Hello , very nice explanation ,thank you from Montreal. I hope in that in this case , my past experience may help somebody , seem to me is another leak coming from the cowl, on top of the water coming from the drain and the hole in the pillar. I got it all. .In my case , the water leak is the warp cowl that leave a space for the weather to get in the intake air of the AC. Solution. It easy to check the filter intake of the AC to see if it s wet. Pour some water on the windshield and look insipide without the filter , you will see water coming in.. My solution, Take of the warp cowl , put a piece of plastic or aluminium to cover the front part of AC intake entrance , put back another cowl and seal the top with silicone .if the véhicule sit on the sun , the cowl will warp again, but at least the top part will stick to the windshield. Hope it help ! Good luck I own a 2006 LR3 v6 since 2018

Thank you for watching and commenting, and thank you for the solution on the leak with AC. I will have a look at mine in the near future and maybe use your comment here to show the solution. Thank you again, drive safely, best regards Rene

@charles1951ful. I have an 06 and had the same water issues. I read forums and made my own cover to shield water from entering the AC intake. I also did the pillar sealing also. I’m so happy I bumped into this video because I’ll be dealing up the TCM unit.

My '06 is now running great. I've shot the parts cannon at the arms, half-shafts, rear drive shaft, a used rear differential, all new brakes rotors, etc.etc. Did have some stubborn electrical faults, my alternator (original ,134K mi.) was putting out average of 13.9 amps, which everyone kept telling me was fine. But I installed a new aftermarket alternator and the faults went away! Now I'm getting 14.2 amps or so). So these systems really are as sensitive as others claim. There is one other issue; On every start up, I get a transmission fault that goes away immediately. My Gap tool shows an ignition solenoid fault. One way to know this is real is by being able to remove the key while still in drive. Was talking to my son about it and he read me a notice from LR about this and a recall...Wonder if they will still honor that recall. It's worth a phone call to find out. But must admit to some concern about letting a dealer open her up. There are a lot of monkeys out there calling themselves mechanics and I've had some bad experiences with dealers before. Also, took a chance on one of those plastic/vinyl dash covers. Bought it from some place in Texas for around $100. It fits and looks great. My dash was as bad as yours. Just follow the directions for prep and gluing...The provided silicone really did work! Looks like your clear coat has failed like mine as well on the hood and roof. Got the materials to redo it but ran out of good weather. All in all, I'm into this rig for about $4k in parts and $3k in the purchase last May. If I can get another 50 k miles without anything major it will have been a win. These 4.4L engines are a perfect match for this system in my opinion. We just got a foot of snow up here in MA. and after a long drive I noticed the LR does best in the standard paved road setting. The icy road setting seems to almost have too much traction, at least it seems this way for me. Anyway, still learning how to properly drive her. Take care Rene' hope you had good holidays.

Thank you soo much for sharing your experiences, I am happy to help where I can. I will try this vinyl dash cover and see if I can improve the dash. Happy holidays, drive safely up there and best regards Rene

Thank you Rene, I've just purchased an '06 LR3. And it seems like water is going to be a life long issue. All my sunroof drain line ends,( not the tube itself just the softer end that has the integral grommet) have disintegrated. Amazingly bad choice in materials. the result was soaked carpet and submerged wiring in the lower floor wiring chases. When I get time I'll be removing that fuse panel in passenger side so as to access the last drain connector behind it. I see the connector in the hole from outside but if 3 have failed I'm sure the fourth is not long for this world. There's also a bulletin from LR about the exterior "A"pillar and guide pin holes which must be sealed and the pins on the covers broken off flush. I've decided to seal each snap base as well since the thin rubber gaskets on them don't look like they hold up well over time. This vehicle shouldn't be power washed or taken through a car wash since that is essentially a power wash. Not worth the risk... I've also heard that the AC condensate drain lines can get clogged and back up into the cabin.I've pulled the 4 seats and soaked carpeting cause its the only way to really dry the foam insulation under neath and check for damage and rust. It's a lot of effort to fix a problem that good engineering should have dealt with during the build. Oh well, those English! BTW I have a much better remedy for the drain line connectors involving copper street 90's, pex tubing and gasket maker. Don't want to revisit these issues again. I'll explain to anyone who's interested. Man! your dash looks as bad as mine. I've got one on order from a junk yard. And my clear coat has failed on the hood and roof, same color as yours. I'll be rebuilding the 3 air solenoid valves as well. I'm somewhat concerned that a bad bulb can mess up so many other issues because I found a bunch of bulbs in the rear storage ...What air shocks did you get? Knock offs or those Arnots? Big difference in $..... Anyway, There's something about these cars ... And maybe it says as much about those who are getting involved with them as it does about any design flaws... onward!

Thank you for commenting and watching, yes there is definitely something about these cars 😃 I got my shocks from Amazon they have run 75k miles now and still going strong - not difficult to change, just hard work. I don’t have a video for that since it was changed before I started filming. 😃. It sounds like a good workout you have had with your Landy, and yes the water penetration is very annoying. But it great to drive and goes everywhere 👍😀 Keep us informed on your progress. Drive safely best regards Rene

@lukula2934. I was on the same boat. I ended up removing my passenger and the rear seats and propped the carpet up. Ran a heater and fan to get it all dry. I love the truck so I keep giving her love. I do want to change all of the air suspension components and arms.

Thanks Rene! Yes Change the cowl panel that could be the culprit dripping in. I had that problem last summer and it was a corroded TCM & PCM, set me back a few thousand dollars. Glad to see this is easy to get to. Next dry day I’m in there. Oh! Stay away from the automatic car washes! That are pressure washing your whole truck! Currently I have a list of Amigos. I just changed indicator bulb and the bottom most light bulb in the rear and I can’t get that to work. Bought 2 types of bulbs, neither work so I wondering if I need to clean connectors for corrosion. So I am not at normal height and it is annoying . Also changed brake switch. That was first. Nothing changed. Then I did lights. Also a marker light needs changed. Will report back after that. I need to check my TCM again. I had to since replace the cowl again! Twice in two years! Your tips are all helpful. Today I will use my multimeter and check bulbs.

👍sounds really good - make sure you get the right bulbs, and rating it is vital since the car senses the amperage and will give you weird light and results. Brake lights are extremely essential here, it can cause all lights in the back to flash, and also the car to remain in 3rd speed with no shifting etc etc - the list is long. I hope you will get it all sorted, and hope you can use the tips and tricks. Drive safely, and let us know how it all went, I am sorry for the late answer but was so busy the recent weeks. Best regards Rene

when i plug in the tool, it does say fault, the stearing angle sensor...? could this be the cause? i damn love this lr3, but this christmas tree special illumination is wearing me thin. haha any help will be welcomed! thanks Rene

Ok - that could be rear tail lights too - did you check your stop lights. The car will run normally until you press the stop pedal and if it senses no stop lights it will do all kinds of crazy stuff like putting hazards on and go into limp mode etc etc. please check the stop lights. Check this video from 14:43 minutes it should give you and idea of what I mean. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YjsPP70pNXg.html Hope it helps Drive safely Best regards Rene

How did you get the module out
@techtips101
@techtips101 2 месяца назад
Thanks for commenting and watching. The module is located in the back of the battery case just like shown on video. It is held right with the plug itself and then some plastic clips that needs to be released. Then you tip the TCM module outward from the top and it should come out easy. The wires might be a little in the way but just take your time and be careful not to break the wires. Hope that helps best regards Rene Drive safely.

I took mine out it had corrosion on the plug I took mine apart looked ok I used electronics cleaner on plug and TCM now it has caused more problems I didn't have before unbelievable now I will order new tmc but getting it program it what's going to cost me a grand I here at dealer this lr3 is a wonderful suv but WOW so sensitive on trying to fix simple things that turn in to big problems the tcm controls so many other functions like transmission faults I just had my transmission rebuilt
@techtips101
@techtips101 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching and commenting, yes the Land Rover is a sensitive car. However the TCM module is located in a spot where it is likely to receive water intrusion over years. I would take it apart again and make sure it is correctly assembled and clean again. Then check the plugs and sockets for cleanliness and try it out again before buying anything. It could be something very simple like a bad grounding that causes your troubles. Drive safely, best regards Rene

I did take it apart look good only had corrosion at both ends I clean it with electronic cleaner now i have codes and faults I didn't have before this is crazy people say replacement of tcm will clear these fault
@techtips101
@techtips101 10 месяцев назад
@@jamesray3920well of course it can be faulty, but most of the time it should clear up. Have you tried to make a hard reset of the computer by taking off the battery leads, hold them off for 15 secs, then let them touch each other and remount them again - that will give you two days of driving where everything should stabilize and you might get rid of some of the codes. Hope that helps. Drive safely, best regards Rene
