its a cross between a Grande and a mini bazooka its cool unlike the pepper ball suppository we saw before the only upgrade I could see to the new one is a stretchy rubber cord to keep the pin with the shooter so you can pop the pin and then still have the pin with you for later
Good video. I've had my eye on this one for a while. I see it's now available for civilians. That's probably an N2 cartridge. It's basically giving the same cloud effect as the PepperBall splitshot attachment that goes on the end of the TCP barrel. Whether this is any better than classic pepper spray though remains to be determined but I like it.
Thanks man! It was definitely worlds above the pepperball Compact. The mechanism feels considerably more solid, it’s much more dependable, and it fires with a much higher velocity. You’re right, it is nitrogen.
Correct! You know, it’s actually funny. I actually had somebody that made the comment that they looked like they were ineffective because I had fired them and I wasn’t even coughing :-)
@@AlternateArmsSD me too be good for a girl in a car if some creep trys to come in the window bam hold ya breath close ya eyes and then hit em wit the hdp
Now what if you miss your target? Does it have to hit to release the pepper gas? I thought I had read somewhere that you didn't have to hit your target for it to work.
This one is a bit unique in that. When you fire the launcher, it does have a "cap" which is full of the pepper load. However, when you fire it creates a "cone of effect" also. It makes it very easy to hit your target (even if you don't make direct contact)
Man!! It is so freaking strange you had mentioned that! I’m actually talking to them about these in an email chain right now! I told him the same thing, I can see a ton of different uses for it.
@@AlternateArmsSD Yeah it reminds me of something like the Valken Thunder V core. You screw on plastic shells that create a loud boom when the CO2 is released. Hope to see something in the future.
Jon, InJust ordered one. So, it doesn't need to hit target before it dispenses? How far away from my body does it start to be effective. Sorry for the questions, I'm at work with no sleep. Lol
No problem at all brother. OK, the fire is out the canister which contains the payload, but it does actually sort of bleed out of the back as it is moving down range. When it actually impacts the target, that’s when the majority of the payload is delivered. It’s an ingenious mechanism. Typically, most engagements are 3 to 5 m. I would say that as long as you were within 25 feet it’s going to be pretty darn accurate. That was the range we were testing at. They also have refill kits and the practice refills so that you can get a feel for the distance and the aim.
Has anyone thought about developing a pepper pava gel ball so when it hits the assailant it only affects them and not you or other people that might be around?
Agreed, these are for your car or purse. They are small and quick to deploy. Also, the penshot would be usable in areas that forbit "firearms". Take a look :) Thanks for watching!
PAVA is GREAT!! You don't need more than 5%. You would then create your own rounds using pure capcasin and powdered ghost peppers. That would be a VERY VERY nasty combination.
@@AlternateArmsSD no problem at all brother, I really enjoy these non lethal equipment demonstrations. I think less lethal/non lethal is a great addition to anyone's armory.
Well, that may not be such a good idea. These put out a tremendous amount of pepper gas. However, one solid option, for you might be the HDP50 Compact or the hdp50. Both of them fully modded pack a heck of a punch and could put somebody down quickly without gassing yourself in the process :-)
I haven’t been able to find the 8 gram nitrogen cartridges that would fit this exactly. It’s not like the 8 g CO2 which are so readily available for seltzer machines. it wouldn’t matter anyway, you would have to replace the entire mechanism on each shot so getting it from that would make more sense anyway. Thanks for watching!
YOU CAN BUY A FRICKIN HDP OR SOMETHING FOR THE PRICE THEY WANT FOR THIS ,EVEN AT HALF PRICE OFF ,I WOULDNT WASTE MY MONEY , GET YOU A PISTOL PEOPLE ,HDP OR HDR !!!
Yeah, it’s a very new startup so I’d expect prices to drop as they ramp production (particularly in the years after Covid). They also have one little nasty part that I didn’t even notice until the review was done. I’ll be doing a separate review on another one of their products shortly. It’s pretty crazy.
@@jasonholloway2684 Your joking right? Did you watch the video at all? The shots I fired were the INERT loads. Do you actually think I’d fire live rounds in my studio?!?
That is reduculous high priced No thank you Junk -money down the drain but looks powerful if you put that same cartridge on the pepperball shot probly do the same thing
Nah, this thing puts out a TON of powder. also, remember that this is a new company and these are in constant development. They are going to continue to improve and, as sales improve, I’m sure the prices will come down.
@@makycaris4672 ROFL!! I’d accept that challenge :) these guys do have something very very interesting though, and they’re supposed to be sending one at some point here in the near future. It’s unlike anything I’ve tested before so I’m really curious to see how it does. Thanks for watching brother!
@@makycaris4672 The "Explosive results" are the point. I've never tried a slingshot for self-defense (I can't see walking around with the Bilbo Baggins bag of ammo) :) but I'm certainly willing to test a few. Any suggestions?
Oh no another proprietary CO2 come on they don't need another proprietary c02 laying around. The eight gram is annoying and I know it's "catching on" but come on the 12 g is small enough and you don't need the space savings I mean the difference between a 12 and a five or even the 12 and 8 or 8 and a five it's just trivial if you can't carry something that's an eight and only five then you're trying to conceal something that you shouldn't be having on you if it's for self-defense you can put on your damn belt like flashlight doesn't matter. And if it's something you need to conceal it's not lethal so there's no point really like I don't know get a pen gun
Heh Yeah, it’s not CO2 though, it’s actually nitrogen. It packs a heck of a punch when you fire it :-) on the upside, since the cartridge is proprietary, you end up getting a new nitrogen cartridge every time you order a reload :-) it’s like any other self-defense device, it’s just one tool in an arsenal..
Are you joking? You can’t be serious?!? Brother, watch the video! I’m using the practice rounds (they have talcum powder in them). Do you actually think I’d fire a live round in my studio?! ROFL
@@bozmeg6918 I put a link in the description. This is a relatively new company so the prices will fluctuate as they get production ramped up. Take a look and, if you want one, let me know and I’ll get you a good discount.
So I did a little research since last time you left a comment like this on one of my videos. Saying oh God is not “using gods name in vain”. It’s simply an expression of surprise.
@@AlternateArmsSD Agree, but I can see why someone might take offense. As a Christian I don't particularly like people using God's name in vain, but Oh God isn't doing that as like you said it's an expression not meant to take His name in vain. This is an interesting self defense item for sure and I could definitely see women carrying it in their purses or college students having them in their backpacks for walking around campus after dark.
ROFL Excuse me? Brother, my personality hasn’t changed in 53 years and isn’t likely to anytime soon. I take this very seriously. These are products that a person will be defending themselves with so I strive to give to the most in-depth reviews I can. I give credit where credit is due and criticism where criticism is due. There are a few companies that produce great products and actually listen to their customers and pavashot is one of them. Thanks for watching!
