unlike a Dendrobium keiki, you can't remove a keiki from a Catasetum until after it has matured a bulb, otherwise it will just die. You're kind of in a pickle there, I would normally say to cut the bulb at the node below the lowest keiki, apply cinnamon and then rest the cut part on sphagnum until the roots are 2-3" into the moss before watering. But, if you do that, you're removing most of the old bulb, which will affect the larger new growth. But, leaving the keikis on is drawing available energy as well. Probably best just to remove them to allow the plant to focus on the main growth, even though they won't survive on their own.

Hi Michael 👋 Loving my new orchid plant. I went with the semi-hydro system for it and it seems to live it. Lots of new root growth and it looks like it will only drop one leaf. Wish I could add a picture.

I have dehydrated orchid blooms as well but have not gone that extra step to preserve them in resin. Beautiful... although it is tough to cut off fresh blooms 😅

Question, I have a small orchid plant that has a spike with no flowers. It’s still green, shoulD I cut it off? It’s been on the orchids for over 6 months. Beautiful collection and thank you for a great page.
