DiCaprisun for their first time, I agree they played rather well if I do say so myself. Imagine what they would sound like if they had practiced though, I imagine it to be beautiful
Nastigyal well yeah they would have because they probably had all the music to her album but just hadn't done it live .... don't have to be such a hater
Her voice is distinct, Her voice reminds me of the 1940’s a vintage but beautiful voice. Great performance from lana and the band for performing it for the first time.
One thing I love most about listening to Lana live is that as time goes on, with each and every concert, she sounds better and better. She could easily be a cop out and use auto tune, but she doesn't. She progresses, her voice gets stronger. That is something to admire, not berate. I don't think she has ever sounded bad, you can just tell with a lot of her older performances that she's is so nervous, but she's gets less and less nervous. It's awesome to see that she's so human, which I guess makes her and her music even more appealing.
+Loveday Willsher Also at Glastonbury there was no auto tuning. You can definitely hear in her voice. It was very flat and often not in tune. You can check videos from that festival and you will hear this! But she is a human being! And she never does lip syncing. In many tracks there is a backing track with background vocals as an addition to get the multi-layering. And I recognized that sometimes the background vocals are a little bit too loud in relation to Lanas Live-Voice in some videos. So you could think that she does not sing live. But then in the next moment you will hear that Lana's voice "breaks out" and she gets louder. So she sings live.
Paul McCartney I’m confused as to how it’s the first time singing it live yet the whole band is able to just have all the sheet music and know how to play it lol
Indeed. I know many drummers who are only thinking in a "technical" way and would say something like "erk, I wouldn't want to gig with Lana del Rey or someone like that", thinking it would be boring to play. I especially like the way how the drummer here gets "involved" in playing through the song, he looks and plays as if this actually meant something to him. You're right, this truly gives a new dimension to this already awesome track.
WOW. A random person requests a song and she just casually gives a performance of that song. Now that's a PERFORMER. The majority of musicians now only stick to set list and very few interact with the audience the way she does.
Angelina Jordan did a cover of this and Born to Die.........when she was 13 and 12 years old. BOTH are better than the originals. I wouldnt be surprised if Lana writes songs for Angelina in the future. That is Lanas true strength.
I just love how spontaneous she is. She's such a cutie, and she just does what she loves to do, laughing when she doesn't remember the words and having fun. Love her!
Some of you may not know but she is getting better but she suffers from severe performance anxiety. She is really scared up there. She does wonderful considering. When she gets into the song, she finally lets go and all is wonderful.
One of the thousands things that I love about her is that during her performances she just stand here, without doing anything (or at least most of the times). I just love that. It's just Lana and her voice.
The first and arguably one of the best ever performances of this song by Lana. Everything is so on point, especially for something they didn’t even have on the set list.
It was a privilege to hear this recording of her very first live performance of my favorite song by her. It may not sound exactly like the recording, but it is raw, unique, and incredible. She was nervous, and she did a hell of a job!! (:
She has a retro look that is amazing. Her beauty is a natural one most performers have lost in outfits and makeup. Original sound and style. Love her stuff. Big fan.
1:15 the line was summer nights mid July when you and I were forever *wild* she sang the next verse instead, which was play with *me* like a child and realized her mistake so she sat down. honest that part might be one of her lines, because she sings that part really well, and she might be really nervous since its her live performance. but she picks it back up really well, skipping that whole line so the band can get back on track. I was trying to sing this song for a few days so I remember that part really well, her and angelina jordan are really good at that exact line, so hearing her screw it up and then fix it was quite enlightening. Its a professional singer picking up and correcting a mistake in front of alot of people. I wouldnt know what to do next, she takes it like a champ.
This is absolutely astonishing. Never done it live, didn't plan or prepare for it, then on a dime pulls it out. Handles her lyric mixup perfectly. Vocals are absolutely phenomenal, sound exactly like the recorded track. I remember during this era, the one criticism lots of people had was that she "isn't good live," and that her recorded vocals were "just edited." But videos like this firmly disprove that fake talking point. I saw her live in 2018 and she was easily the best singer I have ever seen live
she did fine, some songs are hard to replicate outside of the recording studio. some singers can do it great others cant, but attempting to do it live should always be rewarded with applause. people who criticize are not people who are on stage performing and entertaining. they are hiding behind their keyboards. so please spare us the mean comments.
Lyrics here🙌🏻🙌🏻 [Verse 1] I've seen the world Done it all Had my cake now Diamonds, brilliant And Bel Air now Hot summer nights, mid July When you and I were forever wild The crazy days, city lights The way you'd play with me like a child [Chorus] Will you still love me When I'm no longer young and beautiful? Will you still love me When I got nothing but my aching soul? I know you will, I know you will I know that you will Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful? [Verse 2] I've seen the world, lit it up As my stage now Channeling angels in the new age now Hot summer days, rock 'n' roll The way you play for me at your show And all the ways I got to know Your pretty face and electric soul [Chorus] Will you still love me When I'm no longer young and beautiful? Will you still love me When I got nothing but my aching soul? I know you will, I know you will I know that you will Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful? [Bridge] Dear lord, when I get to heaven Please let me bring my man When he comes tell me that you'll let him in Father tell me if you can Oh that grace, oh that body Oh that face makes me wanna party He's my sun, he makes me shine like diamonds [Chorus] Will you still love me When I'm no longer young and beautiful? Will you still love me When I got nothing but my aching soul? I know you will, I know you will I know that you will Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful? Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful? Will you still love me when I'm not young and beautiful?
first time singing it live? i really would have never guessed! to everyone saying it was bad, i am a singer and i sing at little things like banquets. singing live is extremely difficult i think that lana del rey does an amazing job at preforming this song! i'm so proud to be a fan of hers and i think she is unrealistically talented!
When she sang the wrong lyrics and put her hands up in the air, is freaking adorable!!! She sang this so beautiful, just like the recording!!! And this video quality is amazing!! Thank you so much
I love the way she sings live. In fact I prefer the live versions of a few of her songs rather than the studio versions.. Like body electric-she sounds amazing live on that one.
Damn I’ve never really been a fan but her voice is so unique, even after the error when she holds her hands up and laughs she can just go straight back in to a voice that sounds like it can’t be real, reminds me of Karen Carpenter
Dear lord when I get to heaven Please let me bring my man When he comes tell me that you'll let me Father tell me if you can Oh that grace, oh that body Oh that face makes me wanna party He's my sun, he makes shine like diamonds
Lana del rey reminds me of those singers in the middle ages and shell be as memorable as they were when they sang in the bars and street. What beautiful Voice.
She is powerful yet vulnerable. She is powerful yet I feel the need to protect her. She is powerful yet dripping in melancholy. She is all of this without trying, without posing. It's just extra special.
This is amazing , Lana you are an awesome ,amazing, epic, legit artist .You are one of the reasons why I sing . You are really AMAZING !! never stop . Your voice sounds just like when your recorded even though we know you are singing live. That makes a great artist!!
That slip up is very reminiscent of how Elvis use to perform. He’d laugh it off and carry on. I think that’s what made Elvis so likeable- he was never pretentious. Lana is the same.
