👉I ALWAYS WANTED AN AUTEL BUT I THINK I JUST CHANGED MY MIND, AND NOW THAT IM THINKING ABOUT IT THE AUTEL AT WORK DOESN'T TAKE CHARGE🤦♂️STILL GOT MY GOOD OLE SNAP ON SOLUS EDGE THO😏
Does this require a subscription for updates? Also, can this do like Throttle body resets ect or is it more or less a 'code scanner' only? Launch X431 Turbo referring to.
I bought the MAC version of your Bosch scanner. If my scanner has an issue, I can get a loaner directly from Mac/Bosch the next day while they fix mine. It has worked flawlessly.
Kind of hard to believe autel has so many issues. Glad I saw this video because I considered one before I bought a torque 3. You're 100% right about the UI, it took some getting used to. I've only ever used snap on scanners, modis, modis ultra, Solus ultra. But it's awesome messing around with the launch. If you ever get the tpms wand for it, do a review. I'm curious about it.
@FlatRateMaster u may be able go into system settings on touch screen settings and perform q touch screen recalibration on the autel which should clear up the screen issue I have snapon versus u have use the stylus it just isn't going cooperate
Good to know. I've been looking to replace my Modis and have looked at Autel. I do own an Autel BT608. It has had battery and software issues they cannot seem to figure out -leaving me with a sour impression.
I have the 708,908,elite and now ultra. You can get batteries for your 908 or elites. There are aftermarket sources for this. I have done my 908 twice and the elite once.
Our shop bought an autel that I use every day and love it, but it takes for EVER to connect and I want a scanner for myself....I may consider the launch
I picked up a maxicheck808 last year do not know the build date. Anyways I bought it for quick checks on propane buses. If it turns out to be a mechanical or trans issue I get out the laptop with IDS for warranty data logging. This scanner has served very very well and the latest update simplified many processes. I hope that I do not start having this battery issues. Thinking about trying the Topdon Phoenix. Because in reality the maxi check is more of a diy home gamer deal, but has proved to be much more. The price has gone up about $200 since I bought it a year ago unfortunately.
I have a Triton D8, an MS906PRO, and a Maximus 3.0. The 3.0 would be the last tool I sold if forced to. Only once has it lost out to the Autel, it was on a volvo ABS function. The Maximus 3.0 is the same as a Launch Pad III, just with a slightly spiffier, matco-exclusive UI.
What's your opinion on the triton vs autel/matco? I know each have they're own uses but I traded my maxflex for the triton d10 a month ago and I really enjoy snap on... I am however going to purchase (in the longer future) either autel or matco to compliment the snap on mostly for coding and resets/relearns
Does your X431 support DIOP/CanFD/megacan? For the new ford/GM stuff. It seems a lot of tools are not updating their tools to support these new protocols.
it took over 3 months for them to fix my elite, which when they sent it back said unable to test battery due to it being dead... you would think they would have a charger to test it out. they did replace my screen and vci. I'm interested to see how the launch holds up for you.
I haven't tried to do any kind of module flashing on the scan tool but I have seen that it is available. You can hook the scan tool up then call Launch and they can over the internet update a car through your scan tool with factory flash files... now if I could find someone to give me all the actual details about this I'd probably start offering it up as a service!
Thanks you for review ! Agree Autel cheap hardware and expensive renew fee every year. i hve old x431 before felt slow but after watch ur review ,may give it a try again. now i m using thinkcar/topdon like it
Flatratemaster, I can’t find the explanation of all functions on the Turbo. I just found one new old stock and ordered it for cheap so I know it’s a gamble but I was hoping it had the resets for dpf, abs brake bleed etc. does the Turbo have those functions? My current 129x only has a few resets so I was looking for a step up and I think I went the right direction?
Flat Rate Master... I've had my Autel MS908S Pro for a year now. I hope I don't start having problems with it. I am thinking about selling it because I just don't use it as much as I thought I would. Sure as I sell it I will need it but I would let it go for $1,900.
It's a volume issue if you are programming at least two modules a week a top level scanner is a necessity, if you are doing 96 and newer mostly general repair the launch CRP 129 is 95% the scan tool for 5% the money.
Ok the launch hardware is better but every feature is a separate add on unlike the autel. I look at it like this but the tool, use it for two years then sell it and buy a new one, tools give you a few years of subscription and updates after 2-3 years the scan tools are still worth at least half MSRP and the cost of updates for a few years is a good chunk. So if you are only keeping the tool for a few years is the autel a better bet?
all I do all day is use my scan tool. I do mobile diagnostics and programming. The fact of life is these tools have a "shelf life". the worst part is that these tools live in the worst possible environment for batteries and hardware. Sadly autel is one of the best tools on the market and because of that, I have multiple. I also have a launch-based tool and its always been a strong performer as well. I love my launch and autel and I cant imagine being without either of them.
For programming and coding used modules I think the autel is superior, which is your go to tool? I think the launch is more durable but their programming and coding is lacking.
If this hasn't been mentioned, Launch has a China/global market version of this tool called the x431 pro3s+ it runs for about $930 when on sale vs around $1,500 for the tool in this video. They seem nearly identical from what I've seen and the only thing you might lose out on is the add on accessories mentioned in this video. Launch does sell accessories for this tool but they aren't from US distributors. I own one and have used it on my personal and family cars (I live in the US). While the data graphing is so/so the whole tool seems pretty good for the money. The China/global scanner still gets regular updates, the only thing you're really gambling on for the extra $570 is warranty support but that's a risk I was willing to take.
Thanks for the info how is it holding up? I just ordered it but I'm freaking out cause I read that the global market one can't read domestic vehicles well
I have an old autel ms906 thats about 6+ years old. Battery still lasts a fair while. Only gets charged when down to about 20% and always turnes off at the end of the day. I really like it but need something newer
I’d be interested to find out how the tech support is on that I had a X431 10 years ago and the support sucked I still have it though and it actually still works I bought the matco 3 4 years ago the tech support on that is much better but there is no Jbox so you’re stuck with just some coding no programming there’s no 1 scanner that does everything but launch does a lot you should be happy with it
I did allot of research and choose the new x431 launch and got a deal on it so I’m happy with it. I love the fact it has bi-directional scanning and for the price, way to go launch you stepped up💪🏾
I tried the launch x431 pro 5 it really sucked you had to pay so much even for specific bi directional functions- per function…. I was not impressed you couldn’t get me to recommend that line of scan tools if you paid me and subscription was expensive!
I think now technicians and grease monkeys are looking around more these days a,i(the price people are tightening their belts a lot)a,ii (the software is costing to-much as well) they are taking more chances on non American tools like Japan, German and Taiwanese tools which are a good second best, the van brands need to have good look in on themselves and find a New strategy 👍🏻🇬🇧✌🏻💂🏻🇺🇲. Keep well. Dain.
Yes, Autel SUCKS !!…I have an MS906 for about 6 years or so and it is doing the same things…touch screen barely works, can’t shut it off among a few other issues…just ordered a Launch X431 Pro3s and it will be arriving tomorrow !!
Battery issue is your own fault. Next time do recharge the device all the time, as soon as possible. Autel is ok, but as I predicted a few years back, soon we will have bidirectional scanners for $400 or less, as ALL of these are made with off the shelf parts so the ONLY real differentiator is the software! LAUNCH is ok too but I rather give my money to a vendor/model with LIFETIME updates, like the XTool M30 Bluetooth for $200 bucks!
Not a fan of Autel. We have two Autel units for shop scan tools. Incredibly slow. I only use them when they can do something my Snap on scan tool won't do. I need to get something new but I don't want to drop the money for something I don't like.
Autel has not impressed me at all. Battery in general sucks has a mind of it's own as far as the battery issue goes. Freezes on me all the time very slow over all. I am very disappointed
