Join me in this landscape photography vlog as I take my Sony A7III to Girraween National Park for some epic landscape photography, photographing rivers, mountains, woodlands, flowers... it really is Landscape Photography Heaven.
I could've spent MANY more hours here but was short on time and conditions, so I will definitely be going BACK for longer hikes up the granite hills, so Subscribe for that!

Gorgeous location! It has some of everything! I really enjoyed seeing the trees both your photo and the B-roll. Great creek location- I liked the stillness of the rock with the water flowing around. Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year! 👍🎉🎉

Good to see you back outdoors and vlogging. I love the shots of the creek, fantastic! The flower shots remind me of the types of images I'd normally take. The crocs bit made me laugh, well done for leaving it in.

A beautiful location and some stunning shots. I am a sucker for water shots so my favourite was the three rocks. I love the positioning of the rocks and the leading lines. Together with the dynamic movement of the water with its colours and textures I think this is a powerful image. Well captured.

Ooo love that last shot at the end - that's an awesome tree! Also really like the 2nd and 3rd water shots - great movement! Giraween is definitely on my to do list...it looks awesome...I didn't know there were crocs there though, racked or otherwise 🤣 Nice! Great video Rauri, I hope you've been well!

Great to see you back out and about. It is winter here in the UK, and the last of the autumn colour has just about gone. On the bright side, sunrise is now at a much more civilised time in the morning. The images of the wild flowers were my favourites from this out. So delicate, but also interesting shapes and colour. Stay safe out there buddy :)

Great video Rauri, nice to see you back out in the field. What a fantastic location that place is. Some really good photos in this one, especially along the river. Seemed like a ton of great compositions to be had there, and great job on getting down in the middle of the river. Most people wouldn't attempt that. )Safety first of course) The shot of the day for me was the three rocks at 9:30, fantastic waterflow and color in the river in that one. Great stuff, really enjoyed it mate!

My favorite was what you did with the three rocks at 9:15, bringing out the colors and textures. When you first walked up to those rocks they just looked a funny face to me - two big eyes and a nose! Quite a transformation in your capable hands.

Awesome vlog mate, nice to see you back where you belong ( …and that’s not the studio😂😂 ) Those boulders and gnarly trees are awesome, you got some ripper shots! I think the image you captured at 4:45 is awesome, I like the composition, it’s well balanced, not sure why you didn’t like it as much as the broll😀. Croc in the rack WTAF🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🐊🐊🐊🐊

The second flower photo was the winner for me, went back and paused to take it in properly, and really enjoyed it. Pretty good for 1/100 with the way the wind was blowing things around! The composition and shallow DOF really work well in the image. I also quite like the one you put up at the very end, although I had to go back and pause, as the screen elements came up quite quickly so I couldn't really take it in the first time. Nice video as always (and was that your dad in the background?).

It's a great location mate. I like the speckled look of the foreground in the first one at 2:04. Fantastic light at 2:48, it really brings out the detail. Also really liked the close up of the flowers at 11:15. Glad you avoided getting crocs in your rack! 😄

Fantastic Vlog Rauri. I really loved this one. The photos just kept getting better and better the longer I watched. My favourite photo was the very last shot. One photo I would have loved to have seen would be a sunset photo of the rock formation at 6:06. The fascinating rock formation combined with some golden hour colours would be beautiful.

Yeah we stayed until after sunset but got no colour, sadly the night before had good colour but we left to avoid hail 😂 I’m definitely going back here, it’s a great spot, and supposedly very different in winter

Yeah that is my dad, the guy that got me in to landscape photography many years ago 😊 generally when I use my Fuji I use spot AF and turn off Face as that’s not reliable and I avoided the pulsing to date, but I think I left eye AF on and it just did a bad job. So tricky unlike Sony.

Great vlog mate. That water was certainly flowing through those streams. They’re normally just a trickle. Did you film after all the rain we had? Girraween is always good value. Some nice images Rauri, the LE stream shots were my favs. Thanks for sharing the trip out 👍🙏

Yeah, it’s good if you’re getting started. But the battery life isn’t wonderful. If you can afford it try to get the A7iii or iv if you do more video.

Lovely video. I like the shot of the trees at 4:25. Can I ask why you chose a shutter speed of 1/1000 sec.? Because a hand-held shot? If you were using a tripod under same conditions, what shutter speed would you have used? Thank you!

Thanks for watching mate! Yeah I used that shutter speed as it was very bright, and generally with my woodland type of shots, trees, I prefer a shallower DoF to focus on the subject and reduce the “busy” background, so I wanted to shoot at f4, which meant it was taking a lot of light in, I used a faster shutter speed to get the correct exposure, which at ISO 100 was 1/1000, good as it meant the shot was pretty sharp (and I didn’t want any moving leaves or branches in that shot, so a long exposure wouldn’t be needed) - hope that helps explain my thought process 😊
