this being recommended I had to check it out. OMG! That young lady has got some pipes! I love her voice .. thank you, Joe, for putting her out there for us to enjoy! I hope to see your show when you're at Caesar's in Oct.
The real beauty of this man and all those that surround him is they are all part and parcile of the sound you hear. God has really blessed us with this fabulous group of wonderful and talented people.
Joe without black glasses and this incredible singer, whaouhh!!!, thank you John Hyatt for writing this fabulous song, an other piece in the list of all fantastic covers of this song
Great video! JB not only plays great, he sings great now too. He has worked his ass off to be where he is, both artistically, and also in terms of the music business. Wishing JB much continued well-deserved success. Thank you Mr JB for carrying the torch!
@@TiernanWilkinson I think John wrote it back around 84 andBB and Clapton recorded it around 2001. He rewrote some of the lyrics for them . I’m just a Big John Hiatt fan so I know all these nerdy things. Lol
Damn, that's all just Damn! Everybody in the studio sure earned their paycheck that day. Guys had to come in and throw water on the amps and speakers to cool them down.
Have you noticed, B B King & Clapton Running with the King, vs. Joe Bonamassa and Mahalia's Running with the KingS? This subtle difference must be reflecting passing on skills and spirit on to new generation.
Joe Bonamassa one of the best guitarists to ever pull on a strap in my opinion just totally awesome. And Mahalia you certainly inherited your dads set of pipes thats for sure
Killer. Absolutely killer version. Much respect to Ms. Barnes. Simply a jewel, natural and true. I'd love to have seen Joe use a vintage LP or an ES though... just sayin' h
I feel like I'm in a full-fledged gospel joy concert ….. dang it Mahalia! YOU ARE SOMETHING ELSE! Joe: Keep this up …. THIS IS YOUR BEST AREA! Very inspiring … and I'll be dancing around all day!
