Botha was intimated all throughout the fight, both by Lewis' physical size and his skills. Botha could find no opening, and after eating that Lewis right in the first round, he was basically waiting for the end.

@@amajeet Well I dont think Tyson is top 10 all time or anything. But, with regards to how he did against Botha, I think it is worth pointing out that he was finished by then. Tyson was a teenage prodigy who very likely would have been finished by 25 -27 even without going to jail because he peaked EARLY. A lot of that had to do with the fact that Tyson relied a lot on speed, quickness, and reflexes for his style to be effective. He was never built for the long haul. In his latter years, he showed some flashes here and there. But he had a young man’s style and thus he fizzled out which is why his prime was so short.
Kev Dean I don’t think Lewis would have lost more than 2 fights (out of 10 bouts) with Ali. He was bigger and a better tactician. Ali was just faster. Lewis is a lot bigger and stronger than Ali.
Riddick Bowe - when in shape, which was rarely - was more skilled than Lennox. The difference between the two was riddick’s ability to fight inside, which Lennox never mastered. Let me stop you right there - I didn’t say that riddick had a better resume or that he could beat Lennox, etc. I said he was more skilled.

@Google Wack They weren't ahead on points. They didn't catch him with skills. They caught him with a shot. Lewis was ahead on each of those cards. And what happened the next time he fought each of those fighters? He dominated them. Made one cry and the other one knocked out.
Good stoppage. Lennox just took his time and landed that perfect combo as soon as the chance presented itself. Botha was a solid heavyweight, he was just outclassed by an all time great.
Lennox was such a clever boxer. He never stopped thinking. That's why he beat Tyson. He knew Tyson had one game and if he could neutralise it he'd beat him.
Tyson was explosive, and yes he created a legacy as youngest heavyweight champ, but I keep telling these Tyson prime obsessives, he was one dimensional. Always just a front footed fighter. Struggled against buster Douglas, even francis botha. Struggled against evander and of course Lewis.

Botha was a troublesome fighter but always ran out of gas and got cocky when fights were going his way. Actually Lewis got hit with a right hand in rd 1 and just escaped the next shot which would have caught him in the same off balance position exactly as Rahmans did. He was close to being knocked out here and nobody saw it! At 3:24
Huge fan of Tyson but so what? It doesn't say much about him compared to Lewis. Both had power. Lewis did it in 2 rounds, Mike in 5. Mike got a dodgy KO vs Ruddock then went 12 rounds with him. Lewis KO'd him in 2 rounds. Lennox obliterated Golota in 1. Golota got up and eventually quit after the 2nd against Mike but wasn't put down and out.
I think because Lennox fought like it was a game of chess. So tactically he would nullify their strengths and break them down with his arsenal of shots, the jab being one of the best shot and usually knock them out with the right. So he didn't get the credit because he wasn't explosive like say Mike Tyson I make him top 3 and the best of his era and that includes Tyson.

Lewis' corner obviously considered not coming out for 2nd rd, if you notice he almost decided to stay on his stool. No shame at all, fighting Botha is a challenge.
Botha used a very wrong tactic way .. He should raise his hands up to save his face without making a lot of movements except and keeping distance away from Lewis hands in the first rounds because Lewis was very fast and his hands was so long
Would have been faster if he hadn’t been fat. He looked leaner than he was against Tyson, but still a bit pudgy. He probably would have lost anyway, since Lewis was too good.

Iron Mike fought a fortnight previously against Lou Saverese. But iron Mike against Lennox wouldn't of done nothing like Botha did. Tyson would of made things happen straight from the off.
In Botha's previous 3 fights he was KO'd by Mike Tyson, then had a Draw with Shannon Briggs, and finally beat a no-name in Steve Pannell prior to his bout with Lewis. Hardly qualifies him as a legitimate title challenger here.

Given that you are aware of the Tyson fight you failed to say that Botha was winning the fight with Tyson by a large margin until Tyson landed his hail Mary right hand in round 5. Briggs was a major contender at the time and a draw with him was nothing to be ashamed of. Lewis was fighting often during this time and cleaning out the division. Before you post a stupid uneducated comment do some research or perhaps you're being disingenuous because you want to diminish Lewis' accomplishments? If you're going to try to discredit what I've written, get back to me with Botha's ranking at the time of this fight and tell me what Briggs' ranking was as well.
Botha was winning this fight. Speculation was Lennox knew he was up against the best heavyweight in the world, & had agreed to Botha taking the fall so they could have a bigger payfay for the rematch. Problem was, Lennox did not want anymore of Botha & never gave Botha the rematch. No one ever wanted to fight Botha. Even Tyson would tell you Botha hit harder than anyone he ever faced.
Yeah, he was winning! Especially if your scoring criteria is how many times your opponent’s gloves touches your face and body. He was winning that battle for sure! If your criteria are like the rest of the world I suggest a visit to an ophthalmologist.
I see a joke on they think it's all over, it made me laugh so hard but there was a question in regards to the drawn holyfield fight and what was the woman judges excuse which was lenmox Lewis back was so big she couldnt see him landing punches. In his segment after nick Hancock said in her previous bouts she judged Rodney King to have beaten the la police department on points. A joke that wouldn't be allowed on TV these days let alone the BBC but this comment made me laugh just as much.

Tyson took longer to beat Botha. But he ko'd him with 1 punch. Lewis had to do it with accumulated damage over 2 rounds. Couldn't do it with a single punch. Botha also got up easier from Lewis's knock down. He couldn't get up at all from Tysons knock out. The announcers on here acting like Tysons ko was nothing compared to Lewis's. But it's the other way around.

Of time both of sophomore of Mike Tyson punches so by time Mike Tyson's live at the knockout punch it was hard for him to get up, You can clearly see at the beginning Botha was hurt from Lennox's punches which were so few and then the knockout punch came.
