Hi Todd, the way we read this is that even if there is no forward or backward reference, Dr. Thompson still thought that particular verse was important enough to mention. Maybe it doesn't perfectly fit into his idea of the particular chain or topic, but is still worth looking up and is similar enough to be included. We hope that makes sense. Blessings.

Our company stance is to not recommend one study bible over another as it does come down to personal preference. But since you have asked my personal preference as the commenter for The KJV Store, my answer is that I really do like both the Scofield and Thompson. I probably personally use the Scofield more than the Thompson even though I do have and use both and greatly enjoy both. Partly because my father preached out of the KJV Old Scofield for over 40 years and it is what I am used to, and also because it's layout is simpler to me than the Thompson. It has both cross references and commentary on the same page and right when you need it or want to read it. Even though I do not agree with every opinion of the Scofield commentary (or any commentary), I find this organization useful. Whereas the Thompson Chain cross reference system us unbelievable, I find it a little less convenient to have to go to the back of the bible for the Subject Index, Articles, and Thompson commentary. Hello, The difference would be in the leather and binding. The Lambskin leather is very soft and is imitation leather lined which makes it much more flexible than the other editions of the Thompson Chain. When you have a flexible binding, it will last a very long time. Blessings, The KJV Store

Nave's Topical Bible can't really compare to the KJV Thompson Chain. If you wanted "only" the Subject Index to refer to, the Nave can be useful. But if you want "everything" right in your 1 King James Bible and right at your finger tips, you can't beat the Thompson. There is a reason over 4 Million of the KJV Thompson have been sold. The regular size edition used in the video is printed in the U.S.A. The older Large Print edition used in the video is printed in Korea. We believe that all current editions are exclusively printed in the U.S.A. We do not know if these were ever printed in Great Britain, but it is doubtful as Kirkbride has always been a U.S. Company. Per the video, the Thompson does not contain commentary at all in the KJV Bible / Scripture portion. It only contains "Cross-References" and "Pilot Numbers" that help you find other verses related to the verse or text you are reading. Even the "Complete System of Biblical Studies" in the back of the bible is only made up of these 8 Features: Text Cyclopedia or Index of Chain Topics, Selected Bible Readings, Outline Studies, Bible Character Studies, Bible Harmonies & Illustrated Studies, Archaeological Supplement, Concordance, and Bible Atlas. None of which really contain "Commentary" (Opinion), which is why the Thompson Chain is many peoples favorite "influence free" KJV Study Bible. As such, we don't believe it's possible that any such doctrine as calvanism or alrmanism is present in the Thompson.

jesus warrior: Let me step in here to help. No, the Bible doesn't go into particular theologies, as such. You can probably get a good rundown on Arminian theology and Calvinism in Wikipedia. But continue on in your own Bible to see what it says first. You can look up Predestination #2861, Grace #1447, and other related things while you wait to connect with believers in each of those Theologies. What I have done, after years of struggling with such things, is to take each Bible passage in context. And I Trust God #s 1214 to 1218 to fulfil the scriptures in the way He intended. He knows best how to save me, guide my walk, and to bring about both my end, and the World's end. There is value to John Calvin's writing, and the same for James Arminius' writing. They both want you to have a wonderful earthly life in Christ, and to meet you in Heaven. I have changed to a conservative Anabaptist church. They use the KJV Thompson and don't get involved in Arminius versus Calvin. If you get saved and go to one church for baptism, and they dunk you three times frontward, or to another church and they dunk you once backward, does it matter? The point is, you are following the Lord in baptism. You have obeyed. What more do you need than that? And many things in scripture give you that freedom. Like being a vegetarian or a meat eater. Scripture mentions both and they are both OK with God. So enjoy your Bible. Learn how to use it and grow in the Lord. You should find joy and peace when you don't complicate things.

My brother and I both have 4th Edition Thompsons. We live several states apart. But we study our KJV Thompsons together, using text messages. I'm sorry this hasn't made any Bible sales for you but it has helped our walk, each of us. And now I have found this video and am sending it to him.
