I review the new KK's Priest album "The Sinner Rides Again" My review of the first KK's Priest album "Sermons of the Sinner" • KK's Priest - "Sermons...
I really like this album. The strong solos from the twin-axe attack are great, especially the long solo on the song sinner rides again. I was blown away at one more shot at glory. There’s some great guitar sound on hymn 66. I kind of feel that this is just KK’s sound. Yeah it may sound like Priest, but KK made up a lot of the Judas Priest sound-just my 2 cents. 🔥🤘
1. I listened to this on Spotify, and it opens with Sons of the Sentinel. 2. Surprise double bass sections push this album along when you feel the song has given you all it has to offer. It is much improved from Sermons of the Sinner. It is more cohesive with better lyrics :)
I like the Sinner Rides Again song and total LP. It's a ridiculous Upyours to Glenn & his Manager/wife. Praying for USA tour. Ripper reminds me of the Live in London days...wow. total team including AJ Mills is just Fun and crushing it. I kinda agree, perhaps over compressed, I image stretching. Still love it.
Yeah I mostly agree with you on this. Musically its all tight. Great production, killer vocals and instruments. But lyrically, for me, it feels less than original because it borrows so heavily off of old Priest material. Also, the lyrics, for me, tend to be a bit hyperbolic. Could use some subtlety. Otherwise a killer album, even better than the debut.
“borrows so heavily off of old Priest material.”?! Of cause… KK litarally had a heavy han writing all those songs! KK’ Priest Sound like old JP because KK is old JP! And that is all fine with me! Most important is…. This album is a killer one and will be in the years to come for me!!!
Only listened once and although i thought it was good i found it very same sounding most of the time, great solos though. I was more impressed with the debut on first listen, hell fire thunderbolt is a great song and so are most on the debut. I Will definitely listen more.
Ripper is a very goog singer but you are right, he often overpowers with his intensity. That is why I prefer Ralf Sheepers. Same style but Sheepers has more control over his voice. Ripper was worldclass on Iced Earth The glorious burden.
I think personally, Ripper brings out his full potential with KK, as he did with Priest. Vocally it feels totally rooted in Downing's guitars and style, with high and low vocal range.
Boy do I dissagree with you on that the first three songs! The opener alone… if that is not a killer chorus, then get me a doctor!!! And song two, Strike Of The Viper?! This album is killer from start to end!!! And yeah… it sounds like Priest of cause! Where do you think all those classic Judas riffs came from?! KK Downing!!
I don't understand criticism that it sounds like priest. Kk is priest and his band is called kks priest. I would be highly disappointed if it didn't sound like priest.
Yeah it is ridicolous! KK wrote all the JP materiale for 40 years… (with Glenn and Rob) If this new stuff didn’t sound like that, I would be pissed of!
Totally agree John i wished it had a slower song to break up. My only other gripe is the similar song titles to Judas Priest. Yes explore their own sound. In Priest i think Ritchie and Andy can bring some awesome things to the table 🤘🤘🤘💯💯💯💯
And I totally dissagree. Of cause it sounds like Judas Priest! And this is their own sound!!! Where do you think all those classic song and riffs came from?! And as good guitarist both Ritchie and Andy is.... no way is those guys the sound of Judas Priest. No way! Those two guy who are the sound though, is one retired and the other one has as a 71 year old man just released a killer heavy metal record!! How can that be a bad thing that the guy who wrote those old classic makes reference to his legendary past?!
@@747jono And I have too. Seen them 3 times lately. They are good, but it is just not Judas Priest anymore. More like a Rob Halford solo band! Without Downing and Tipton in no way does it sound or look like Judas Priest!
@@747jono -You agreed that it needed slover songs. I dissagree! (There are two slow songs on the albums 9 songs) - You say that they need to "explore their own sound." I say that: This is they own sound! (The sound of KK Downing as he always have sounded) - Your other gripe is "The similar song titles to Judas Priest. " I say that I think it is great for KK to pay homage to his fantastic past as one of the godfarthers of heavy metal as we all know it! So yes...I am dissagreeing with you, and the author.... ok!!!!!
I thought he retired from music after leaving Judas Priest. Must have realised it was a bad idea and started his own band. Will listen to both albums at some point. Owens singing was not too good I thought on the Judas albums. Hope he is better now.
I think you will like this. For me it is the best “Priest “album since 1990! I think it is a greatcgreat album, and KK is throwing one great riff after the other out!!?
