Vice President Kamala Harris gave a disastrous interview with CNN about the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the Roe v. Wade decision, refusing to give a clear answer on the Democrats’ plans to codify abortion rights as federal law. Unsurprisingly, Harris tried to cover for her Party’s failures by throwing cold water on the idea of eliminating the filibuster and just telling Americans to vote harder for Democrats next election. “Vice President Kamala Harris told CNN’s Dana Bash the Biden administration isn’t prepared to seek a carveout for abortion rights when it comes to the Senate filibuster.
Last week, the Supreme Court ruled in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that the Constitution to does provide for the right to an abortion. The ruling overturned 49 years of court precedent.
The decision has left pro-choice advocates scrambling for possible solutions as states across the country have begun outlawing abortion. Some liberals have called on the Democratic-controlled Congress to codify abortion rights into federal law. Currently, Democrats control the 50-50 Senate, but there is a 60-vote threshold that must be met to pass most legislation. Advocates say Democrats should attempt to carve out an exception to the filibuster for reproductive rights.
Such a measure would require the assent of all 50 Democratic senators, including Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, both of whom have been vehemently opposed to tinkering with the arcane procedure.
Bash asked Harris, “What do you say to Democratic voters who argue, ‘What a minute. We worked really hard to elect a Democratic president and vice president, a Democratic-led House, a Democratic-led Senate. Do it now'”?
Harris responded, “But do what now?””

It seems that Kamala went into this interview with the singular goal of repeating a single talking point: Donate to, and vote for, Democrats in November. Our system is so broken that the politicians we elected are _purposely_ avoiding any legislative action to fix the most obvious problem, and _only_ because they see an opportunity to campaign and fundraise on this issue for the next 5 months. They know that fixing the problem may get them some votes, but their goal isn't just votes... this is about the MONEY. And if they pass a law to codify Roe, then they won't be able to use the latest hot-button issue to scare pro-choice voters into sending them mountains of precious cash all the way to November. The Democrats won't say it, but they're holding abortion-rights hostage. THEY are the ones holding a gun to the head of women's rights and threatening to pull the trigger if we don't absolutely drown them in a sea of money. And the saddest part is that they _still_ likely won't fix the problem, even if we do give them every penny we've got and manage to elect twelve more Democratic Senators in a filibuster-proof majority. Because some consultant will point out that 2024 is right around the corner, and that they could theoretically pull the same tactic again, as long as the problem remains unsolved.

A whole lot of words that lack basic understanding of how things work. There is no point to writing federal abortion legislation that the current court will strike down. The time to take up this fight was during the 2020 elections when ignorant militant progressives went bernie or bust and helped hand the white house to trump. Now we have to ride it out until the court changes ideologically or the conservative court sees the GOP will not win elections as long as abortion rights is an issue. Quit watching TYT. They are the fox news of the left. They have made progressives ignorant

In the Senate both political parties love to bring up the filibuster when it's convenient for them, but why does the filibuster still need to exist. I mean, there is no filibuster in the House mainly because having it would hold back most legislation voted on there, yet it's still seen as necessary in the Senate when politicians need excuses for doing nothing.

Without the filibuster legislation has no finality. We've seen the Dems control all 3 branches in 2008, the GOP all 3 branches in 2016 and the Dems again in 2020. No filibuster means legislation would be undone and overhauled every time this happens.

God knows that we most probably really do Need a Third Party,such as the Libertarian Party.I had voted for a Third Party Candidate back in the 2020 Presidential Election.The 3rd Party Candidate was Dr.Jo Jorgensen,a Libertarian Candidate from South Carolina.Dr.jorgensen had much,much Better Ideas than both Biden,and Trump.Her truly Better Ideas were:1.Abolish the Federal Income Tax,so that we get to keep more of the Money which we earn.2.Move the USSA from an Oil-based Economy to an Economy based on Nuclear Energy.This would really Help to Clean up our Environment by promoting cleaner air,and water.3Setting up internal Police Review Boards which would investigate casses of alleged Police Misconduct.This would really Help to get rid of truly abusive,and corrupt law officers.4.End America's involvement in very Costly,and also very Unnecessary Foreign Wars.this would save both Billions of Dolllars,and more importantly save thousands of American lives as well.Unfortunately,Dr.Jorgensen didn't receive enough Votes to be made our next American President.REally to obad,because she had much,much better ideas than either one of the two old men from the two main Political Parties,the Republicans & the Democrats.And don;t bring up that Crap about "Throwing away your Vote"when you Vote for a Third Party Candidate either.God knows that you only really throw away your Vote when you Vote for a Candidate who doesn,t really,truly try to keep his Campaign Promises.So maybe we really ,Truly do Need a Third Party which wil have really Better Ideas for us Working Americans,friends.Perhaps Dr.Jo Jorgensen will Run again in 2024,Godwilling.If she does,then you know that I;ll Vote for the dear lady with her truly Good Ideas.

I so agree. I am so disappointed in both the president and vice president. I knew when Biden said "I will be a president for the people" we (democrats) were doomed. It's a catch phrase for I don't have to do anything now. I feel he's just happy he made it to the presidency and that his lifelong wish was realized. Am I the only one who saw once he got into office he got really, really, I mean really...old? In the beginning he passed a few items, the bare minimum, just to say 'see what I did.' Now when it comes down to the real stuff, the nitty-gritty, like women's rights, voting, the crimes of the supreme court, you know the stuff for the people, we suddenly see him peter out.

None of them actually care about these important issues. It's all a game to them. These issues are nothing but talking points for them to use to get re-elected so they can keep playing the game. They don't solve these problems because than they would upset their donors and lose something to campaign on. It's all about staying in the game and playing it as long as you can. That's why all the most powerful people in our government are feeble old people suffering from bouts of dementia. I mean no disrespect to the elderly, but these people are in incredibly important positions of power that affect the lives of ALL Americans. Let the next generation take charge, let new ideas and views expand. But no, they selfishly hold onto all that power... As long as they are in the game, they are making money. If progressives can't have that, then we should leave this embarrassing country to the right wing and let them kill each other off one by one... We can go to another country that seems more logical in how they treat their voters. That's also an option. Either way, we are not taking this sh** anymore. I'm a democrat who has with the exception of a few protest votes in the 70's and 80's always voted democrat because the republican alternatives seem so much worse.Time after time they caved and sold us out.In last two election cycles I supported and voted for Bernie Sanders.Because of age.I'm limited in what I can do . but I will only support and vote for progressives in the future.You all seem to the only ones Loudly and truthfully calling out the democratic establishment.....THANK YOU!

What more can Biden do? He has put forth the most liberal policies the country has seen since FDR. He got a huge Covid bill through, got a half decent infrastructure plan through. He negotiated a close to two trillion dollar bill, that then a progessive sweetheart and a ultra conservative dem voted down. He has no power to break the filibuster. Only voting in more democrats is the answer. We got two progressives in the pipeline, Fetterman and Barnes who have legit shots to win. But instead on focusing on something that can actually help, we got morons whining about things NO PRESIDENT COULD FIX, even f'ing Bernie Sanders. We need MORE DEMS, this is not rocket science.
