A CHALLENGING Hike For Mountain CREEK Landscape Photography | Sony A7iii Landscape Photography Vlog
In today's landscape photography vlog I visit Mount Barney National Park, quite a scarred landscape affected by bush fires, heavy rains and flowing water that has caused a lot of debris and erosion of the trail, yet it is such a stunning landscape with great diversity!
After around an hours hike, up and down, we reach the lower portals, and end up photographing an Oasis (that's how it felt!), this lush area with flowing water and huge boulders.
Main lens used was the sony 16-35mm f2.8.

What a cracking location Rauri! Must look absolutely belting in the autumn. Shooting water is hard. It is so tempting to just capture everything silky and smooth, but in several of your images there is a hint of motion and movement which really helps. Hope you are staying safe sir
@RauriBarron
@RauriBarron 2 года назад
Thanks Huw! Don’t really get autumn here sadly like you guys do, but definitely a spot I’ll return to in the hope for some colour change! Yeah as I mentioned I prefer to get texture, I don’t prefer flowing water shots with an exposure of >1s, but interestingly I actually like the 1.6s shot as it’s smooth compared to the quite “sharp” environment. But with the dynamic range and light I couldn’t get that shutter speed each shot, thankfully I did one, 0.5s when the sun went behind cloud, that had some nice texture in it. Thanks for watching. Apologies if the audio was hard to hear, the river was really flowing! 😃

Lovely opening image Rauri. Also the portrait image at 4:10 worked well. Very vibrant looking place at the lower levels - the elevation between the dry & the lush vegitation is not really massive so that is quite a varied habitat in such a small area (in height) I'm a stop and have a banana type too..lol. Nice hike but that last location looked a bit precarious - glad you managed to get the shot unscathed, good effort. Great selection of images. atb Al
@RauriBarron

Thanks a lot Al! It was a tiring hike due to the elevation, I need to get fitter Thats for sure. Always nice when the end point is as good as expected, I saw a composition that would’ve looked awesome with afternoon light, just wasn’t the right angle for where the sun was in the morning. Worth going back and spending a day, evening having a proper dip if I get the time 😂

Great Opener! :D Cool Vlog again, love that you keep us with you out in the field! The Shot at 4:10 is the most interesting for me i think. The waves are leading you kind of out of the picture but the rest of this composition is so strong, that you still go back and you continue going further into the photo. Also how you adjusted the brightness to lead the eye helps really a lot. My Favourite shot it think is at 3:26 I love the four rocks. Four elements are just perfect for me. It gives me the feeling of balance. Thanks for sharing Rauri, keep recording these outdoor vlogs!!

Great location and great video Rauri 👍 Your shot at 9:37 was a beauty - great composition and the perfect amount of texture in the water. I find if I look down when doing river crossings, I usually lose my balance - I always find it better to look out at the far bank to give myself a point of reference - good to see you didn't go the whole plunge though 😉 I'd also recommend a set of spikes - they've saved my life on so many occasions 😉 All the best and thanks for sharing 👍

Thanks mate! Lots of large rocks under the creek what ever my foot went on it would slip off 😂 are there spikes that can be used in water? It was really refreshing to take the boots off for the creek crossing, if I fell in I would have just thought F it and had a good swim 😂 thanks again Brian

Great shots Rauri and a fantastic location. I thought of the two across the creek shots the portrait version worked best. And @ 9:37 again, it's a super tight and detailed image. I couldn't help but notice the three big rocks. Nice shots and enjoyable vlog. My faves were the first one at the first spot, and both the shots at the second location. With all those walking shots, you must've spent so much time walking back and forth! As a fellow content creator, I for one appreciate all the effort you go to! For the rack focus shot around 1:10, assuming you're using the Fujifilm, you should set a slower focus change so there's a beautiful gradual smooth change from foreground in focus to background. That quick snap isn't as nice (well, in my opinion, anyway). You've done a great job on this, considering how hectic things are for you, impressive job!
