Hello everyone, enjoy watching two very closely built competitors take on some of the local trails in the Cowichan Valley. These video clips have been captured during the west coast fall season where we get a lot of rain. This trail is typically very easy and fun to navigate, but two optional obstacles caught us out now that everything is slick and wet. All in all, it was a fun day with some friendly competition. Both vehicles performed well, but it’s fair to say that the Jeep certainly could have aired down lower to best use those Wildpeaks! I also noticed that my rear left wheel seems to have a lazy brake calliper which noticeably affects the performance of the traction control system. I hope you enjoy watching, drop a comment below! #4x4 #landrover #landroverdiscovery #offroad #offroading

I really enjoyed your video and I subscribed right after watching. I would have scribed for all the effort you put into it alone, never mind the excellent footage itself. I bought my 2001disco new. She has been a commitment. Anyone who's owned one for some time knows what I'm talking about. Yours is a beast compared to my everyday ride to my job sights. Thanks again for such excellent content. Oh Ya! Did I see you use "regular" fuel?

Fantstic stuff man, can i ask if you ve made any exhuast upgrades to make it sound so nice? also, do you have the ACE system in your disco?
@VanIsleDisco
@VanIsleDisco 8 месяцев назад
Thank you! The previous owner had removed the centre resonator and fitted a magnaflow exhaust, then removed the tailpipe and small muffler at the rear. I may end up installing the factory rear muffler again, but until then it does sound pretty good! This disco is very basic compared to my last one. No air suspension, no ACE. I do miss having ACE, as that is a really great system

Awsm! nice yea seems that magneflow is a pretty popular route for exhuast mods. I have the ACE right now and either its pump or the power steering pumps is whining which takes away from the nice sound of the 4.0, hopefully will have it sorted someday soon. Awsm man, thank you for replying. Looking forward to more vids from you! @@VanIsleDisco

How do you keep your coolant temps at 82 c? Mine always hovers around 92-94 in my Disco 2. Did you do something to the thermostat??

Is that year Jeep full-time four-wheel drive and if so do the full-time have a locking transfer case to make it regular four-wheel drive kind of like the CDL on the Disco? I saw one for sale at an auction once saying full-time four-wheel drive and when I got inside I just saw high or low but I didn't see a way to lock it unless putting it into low electronically locks the transfer case and there is just no locked High like the Disco having locked and unlocked for high and low. Also does that jeep have traction control? I swear I saw a moment where it literally looks like it's fun and then grabbed unless it just happened to catch traction
@VanIsleDisco
@VanIsleDisco 5 месяцев назад
Hello Ronald, thanks for watching. The Jeep has what is called “quadra drive II” which is a full time 4 wheel drive system featuring 3 viscous differentials. The front and rear differentials are a viscous limited slip, and the transfer case is operated with a viscous coupling in 4 high. I believe in 4 low it locks the centre coupling. It does not have traction control. It is a very capable and comparable system
@rockymountboy

@@VanIsleDisco QuadraDrive. QuadraDrive is entirely mechanical. Well, unless you count the hydraulic fluid. Yes, 4Lo locks the transfer case. QuadraDrive II is electronic, and was available in the following generations WK, WK2, and now WL.

Hey there! Thanks for watching the video. All the vehicle specs are in the video description, but yes you are right. It’s a 2” lift and 32” tires. 255/70/R18

@@VanIsleDisco dumb I didn’t look oops haha. Thank you! That’s great ok I love the look of the 255/70/18’s. I’m on 265/65/18 and am wanting the swap, I like the height and more narrow look.
@VanIsleDisco
@VanIsleDisco 8 месяцев назад
@@nicholaspaesler8823 it’s all good! This tire size is easy to find in my area. It’s the stock size for Jeep Wrangler Saharas, so many good sets of wheels are available.

@@VanIsleDiscook I’ve tried to look for the same!! I thought I could find a used set but all I can track down is the Bridgestone Dueler factory sets that aren’t aggressive enough haha. I might bite the bullet on General Grabbers they seem to be a good value for the $

@@nicholaspaesler8823 I bought mine used, but in new condition. A set of 5 mounted on Jeep wheels. I had them swapped over to my hurricanes, and they’ve been great. My next set will be Firestone Destination MT2

Did you run the D2 in Low range and CDL?
@VanIsleDisco
@VanIsleDisco Месяц назад
Hello Tony, all off road obstacles had been performed in low range. The centre diff lock is used on and off depending on the obstacle.
@grahameroberts8109

Was diflock used on the wet hills?
@VanIsleDisco
@VanIsleDisco 8 месяцев назад
Yes, I locked the centre diff, as well as used manual mode 2nd and 3rd gear to get up. It is very steep. In the dry conditions, the front left wheel lifts often and hovers during the ascent.

@@VanIsleDisco The video clearly shows how slippery that becomes in the wet. The only thing I can think of would be to use even lower tyre pressures. 25 PSI on the rear is quite high for that kind of off road use. Nice video though. I love the GC and especially the Disco! - I have a 2004 TD5 myself.😎
@ronaldrrootiii6040
@ronaldrrootiii6040 5 месяцев назад
@@clivereidyes I agree my disco has 33 inch mud terrain tires that are pretty aggressive and I bring them down to 20 lb or less also my front and rear sway bars are completely deleted so stuff like that it will crawl up pretty good almost to the point where I go slower and slower and slower kind of to the amusement of any Spectators who get excited because that's kind of a thing is going really slow with the RC cars so I do it and they love it cuz they expect you to go up something challenging fast as possible
@rockymountboy
@rockymountboy 4 месяца назад
@@clivereid 25 is WAY too high. 15-18 would have been better.
