Hello!! It's been a while garden friends. Miss you all! Happy SPRING 🌷
This is the first episode in a weekly series where I will be walking you through "fixing" my garden. Things have gotten away from me in many areas of my small garden, and I need you to help keep me on track! There will be a lot of redoing, rethinking, changing it up, and ticking off those to-do's that have been sitting here for far to long. I'm excited for the new season! Hope you'll join me for this series!
Edit! I misspoke. It is not a Jane Magnolia, it appears to be a Saucer Magnolia.

Wow I’m so happy to see you! Excited to go along with you as you fix your garden. I think we gardeners all go through seasons of change from time to time. Currently I’m attempting to make my garden easier for me to take care of, as I’m a full time caregiver for my disabled Veteran husband. That for me means taking out plants that require too much time and care and replacing them with easier but equally as beautiful plants. It’s a challenge but once it’s done I think we will both enjoy our time out there so much more.

You hit it on the nail - that’s exactly what I’m trying to do with my garden. Get rid of things that really bother me and establish good design in the perennial gardens so I can look forward to planting annuals. Welcome back ! 🌸❤️🇨🇦 Beautiful teak set and greenhouse with the added overhang!

I totally understand. This one is pretty tame. I had it trained along the shed for about 10 yrs. I did have to get up on a ladder to prune a couple times a season. If it gets crazy, I’ll just hack it back and leave the pretty trunks. Thank you so much for being here! Wishing you a happy Spring! 🌷🌷

Creating a bistro set seating area with flagstones instead of grass, replacing a cherry blossom weeping tree with an espalier apple combo tree (inspired by you!) and removing some grass to create a rose garden :) so many beautiful projects!! I moved into a new build home last summer on 2/3 of an acre. Not a huge lot but when you are starting with nothing but dirt it feels like a lot. We did some basic landscaping last year but need to focus on the rest this year. My big goal this year is covering the dirt and planting some trees.

I've been following you on Insta for quite a while -- didn't know you also had a YT channel. I'm excited to follow you here, as well. My big project is going to be removing landscape fabric from 2 of the beds in my front yard, so I can rebuild the soil. It will be hard, but I'm not going to add any new plants in those spaces this year. I'm taking the necessary time to let the soil heal. Not to worry - I'll be adding plenty of plants in the other beds!!

Good to hear from you! Everything is looking good! I love the addition to the green house, the Wisteria will look beautiful on it! Im changing alot to in my garden this year, if it doesn't make me happy its out of here lol. Im always inspired by your garden. i love cottage country gardens thats my style but im wanting to add formal areas too. I have the same white fence but solid at top and im gonna add some Arbevities in the center of the panels. Do you remember the variety of those you have? They are perfect size, i dont want the ones that get super tall and wide.

Laura, you KNOW that I was a huge fan of the fence (an FF, Fence Fan😂) but I am woman enough to admit that I was wrong. Seeing the new look from this vantage point has me sold. I do love it, and the wings, don’t make the arbor look so naked 🤣. But most importantly, with the removal of the fence, the beauty of the greenhouse is more visible. I love it! My personal garden fix is working on the back yard. It has been neglected for many years focusing on the curb appeal from the street. So now it’s time to make the back yard more appealing. The potting shed was phase one, so onward to all the rest. You inspire me, so Thank you!

Welcome back! It's nice taking a break. I have been doing the same think Laura in my garden. So many things that has been getting on "me" nerves. I had all types of containers and all different color -- that had to change. So, I've purchased a lot of cement pots on Facebook Marketplace and black containers are always a staple in my garden (I have some random colored ones but I kept them because in certain areas they make sense). My biggest thing I need to do this year (I say that every year) is to fix my lack of privacy issue with either (lattice, panels or something). Glad to have you back and I look forward to seeing all the other things you do to fix your garden.

I have teak outdoor furniture and over two plus years, it has weathered to gray. I suggest you look up how to care for teak furniture and act accordingly. I was told NOT to oil it.

Ok! Interesting, we looked up teak care and one of the top suggestions was to use minwax teak oil. I’ll be sure to take care and check with an expert. Thanks!

Happy you are back after a much needed break. Anxious to see how you plant your Dahlias; iI jump started mine here in zone 7b. They are ready! Have you kept your Master Gardener certification?

I need help also! Can you tell me exactly what kind of fertilizer I should use on my limelight hydrangea! I'm so happy to see you back! I missed you!
@HowsItGrowing
@HowsItGrowing 2 года назад
Hi Connie! I actually use Rose-Tone on my hydrangeas. An expert at Proven Winners Color Choice shrubs shared this tip. Always make sure not to over fertilize hydrangeas. Otherwise you’ll get lush thick foliage, and not as many blooms. I only do a little bit right around now. 💜

Happy Spring! Thank you for your motivation too. We are suppose to get up to near 70 today (then back to rain of course here in WA state) so I'm headed outside to do some cleanup and planning for the season. Your greenhouse is a dream - we have huge evergreens and maples that I'd be afraid branches would fall on it, otherwise it would be top on my list to add to my garden.

So happy to see you!!! I love that you're reconfiguring things, as I am also doing alot of that myself this year. I've learned so many things since I began gardening, that some things I did back then need to be "fixed" 🤣 But it's hard! It gets worse before it gets better I hope!

First time watching. Love your greenhouse & garden. Since you asked for our help I was thinking the urn does not look centered to the lattice behind it looking unbalanced. ☘🍀🌼🌷🌺

Hi! Happy to see you! Yes, you’re right. I shifted it the other day to move the drip line that had a kink. I’ll be tweaking all that as I clean up.

I've got bags and bags of soil conditioner to put on,ughhh and have some awful ex neighbors spraying my yard so I have dead and damaged shrubs to fix and or take out. Infact they killed my magnolia. But cameras up and husband just retired so he's going to help. Welcome back to the jungle. Happy gardening.

Welcome back and really love your video. However the way the whesteria grows it will go towards the roof where you don't want it to go. As well you will need to see how it gets on the glass and if there is any staining. It may get heavy as well. Somethings you may want to keep in mind. Once again thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much! Yes it can definitely take over. It was massive on my old potting shed. What is left is about 1/4 of the vine. I had to cut most of it back when we took the shed down. Thanks so much for being here! Happy Spring! 🌷🌷

Thanks so much Nicole! The arms on the set sold me too. It’s from Overstock. After a lot of looking, I found that was the most reasonable price I could find. Thanks for watching!!
