Just want to say thank you very much! Had an extremely similar situation. Ended up jacking car up high enough to get spud bar underneath that had a bend in the tip like a pry bar. After drilling the holes like you said and tapping the end of the spud bar with a sledge, it popped off pretty quickly. Had 2 others with me. Amazing how much it was stuck before drilling and using the PB blaster.
Just fought a 2011 Santa Fe with same issue for 2 hours. 3 pound hammer and an old king pin as a punch. What worked was getting air hammer out and rotating axle around then some beans. Vibration broke up rust eventually. I did have strap to fence for some tension. I will keep the drill idea in pocket for the next time!
