Wouldn't be easier to donate a leyline of punishment? The opponent wouldn't be able to win. Edit: nvmd lichs mirror is worse than i thought.

If you gift it to your opponent the game is a tie if they lose

Literally the only time I actually needed a deck tech. I guess i should have just known what Modern All-Star Lich's Mirror does though.

@Derek Cline why would you want to pass the mirror? the idea is that you have the mirror, both players die, but you survive because of the mirror.

Deck techs are pretty pointless imo. I always skip them

@@MidgarMerc I like them cause there are synergies in the deck that may not be obvious. Plus it helps with others tuning up their deckbuilding skills by watching Saffron who obviously has tons of experience

Yeah, I considered Infect, but I'm actually not sure that is easier than the lifegain prevention plan.

Figured out a modern combo alternative, which works on a similar path of abilities still being active despite your board being reset. This combo requires three parts. First is a mirror. Second is a copy of vizkopa gildmage, and third is a way to pay any amount of life. For the sake of this example, let's say you have a hex parasite (you can activate it's ability x=0, paying two life) and a 'caves of koilios' which allows you to ensure your life total is even. So the goal is to get all three on the battlefield. Then, you pay three mana to activate guildmage's ability, where when you gain life this turn your opponent looses that much life. You then start activating the parasite's ability, moving 0 counters. (note- you are not required to target a permanent with counters on it, just that you have a target) Doing this, you pay all your life. Mirror triggers. You shuffle your board back into your library, new hand, etc. You then go to 20 life, which means you gain 20 life since you were at 0. Guildmage's ability (which is still active, even though the mage is gone) says 'okay, each opponent looses 20 life'. So if your opponent is at 20 life or fewer, they just loose the game. Not a great combo, but an example of the same type of effect useable in the modern format.

Well they wouldn't be losing, they'd be drawing, so it wouldn't make a difference?
