Been watching videos of other large animal vets performing the same procedures - & I must say I appreciate KeeboVet all the more. Just finished watching a video of a vet draining an abscess on a bull . . . without numbing, shaving, or disinfecting the area. The bull was confined in a squeeze chute, but when the vet cut - that poor animal screamed & thrashed as much as he could. I didn’t think the vet did enough to ensure he found all possible pockets of pus or adequately flushed the wound. Also no mention or indication of antibiotics. In other words; the most minimal care possible with no thought given to the bull’s suffering. I was NOT impressed, and certainly won’t be watching any more of that guy’s videos. This doctor is a doctor of compassion toward animals. And it shows when he helps them through the stresses of these abscesses. Animals do have feeling. So thank you doctor, I have great appreciation for what you do you are one of the best.❤❤❤❤❤❤
My heart aches for the poor cow. This hurts so bad to shave the area. I had to have an abscess shaved before surgery and I begged the nurses to stop. Sooo I know what she is feeling. Doc does a great job. Love these videos.
The up and down shaving that ended up cutting up the whole area was so bad. It’s better to use close clippers to prevent cuts and microabrasions that lead to further infection. A lot of these cows look like they are starving already, it’s no wonder they can’t fight off infection.
Not impressed with no numbing for the poor animal, how would you like to have abcess that big lanced and drained without numbing it first . This was cruel to watch and I won't be watching anymore of your videos torturing poor animals that are in pain already. Should be ashamed....
@@elliepurcell452 they don’t numb those large abscesses, because it would be just as painful to push all that fluid into the skin. Also, how can you get a large animal that won’t stand still to be still enough to put a needle just under the skin and slowly push the lignocaine or whatever the vet uses in that country. It’s less painful to make a very fast incision with a very sharp blade.
I absolutely LOVE the way you work. I’ve just bumped into your channel after a few years of witnessing large animal abscesses lanced without all the necessary pre stab steps you’ve taken to clean, disinfect, shave, and medicate these poor animals! I’m thoroughly impressed with your work; you have no idea. I’ve always thought it inhumane to jab these swollen spaces without proper care!!! Thank GOD I finally found your channel … and thank God not all large farm animals are arbitrarily jabbed and cut with any old box cutter. I’ve ALWAYS been astonished by the lack of sanitary prep & procedure. I’ve been watching your vids for the past 2 hours … thanking God there are much more humane procedures that are actually happening out there. For a while, I thought just jabbing them was the accepted way to lance these abscessed farm animals. My heart feels happy to have glued my eyes upon your careful, compassionate work. I’m a new subscriber, for sure. There should be some sort of penalty that’s issued to the people who just cut these animals with a box cutter! Thank you for making my day. I don’t believe they have been numbing the area before stabbing and slicing the areas. I’ve only seen one cow that stood still while they did that. The others kept kicking their leg and moving from feeling them slicing them. At least that’s what it looks like to me. But maybe if their were sound and they explained what they were doing it would help to understand more. I do like learning.
The veterinarian is put in anesthesia in the vein but not putting nothing around the area where he is going to cut so I'm seeing that the cow is feeling it when he is cutting
Very confusing video. There are a couple segments that seem to have been repeated. There were some cases in which the vet started the procedure, but I don't believe it was ever completed. Are any of these cows giving anything for the pain beforehand? Imagine if somebody poked us without some sort of anesthetic?

Why do these people mistreat these faithful money makers? They can obviously see with their own eyes that these animals are suffering and yet they just igore their pain. I don't understand.
Surely you are kidding 😂. He doesn't even give them local anaesthetic, but he shoves his whole arm up a cows vagina with no problemo!🤦🤬 FOUL, as he doesn't even know that when you Lance an abcess, you cut the skin lowest to the bottom, so gravity drains most of it- he cuts at the top and prays 🤬
You have to be joking, no anesthesia the animals obviously very uncomfortable it keeps kixking. That’s probably why there’s no sound on the video because you can hear the poor baby crying
always love the shoulger glove! LOL I really do love how well they anestheize the area that needs worked on. shows a real caring for the animal. this poor cow just does not want to be messed with
Donna Miller what makes you think the area was anesthetized? I never saw anything injected into the area, only in the neck. I assume the cow kicked with every stab because it WASNT numb
@@kelseyconrad7861 Abcesses desensitize the skin over them,. The cow kicks because if the pressure hurting it, the knife cutting the abcess does not hurt.
THANK THE LORD! He finally bought a set of CLIPPERS! I only saw one shaving trainwreck this time! Everytime he shaves them, I hold my breath bc of all the blood. But this was a near perfect compilation! & when I saw the clippers at the very end, I knew "THERE IS HOPE for Keebovet! Thanks for hearing your subscribers! Much nicer to watch!
Abscesses can happen for any number of reasons. An injury to the area… hitting a wall, another cow, a rail. And they grow rapidly. Unless the cow is sick, it’s not uncommon. That’s why many farmers drain them on their own instead of calling out a vet.
@@digsindirt4490 yeah I know, I’ve lanced many but my point was, why do they wait until they are so massive and rather than being a sore spot it affects the health of the entire cow, very rarely will they burst on their own cause the skin is so thick, there is no need for the situation to get dire, all farmers have access to a needle and syringe to check the contents and a blade to lance it, even if it’s only to relieve some pressure until the vet can come

🇨🇦 😥 you can tell that it's painful for the cow. Everytime the doctor touches it the cow moves around. Very sad 😭 this doctor is so good at what he does. It must bother him to see this animal is in pain
There's nothing to anesthetize. It's just pus with a tight, thin layer of skin on top. The skin is stretched so tight that there is very little feeling. When you inject lidocaine or some other local anesthetic... the point is for it to spread out into the underlying flesh. There is no flesh under these.
Its not feasible everytime... Specifically in such cases. You have pus underneath. A nick or incision once is better than punching needles in an abscess.
@@syedmohammadnoman6030 I agree with you. I had lidocaine injection before an abscess was lanced and it hurt like hell. The second time I went back and had to have another drainage I asked the surgeon to skip the injection. That felt worse than just stabbing it open. The lidocaine isn’t absorbed in the case if an abscess.

It is beyond me why they don't collect the contents into a pail and dispose of it properly. I'd be concerned that the make up and the bacteria etc would be passed unto other animals in the farm. I'm quite sure that in higher-end farms that the contents are not just dropped unto the floor like this.
I’ve watched these same types of videos at “higher-end” farms and they do it this exact same way. They don’t just leave it there. They wash and clean the area afterwards It’s not the Middle Ages
Dirty barns. Cob webs galore on the ceilings, manure everywhere. Cows feet up to belly are dirty. Could you imagine living in there (no, warehoused there) , and being cut open to drain an abscess in this manner?

This is the most confusing video I've EVER seen! Didn't see a single start to finish procedure. I usually love these videos, but this one left me highly disappointed!

WHY on Earth did this ❓Vet use a 20 gauge ❓Needle as the initial outlet go the HUGE Abscess❓❓❓An abscess this huge needed a much larger outlet to be able to appropriately evacuate the cyst/abscess contents (ie) USE a SCALPEL! Otherwise the contents can’t drain out appropriately & the chance for RE-Inflammation/Infection are greater.
The problem with this guy is that he should be lancing the absess at the very bottom, not the middle. Otherwise, the debris remains trapped in the space because it will not be able to drain properly.
Packing isn't used so much, at least not on humans. you should buy one of those sharp surgical sizzors instead of a knife. Dr. Lalit Kasana is someone great to watch for his technique and tools
